Thanks all - I may take the info on the collection missions to heart. I can see the bottle ones getting skipped, unless I just happen to hear 'hey, lets check out the area'
Finished my 1st playthrough! Thanks to all that posted!

When you have "In Your Heart Shall Burn" at the war table, take a deep breath and make a save...

and make sure you have recovery time (possibly a box of tissues and a glass of wine as well)... ![]()
Collecting the mosaic pieces does lead to an interesting codex entry for each one completed (there does seem to be a bug with the Hinterlands pieces though)
The astrariums and shards are worth completing
The rest are more for the OCD (no, not me, ever, well, maybe sometimes, or most of the time
)
And on companion approval - don't panic if you get some disapproval -it's going to happen and there are plenty of opportunities to gain back approval.

If you like Sera and she's in your party when you enter an area for the first time, select the flirting options with Scout Harding. Free approval, even if romancing the elf-hating elf.

Ok all new question, and this one has been bugging me just a tad on the harder enemies.
Tactical camera and character AI - recently got Sera (she is hillarious) and Iron Bull....went to take on the Fereldan Dragon. What I've tried is this: send my snipers to higher points, out of range, and then control about two characters and take on the Dragon directly
What I've noticed is this: the moment I use the Battle Cam and send Verric or another bow carrying Rogue to point 'X' on the Map, he/she does not stay there. They go there and then immediately do whatever......
If I use the Halt option on my Radial Dial, then all the characters sit there and die super quick. Should I turn AI off? What do others do?
So, to sum up: if I move a Mage or a Rogue to a certain point on a map, such as the higher point, how to heck do I get them to move there and stay there?
Thanks all

Hold is painfully bad in DAI. I generally don't bother with it, although there is a puzzle later in the game that requires it.
As to that dragon, I wouldn't recommend it at anything below level 10 to save quite a bit of frustration.

Yeah, good call.....so basically, the battle cam is useless insofar as sending my team out to certain points on the battle map?
The hold option seems to be more of a suggestion? My only complaint, and one that I hope is really tweaked. Its a non issue for non boss battle types, but for a dragon, it would be swell if the actually did what you want. I would have bitched slapped him at level 9

I've never had a problem with being overleveled in this game. I do everything I can, so I don't attempt level 12 rifts in The Hinterlands, until later, but I'll do most everything else. The best part about doing everything you can in every quest, is that you feel less like you're taking too long to finish areas the further along the main story you are. Like, if you still have more than 50% of every area, when you're up to What Pride Had Wrought. I'm never more than 5 levels higher than the strongest enemies, unless I miss an area that should have been done earlier.
A good tip is to do everything before you complete Doom Upon The World, because you get locked out of stuff when you try to do things post-game.

Single-click in tac cam is move to point, double-click is move to point and hold position at point. If you're just having them move to point, they're going to wander around later. Also, if you issue certain subsequent orders, those can override a previous order to hold.

The best order for areas IMO:
The Hinterlands (minus areas in between level 12 rifts - the south-west portion)
Val Royeaux
The Fallow Mire (for a challenge, or else the Storm Coast first)
The Storm Coast
Champions of the Just OR In Hushed Whispers
Skyhold
The Forbidden Oasis (and Solas'an Temple*)
The Hinterlands level 12 rifts and areas in between
Crestwood
The Western Approach
Adamant
The Hinterlands high dragon
The Exalted Plains
The Crestwood high dragon
The Western Approach high dragon
Halamshiral
The Crossroads (talk to the spoiler character)
The Emerald Graves and high dragon
The Arbour Wilds
The Final Piece
The Storm Coast Red Templars (level 11, I think) and Dragon Island (level 19)
The Hissing Wastes and high dragon
Emprise du Lion and high dragons
The Forbidden Oasis final door in Solas'an Temple (level 24 enemy)
Area clean up
Doom Upon All The World
* Do Solas'an Temple whenever, preferably with cold and fire high dragons in mind; taking the fire and cold doors before the spirit door.

The Forbidden Oasis (and Par'as Cavern*)
The Forbidden Oasis final door in Par'as Cavern (level 24 enemy)
* Do Par'as Cavern whenever, preferably with cold and fire high dragons in mind; taking the fire and cold doors before the spirit door.
The cave you open with the shards is the Solasan temple. Par'as cavern is the one northeast with the spiders and the wedding ring quest.

Oh, is it? Not sure why I thought it was Par'as, but anyway... fixed.

Ok thanks all - I guess I had not been aware of the single and double click via the battle cam. That did help.
Well, it took a bit of time, but I took out the Fereldan Dragon - I tried to focus on a leg, but never did get the thing to lose a limb.
Aside from the dragon, I pretty much am a wrecking ball now - level 13, and I am encountering level 11's or so that just have no chance.
Does it get harder or should I consider increasing from Normal to hard mode? In the first two games, I found the combat pretty easy on Normal until the end. I still have nightmares of the Branka part in Origins - that was a tough battle on the 360 version on normal mode....

Up the difficulty when it gets easy.
Enemies use additional mechanics that make fights more difficult.
You will find dragon fights get insane for un-optimized characters on Nightmare (assuming small difference in levels).
The Exalted Plains one was awesome!
Eventually you reach a point where even Nightmare + FF is relatively easy, but that's not until you're in the level 20's with maximized crafted gear and having completed most of the zones and quests.

Normal felt pretty easy to me. Hard is a bit better. Haven't done my nightmare run yet. Dragon fights can be a bit touchy on hard if you are under leveled or not well prepared. Crafting is your friend;) Other than the dragon fights the game difficulty stays fairly consistent through to the end unless you end up above level 20 (I've hit level 24 in both of my playthroughs due to my completionist OCD). Above level 20 things become a lot easier.

As it appears that the Immunities from DA2 no longer apply, Nightmare difficulty has been challenging for myself; not frustrating (except when Berserk effects were active), and not too easy either.
However, Friendly Fire is still awaiting an appearance; far too many possible effects that must be considered.

The game only gets easier the longer you go, since you gain new abilities whereas enemies stay fairly static in their AI. If you think it's creeping towards easy definitely up the difficulty to balance it.

Do not try to play the game by completing one area at a time:
http://kotaku.com/ps...ands-1661855879
Doesn't visiting an area lock it into a level range after you first visit it? So that it can only scale up to a particular level? I briefly visited the Emerald Graves, then did Emprise and the Wastes, and then went back to the Graves and everything was at the same level as before, and useless to me experience-wise.

Emerald Graves seems to have higher level enemies in the northern parts across the river than in the southern areas where you first arrive. Although you probably out leveled the whole area if you did Emprise and Wastes first. I think the giants where level 18 and the dragon in Emerald was 19 last time I went through it with my warrior.

No.
I guess Emerald Graves is just mid-high level then. Oh well. So easy to over-level in this game.

I guess Emerald Graves is just mid-high level then.
EG has 15-16 level enemies near the start camp, and up to level 20 north of the river.
So easy to over-level in this game.
Indeed.

Changed the difficulty to Hard and its a noticeable jump....I was able to clear a level 12 breech though, so it seems about right
I unlocked the mission In your Heart Shall burn some time ago, but have not done it for fear of areas closed off once I do.
So far, I've cleared Hinterlands, Marsh area, the Storm Coast (aside from one area) and had started Forbidden orlais.......and had saved that mission after. Do it now, or wait?

If you have cleared the Hinterlands, then you apparently have things settled in Redcliffe. if so, you should be of enough strength to advance the story currently; hard saves are recommended before gameplay.
It also appears that the only Companion missing is Cole, and he should appear soon. For myself, he is the best new character in the game. Be sure to listen not only to him, but to others speaking of him, too.
Enjoy!
