Saw Eluveitie a bunch of times live. They're pretty good but there are usually much better, less known folk metal bands if you try do dig deeper. Try Myrkgrav or Månegarm as well. :)

I have been currently getting into lot of melodic death metal bands and its variations (mostly the ones where it's a combination of harsh/clean vocals. Love the contrast!).

If anyone has any good recommendations, I'd welcome it! Something akin to this. :)

With Blind Guardian, Thy Majestie, these guys and others it shows that a lot of these power metal bands are really big nerds.
This album from Evertale is about the Dragonlance Chronicles for example.

If you would like to hear melodic death with clean/harsh voice, you might have a look at Dark Tranquillity. Mikael Stanne has incredible voice:

Or, Amorphis:

Or, Scar Symmetry: *can not link more into this post*.

There are so many good bands...

Thanks! I already know these bands though. They're pretty much the elite of MDM along with Insomnium :)

Have some Melodic Death/Power/Folk Metal, just discovered them. Dat violin!

When a amazing guitarist like Ritchie Blackmore works with a amazing vocalist like Ronnie James Dio, magic happens. It's a shame they didn't reunite for a final  tour before Dio died.

Entombed's first album was killer at the time it was released. a lot of the early Swedish death metal bands had a signature sound, most notably the popular thick buzz-saw distortion on their guitar tone (usually achieved by using two distortions at once). Entombed, Grave, Dismember, Unleashed and others came up around the late 80's early 90's. these bands sounded a bit different than, say, the bands from the Tampa, Florida scene that was happening around the same time (Death, Obituary, Morbid Angel, Deicide, etc.) anyways, love this song:

and here's some Dismember:

its my favourite on this album as well.
its also a good song to end a concert:

starting at 45:17 (my favourite of all Behemoth songs, Chant for Eschaton 2000, is starting at 39:23)

and because Behemoth bassist Orion is also the vocalist of Vesania:

High On Fire is also working on a new album! it's being produced by Kurt Ballou again (guitarist of Converge) and the production quality of anything he produces sounds clear enough yet still got enough raw grit to it (if that makes sense  ) i think he still records with analog tape instead of using all the fancy smancy digital stuff these days.

Well if you like Sabbath inspired stuff with a lot of fuzz, Witch is also another band worth checking out.
