DAO, a Bioware game has:

- isometric view,

- optimized for the PC and console,

- many skills to chose from,

- select your attributes,

- storage chest,

- main campsite,

- chat with party characters

- buy gifts whenver you wished,

- not dumbed down,

- not simplified almost like for kids,

- not a hack and slash controller game,

- story line and plots were very well written

- good DLC's and expansion pack

- change armor, weapons and items between party characters on the fly

- no swearing

- tastefully done adult choices, not gay everything

- pet

- enchantment!!!

- useful side quests

- long game

- addictive with high replayability

- more for young adults and not kids

- gore, blood with a darker theme

This is part of a RPG game. DAI has none of these things....and we still call it a rpg.....

You clearly don't understand that almost everything you listed is an opinion.

I truly don't know. However, as CP is now the new Community Mgr there, and maintains good relationships with Bioware fiends here, I expect it mostly past history.

It's semi-inevitable, to be honest. Both are AAA RPG developers who emphasize story-driven narratives, compared to the Skyrim approach. Dragon Age and Witcher, on the surface at least, both deal with medieval style politics and, for whatever reason, people view CDPR as being the "new Bioware" due to the high quality of their games and their dislike of post EA properties.

Similar games (story driven rpgs) both making their first foray into open world(ish, in Bioware's case) sandbox style. They're aimed at the same niche audience (though Bioware less so now that they have mainstream appeal.)

I think people often concentrate so hard on what they do differently, they fail to see just how similar they are.

Pretty much, instead they just trash talk one of the games and the people who makes these thread even knows this

Kinda petty now

And how it's a Witcher vs DA topic please?

That's a vision of the market against another. Two visions of the video game industry and video game publishing.

Most people here are talking about DLC practices, not the games themselves. This is about having to pay or not to get additional and optional things.

The OP just turned it into one on the last page.

Doesn't really matter, topics like this always turn into a pissing match or people wanting to trash talk one of the developers

I love CD project Red. the Collection editon I got for my birhday of The Witcher 2 had so much swag in it. My favorite one was a little coin you got. I loved to play with that coin. Now, if only Bioware could do something like that.

Well, the difference is that the Witcher is catering a healthy content instead of an agenda at every corner. It is focusing on the most probable monetary contributors.

Considering weapon/weapons available only through cheat engines that people have found in the game files, it smells to me like another build up for 'from ashes'.

Bethesda had a Septim with the Oblivion CE, too. I still have that and the Pocket Guide to the Empire around.

I love that kinda stuff with collector's editions.

I take it you prefer your items to remain unobtainable...

I prefer to see them in the game, available through normal means. Nice, they have a tradition of sloppy work, enough to make wiki pages. Glorified laziness.

This is part of a RPG game. DAI has none of these things....and we still call it a rpg.....

DAI does not have:

- isometric view

- not oprimized for PC and keyboard with mouse, even after mini patch 4!!!

- limited skills to chose from, simplified, and only 8 slots.....consoles......

- can't select your attributes....auto and simplify.

- no storage chest

- no main campsite

- can't chat with party characters when you wish

- can't buy gift to romance any party character whenever you wish

- can't eat food you find or buy in a tavern, market, drinks, beer, etc.

- very dumbed down game

- seems to be simplifed for console users and kids

- is a hack and slash game and no longer a tactical game

- storyline line and plots were weak

- no DLC's.....wait 6 months??? for what????

- can't change party character items and interchange on the fly

- obvious swearing and that doesn't add to the game

- no wh0re house

- can't change hairstyles and clothes

- being gay and bi is the norm now and some straight characters

- no pet(s)

- were is Sandal and enchantment?!

- side filler quests are almost meaningless

- very short game

- not addictive at all

- is geared toward kids, controller mashers and those who like simplified things

- not a dark game, dark spawn, blight, etc.

- increasing difficuly levels doesn't do much besides increase hit points and damage taken

- very restrictive and its like being in an art gallery, can't do anything, just look and keep on walking.

In DAI, all the above and more should of been in the game at launch. It is a rpg after all and not an action hack and slash adventure game with some rpg elements in it, right?

I have played many Bioware games and loved them all. But when Bioware went from DAO to DA2, wrong direction and the first step to killing the DA series. That's why the Lead Designer left and didn't like the direction Bioware was going!!!! Now with DAI, only better because of the great graphics, long cut scenes, options to bi and gay characters, and new big open areas to explore that are really empty and very restrictive, More time in the multiplayer forum now........hmmmmm.

Pretty much all games have content that does not make it to the final game. Since the game files are no longer strictly limited by the size of floppy discs or cartridges, fragments of the content usually make it to the final code. Sometimes it is found by gamers who explore game files and they eagerly share the information on the internet.

No reason to cut items, especially in the game that lacks variety in the first place. Sloppy job.

Now the positive things I liked about DAI:

- frostbite 3 engine

- fantastic graphics

- long cutscenes

- more adult options

- breath taking views

- party banter was okay

- mounts to chose from

Again, I have played many Bioware games, incluidng DAO, DA2 and DAI.

DAI is all the above and fact because I own and played it and all these Bioware games on a PC.

That's were I get this from.

I am not a Bioware fanboy and always says their games are great no matter what.

I am a long time Bioware loving customer who is very disappinted with the dumbed down controller direction Bioware has gone.

And add to the list, DAI wasn't optimized for PC keyboard and mouse at all, but Bioware said it was written for PC......blatent lie and still not patched!!!!

I was a long time Bioware customer.....

true.....but they clearly said, they didn't want to deviate from their main character as part of their storyline and I respect that way more than what Bioware has done with DAI.

I'm glad they didn't give in to fan complaints. I'm not a big fan of the Witcher series, but I respect this.  If it isn't going to work for the story then stick to your guns. Sadly BW won't and as a result we have Dwarves running around with Magic anchors and humans bowing to Qunari, Elves, and Dwarves as their religious savior. And a brand new PC who is about as interesting as watching paint dry. smh
