probably my favorite Testament song.

weird to think Kirk Hammit used to be in this band before he joined Metallica. Metallica's old stuff is legendary but they started going down hill with the black album and never really regained a strong foothold on the thrash metal scene. if you compare them to some of the other bands that have been around as long as them, bands like Exodus, Testament, Anthrax and even Megadeth are currently making some of the best music they've made. just my opinion though.  ;)

anyway, crazy Exdous song:

Germany has some EDIT: more*  good bands, too:

One of my favourite bands of all time. They have a bunch of great albums (including Middle-Earth concept album).

*Because Deathangel008 has right: there are lots of good bands in Germany ;)

i miss ISIS so much but at least there are some other music projects that were started after the split. Old Man Gloom was started by Aaron Turner (ex-ISIS) and it's pretty badass.

there is also Palms which was started by the other former members of ISIS and Chino Moreno of Deftones on vocals. cool stuff!

I'm glad I at least got to see them once live before they called it quits.

Outside of those two you mentioned, I fill the ISIS void in my heart and ears with Cult of Luna, Rosetta and good ol' Neurosis.

i was just going to post some Neurosis!  :D

Neurosis have been around for a loooooong time and have influenced bands like ISIS and Mastodon. i know Mastodon practically worships them.

a cool thing about this thread is getting the opportunity to hear more bands that some people (like myself) haven't heard before. i've been looking more into In Vain, Moonsorrow and some others. even added some albums to my amazon wishlist for future use.  :D

hmm, i prefer the original:

true. originals are always better but  it's an awesome cover. you should check out Napalm Death's 'Leaders Not Followers parts 1 & 2' all covers of metal songs.

anyways, i noticed a severe lack of grindcore so here's some Carcass:

and some more old school Napalm Death:
