Oh, i got Cole days ago.

Not sure if I have all the companions, but I had quite a few now. 2 mages not including myself, couple Rouges, warriors.....

Love Vivenne

And doing the mission now - so far, just a cool cutscene. Back in haven talking with Cassandra

Ok, so the missions can be odd. I've held onto the 'Passing Notes' mission for Days with the only clue: keep this for later. Just did the In your Heart and after Haven is being attacked. Now game says the Passing notes is complete. Not whether I did it or not.

None of the areas get closed off when you do In Your Heart. So long as you've completed all the quests based in Haven you should be good to go.

Skyhold is a big upgrade from Haven so I'd get there asap.

There are three of each Class. I recommend getting them before moving on to other locales, if you have any missing. Possibly, it may be Dorian, but that might be because you chose to side with the Templars; seek confirmation, then he will be the last one added.

Correct; I did side with the Templars. I have Iron Bull, Varric, Solas, Vivienne, cole, blackwall, sera, Cassandra and myself.

And wiki'd the Passing notes - just had to talk with the Adian guy. All done now

The only Hinterlands side mission not done is the one in need of Hinterland Locks. Argh. hate having incomplete quests....and ones that I seemed to have no control over (random drops)

Perhaps one is simply in need of more housing for his troops. Or has wanderlust. Or... hard saves still recommended.

Easiest way is just to type [spoiler ] [/spoiler ] tags around what you want to tag.

Some tips for when you get to Skyhold:

  • Don't forget to pick up the specialization quest ASAP.
  • Follower specializations unlock as well, but you need to take them on a mission for those to show up.
  • You can grow your own herbs in the garden. When you pick up plants there is a chance that you pick up seeds as well, and then you can grow that plant.
  • You have access to resource gathering war table mission for the areas you have unlocked. For this reason it is advisable to unlock ares as soon as you can afford to (you don't have to go there, unlocking is enough). Cullen will provide metals, Leliana herbs and Josephine a bit of both.

To place Spoiler tags, place [ and ] around the term Spoiler before the message, and [/] around Spoiler afterwards, much like quote is used.

That said, I love your fix!

Avoid Knight Enchanter - it is much too overpowered.

When using this 'reply to this topic' box the icon above U is labelled 'Special BBCode'. The Spoiler tag is in there.

This is a fun thread. I started playing on release day. Got to skyhold, became a tempest, completed Hinterlands, Storm Coast, Fallow Mire, Forbidden Oasis and was just starting Crestwood. Then life happened. Now I'm about to start with a new character, in part by choice and in part by necessity. My PS4 decided to permanently start in safety mode. Needless to say, I had to wipe the system and with it all of my saves.

Anyways, I am now just getting started and its fun seeing other players enjoy their first steps in this one. Its a great game. I only wish there was more content in each of the areas. Preferably content that is related to the main story.

Other than that, its a great game in a good setting filled with memorable characters and fun, flashy combat.

Welcome.

When picking a specialization get all of your companions specializations up before and look at the skills/spells you will get with them and pick the one that looks best to you.

Save before you chose a specialization and log down the save date and time and don't over write it. This is the only way to change your specialization if the one you chose is not for you.

I lost a 40 hour character by not keeping a save before setting a specialization I didn't like.

Hey all - took a little break to play order 1886 but am back. 60 hours in. Still having fun, though I appreciate some complaints of this being overly long.......

Two questions on mark of the rift and the diamond symbols above your mapped abilities on the screen.

I noticed on a you tube video (for pc) that mark of the rift has a stamina fill bar - for the life of me, can't tell if the Ps4 version has such an indicator? Can never tell when mark of the rift is about to be usable. Also, what are the symbols (diamond looking) just above the mapped abilities? I thought maybe it was the console equivalent, but not sure?

This game could have used a detailed in game manual........

Thank you in advance!!!

Ok been testing it. And I guess the diamond symbols are the focus ability? different looking than PC......starts at the top, and flashes a solid color looking one when full. Mark of the Rift avail after that...

Sorry, answered my own question I think

They are focus indicators. Every diamond represents 10 focus points. When you have 100 points it will become (part of) solid circle. This means you can use tier 1 focus ability. When you purchase the advanced and master focus perks, you can build up focus up to 200 and 300 focus points, letting you use tiers 2 and 3, respectively. When you have 300 focus points the indicator will be a full circle. You can view the exact numeric value of your current and maximum focus points at the character sheet, near the bottom.

Slow and steady at the moment. After playing Origins and DA2 back-to-back, then going into this one right away. Got to the 55 hour mark and needed a little break. Too much DA and all that....lol. That said, back at it, though being a little selective with some quests.

And the one quest that has me annoyed: hinterlands locks - can not get one baddie to drop one. Quest has been in my list for half the game now. lol

The enemies that drop these essentially stop spawning when you move to Skyhold. They don't stop altogether but become quite rare.

Yeah, Ferelden Locks and Decorative gems are basically impossible after you've cleared the Hinterlands, best to just ignore it and, it you feel like it come try later.

I hope that in a future patch Bioware gives us the option to close out a quest, such as that one. Its no biggie, but I like clearing out my quests log as much as possible. I am a little OCD that way

Really blown away by how HUGE this game is. I do hope, however, we get some DLC options for new gear - as grand as the outfits are, I'd like a little more variety that way.
