According to the guys who made the Witcher 3, they are releasing 16 DLC's FREE.

What has DAI done for us gamers?

CD Red Projekt is setting the new standard for rpg gaming and DLC's.

Some of these dlcs are very small things like a new fancy sword or outfit or a quest. Having small free things is nice but hardly the standard that all companies should be following, they're a plenty of overpriced DLC (i'm looking at you sims 3) to be sure but there are also plenty of DLCs that are worth the price.

Top company. I will buy their game on PC and Xbox One just because I actually want to support them.

In comparison EA made the DA:I demo exclusive for their EA access thingy. That one costs money. So the Whitcher developers gives the players free DLC's. EA charges players for the demo. Let that bit sink in.

Me too. I am seriosuly considering buying this game.

I watched the first 10+ minutes of actual gameplay and I was already interested and excited.....you can scale mountains!!! You can do so much in that game, interactive, were as DAI......static eye candy art and keep on walking.

"We, as gamers, would like to be treated this way."

By Jenna Pitcher CD Projekt co-founder and joint CEO Marcin Iwiński tells IGN that the developer is releasing 16 free The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt downloadable post-launch content packs to make a statement against the “steeply priced” paid DLC economy.

“Because people just paid full price for our game,” Iwiński responded when we asked why the developer is releasing its next 16 DLC packs for free. “We owe them.”

“Yeah, we are making a statement,” he added. “We, as gamers, would like to be treated this way, 'Hey, give me free DLC.' It doesn't have to be something huge. And I'm saying we aren't giving out huge stuff, we aren't giving tens of hours of storyline here, we are giving small bits of pieces that don't cost a lot. And I think people would feel better about our game, and, so, they will enjoy the adventure even more."

Now if only they'd let us create a character.

I think they will let us do that for their next games. They won't be Witcher games, though.

true.....but they clearly said, they didn't want to deviate from their main character as part of their storyline and I respect that way more than what Bioware has done with DAI.

The Witcher series are based on the books abut Geralt. So I can understand why there is a set character. I do see it as a drawback, though, when it comes to the rpg genre and all that.

Not sure if I would call the witcher a roleplaying game, to be honest. More action\adventure with some rpg elements tossed in.

Its a suggestion to Bioware to offer free DLC's and that another company is already setting that new standard.

The Witcher 3 is more interactive and with features compared to DAI anyway.

It will get move to off topic or merge with the Witcher thread eventually. Anyways no point of a Create A Character unless it absolutely make sense. I don't know the entire Witcher Universe. I am catching up on the lore through those vids posted on youtube. I do like the introduction of Ciri.More I read about her the more she continue to impress me. I just hope you can still freely explore the game when you do play as her as your would with Geralt.

After 10 minutes of actual gameplay and what I can do in the game, I am probably buying it.

That's all it took before.....SOLD.

First 10 minutes of DAI .....yawn and you can't do anything, art gallery, eye candy and move along.

Bioware should learn from them. It would be a good start to get back to their form.....

Umm... yay? There's nothing on that list that I'd even notice, but I guess it's cool for people who are into that sort of thing.

It's not up to Bioware, it's up to EA, and I doubt EA would do something like that unless they made terrible mistakes treating customers like trash with Sims 4 where they have to appease them. Plus, I'm thinking the cost of living is different between the two countries, so they have more leeway in dedicating resources to extra features. I buy games from Gog whenever I could since I like their philosophy on gaming but Witcher is just not my type of games. I'll see what they release next. Even if I can't support them financially, I support them in spirit. :P

Not really, its a part of a price penetration strategy /social stratgy of sorts. The RPG market is hard enough to pentrate as it is, So how does a small polish company get a foothold in this market? By offering 'free dlc' which is for the most part 'unheard of' in the games market. i guarentee u that once they have solidified themselves more in the market, they will start charging for dlc.

Their games are selling more than well enough for that not to get needed.

I doubt they will sink to EA's level and charge money for a demo any time soon.

I'm happy to pay for QUALITY dlc. Dragon age has always given good ones, and as king as they start focusing in story again and move away from this mmo fetch quest stuff, I'll buy it.

The fetch quests though, I've had enough of those. They aren't innovative and they aren't fun, it's not the dragon age I know.

Except the point of EA access is quick access to the EA library. Discounts and demos are just a bonus.

That's like getting angry because xbox live offers games for gold as a bonus on top of the main service.

Then why keep the demo as an EA access exclusive?

And no, it is not the same as paying for a product that gives you free games. We are talking about a demo here.

A good quality game I have no issues buying DLC's and expansions for but if that developer wants to break the norm and release them for free, that's amazing.
