Or any JRPG for that matter, where grinding for money and experience is pretty much mandotory unless you want the game to be almost unbeatable.

Not all of them. The Tales series is an example. You can make up for the lack of high levels with actual skill.

Thank you Bioware for making me cry my eyes out (wait, why am I thanking you for that?? :P ) and loudly gasp and cover my gaping mouth in shock (I startled my cat and made my husband look at me like I was crazy several times during my first playthrough, lol). This was a seriously spell-binding, edge of your seat story. MOOAARRRRR.

I remember farming like an machine in Tales of Phantasia... but I think that had another reason than gaining levels. Something with cooking or something... :P

I think it was in my second run where I tried to max out everything and getting all character traits (or whatever... memory is very fuzzy on this), inclyding having that one dude talk to every female in the game.

Great game btw, one of my favourite RPGs of all time.

I wholeheartedly agree with the OP, while there are things I had hoped to see, there are a lot of things that I received in this game that I am thankful for.  The character creator, on a whole, is more than I hoped, the vivid world of Thedas from rolling oceans to waving blades of grass, the main storyline and the companions.  Especially Dorian and the Iron Bull.

But... but... the character creator is a mess.

There's not a single area in the game that has the same lighting! I shouldn't have to think the entire time while creating a character that I should make the make up colour darker than I want it to be. Because if I don't, my character will turn out like some neon coloured freak.

There's other problems (the hair most notably, both in styles and the colours), but whoever gave the ok to a CC that has such unbelievably crappy lighting should lose his/her job.

Thank you, Bioware, for continuing this wonderful franchise with this awesome game. You've made such amazing new companions, and the returning friends are like a big 'welcome home' for me. My Amell Warden Commander is almost jealous of my Trevelyan Inquisitor for her Cullen romance, but she's not about to give up her Warden King ;)

The color seems consistent depending on where you're standing. The only issue I have with lightning in the CC is eyes but that's mitigated if I zoom in like crazy. Besides, all lighting options are used in the prologue to give you an idea of what your character looks like in all lightning schemes.

What platform do you play on?

PC, everything on ultra settings.

Do you use make up on your characters? Make up that isn't black?

Try giving your character some nice, dark reddish colour around the eyes and watch him/her leave the prison in the intro, coming outside, and having neon red colour around the eyes.

Same here.

Well I have only applied subtle black eyeliner on my male humans and one female elf to make their eyes look better but no I have generally avoided make-up so I don't know how it looks in general.

Sorry to hear that it's not great. Perhaps you should increase monitor brightness while in the CC.

I have given all my characters make up, lol.

I don't think I've ever been more excited than when I discovered I could use make up on males :D :P

And another thing about the cc: it's impossible to create a black character (or Asian for that matter) with a natural hair colour. You can somewhat get away with giving a white coloured character the colour that's supposed to be black, but on a black character it looks unnatural, and awful.

bbLrXv.png

I mean, look at that. This is the darkest possible colour and the eyebrows are grey! And when you compare it to Cassandra's hair, it's like they forgot to add a colour. You can also note the fluerescent colour around the eyes.

Not that I can't make great looking characters in the CC, but some things draw huge question marks in my mind. (as said the colours, but also the appaling hairstyles...)

This one is beyond fantastic though, I'm kinda in love with her :P but she would've had black hair if it were possible, not this grey colour (this is purposely grey, not the supposed to be black grey)

I would like to thank BioWare for creating divisive companions (Sebastian, Tallis, etc.), all of whom I believe are excellent, regardless of the popular stance on them. I love EVERY Dragon Age companion, from Vilified Vivienne to Adored Alistair!

Don't you have fifty other threads to ****** in?

*sees lots of likes* Oh, good. I got that right! Normally I would miss sarcasm. I suppose the poster was a bit of a hint, but still...

BTW: LOL. daveliam has sooo many likes, and in this thread, his (first) post has like 7 more likes than anyone else on that page. Looks like we've got a celebrity in our midst!

I'm grateful that I'm able to make a black character, so the hair color isn't really a big factor in determining that for me. So yea, not impossible, just not what you want.

I was being very specific: you can't make a black character with natural hair colour. At best, he/she's going to have some blue/grey kindof colour that's supposed to be black.

All in the meantime Cassandra's standing right next to you with pitch black hair

Grrr.

Actually, Cassandra's hair seems to be somewhere between Quizzy's hair colour and Morrigan's hair colour. It's weird, but it's definitely not as black/dark as Morrigan's.

It takes practice and patience, but you can give your characters pretty good make-up.  The only thing I haven't been able to do in a way that I liked was giving one of my females a blue-ish eyeshadow.

I do wish they'd given us the color wheel thing for hair though.  I'd also kill for a normal mustache option.  I like the handlebar mustache and the fu manchu sort of thing, but a less whimsical option would be nice for my more posh Inquisitors.

That's the REAL worst part of the character creator. The make-up is 5 times as strong in the game world than in the creator. It's hard not to wind up getting more than you expected.

Just look at the 3rd weakest intensity. It is almost impossible to see it on ultra settings (even if the game lags too much like on ultra like it does for me), yet it's very clear in the game.

I ended up letting my female Quizzy keep the eye shadow and/or mascara that she had in her pre-set appearance. Though I did manage to get the lipstick to work to my liking... if you ignore the fact that the 3rd weakest lip shine looked glossy enough for me in the CC, but ended up just a bit too bright in the inner parts of the lips, that it looked like she had a skin problem.

I played Tera. It was a fun game throughout, but I quit after spending 40 days farming a raid-difficutly dungeon with some friends to make one chestpiece for my tank (and reroll it around 30 times for better stats) that looked ugly as sin.

I gave away my account to one of my friends, apologized profusely, and gtfo before I wasted any more time.

Never again. *shiver*

I left Tera cuz I didint like the pepole lol, and it felt like a cheap and undone copy of Lineage 2, they ruined my old favourite, ahhh classic L2, they stole the L3 project... lol

Do you thank the people who dispose of your garbage? Do you thank the manufacturer who built your refrigerator? Do you thank the director for making your favorite movie?

Don't you think it's just a little hypocritical to thank Bioware but not thank any of the other companies who produce things that you enjoy or make your life easier?

This pepole dont have actual fan community, tho it would be nice to thank them to make them smile somtimes, Bioware asked us what WE want and we gave them feedback, we kinda got it, and dont tell me there are NO choices in this game, but I wont spoil any thing here. Your choices here dont affect one kingdom like in DAO but all of Thedas.

Thanks Bioware! Loving DA:I big time!

Is it perfect? Not quite but its closer than any RPG I have played in a long time.

Things I love about DA:I:

Great companions with real depth.

Huge beautiful areas to explore with lots of variety in terrain.

Detailed Character creation.

Things that could be improved:

Skyhold needs more customisation, its huge but most of it is of no use and rarely visited.

More cities and towns. So far I have seen Val Royeux, Crestwood and Redcliff. Could do with more urban environments.

Could do with a bit more unique epic loot. Most of the stuff I find ends up being sold off to buy influence at skyhold. Would really feel nice to do a dungeon/quest and get something really powerful and unique out of it.

Over all though I am very pleased!!

Okay thats it, when I see the forums I see only whine threads and complains and what coulde have been and what if threads, thats it, we need a thread to thank Bioware for working hard for 3 years on a game, that I dont know about you I love it! Sure, there are things I dont like about this game, and there are things I would not add at all, but nothing is PERFECT. This is a good game no! a GREAT game. So I pity Bioware, becouse lately E-V-E-R-Y game they release have whine threads why its not like its predessesor, pepole want DAO:2. And some even want DA2. Well I dont, I think DA games should be special not a cheap copy of the last ones. So now I want to stop a minute and say.. Thank you bioware for working hard, hard for 3 years, it must have been hard right? Anyway, thank you for a game, that I played 438 hours and growing, becouse its worth it! Thank you for a story that I think was a good one, right now EPIIIIICCCCCCCCC but a good one. Thank you for the characters that  have humanity in them, but I wont spoil anything not in this section of the forum lol... Anyway lets end this thank you, and for all of those that dont like DAI, remember, you have been warned by Morrigan duing Witch Hunt that change is coming to Thedas lol....
