I have seen no evidence of this claim when using the skill, and the ability description says nothing about it... As other people have asked, do you have evidence of this claim?

I am not sure I quite understand what you are describing. Could you expound upon this a bit more? This sounds fun!
If I don't touch the controls on PC and press the ability button the archer will instantly turn to face a specific direction and throw the MoD dagger in this direction. Usually you'll press the RMB so you can control the angle of view on PC (yes we have to do that to face the character different directions), but if you don't he'll do the insta turn and it seems to always point him towards a specific direction - likely one of the map axis.
I've tried this on Tevinter, may vary on other maps.
