Dying and working good don't go together. FS works OK, but FC start --> walk into enemy --> PotA on top of yourself --> FC decloaking blast --> SF / CL works amazing on an AW. Murder everything. That is, if fire mine, walking bomb, charge --> mighty blow, TF / DB, dragon rage, etc doesn't kill steal with fish in the barrel you've setup. Either way, works amazing as a team.

 

I have a problem with that. Ok, I walk carefully to the edge of the spawn, I cast PotA on top of myself, I try to fade cloak, guess what happens? I'm dead, yes, eating dirt. Sometimes I'm dead after decloaking, barrier has not come up yet. What am I doing wrong? Guessing game.

 

From distance it works pretty well. Also, can fade step to cover after doing the dirty part of the job to quietly regenerate manna and pam-pam stray remains of the spawn with the staff.

If you don't like your teammates killing faster than you, that's ok, but they certainly will outclass 'dps' keeper builds by a lot.

I might keep trying but I'm not sure I can pull it off without a good video. It is not as easy as it sounds. Also, just noticed, I did not take static charge. Well, indeed, I never ever took it. That might be one of the reasons for getting attacked/interrupted.

I know it isn't easy at first, and it is awkward for unfamiliar players. There's some video in my build list of me demonstrating what I do, but it is not played optimally in there. Situational awareness does matter in how to play here, as opposed to SB spamming (and getting blocked & knocked down).

 

You absolutely need static charge, and to continually recast fade cloak, walking into enemies as often as possible, while keeping everything weakened for the passive bonus synergies.

This is complete vindication for what I've been saying here. Thank you for making this thread and providing solid proof.  Everyone who disagreed with me about AW being OP and questioned my experience can eat crow.

I could've sworn the argument in your thread was mainly about the Archer having higher DPS. This video doesn't disprove that.

I think what you dont realize is that first of all there has been probably hundreds of posts about this exact subject on these very forums. I guess people are tired of hearing the same story over and over again. There were threads about AW being OP back in early december!

Second, what does it matter? It's not like anyone is competing here. This is a coop game, not a PVP game. Balance is not nescessary. If a character is OP, then if thats what you want to play - then play it.

I just automaticly assume that anyone who plays AW in my game is going to be an idiot, and more often than not - I am correct.

Also, when you said that archer is useless when it comes to damage, it just proved that you had no idea what you were talking about.

The only thing you can quote me on saying is that the AW is by far more effective than the archer, which is true.   All the rogue classes can do damage but not enough to keep up with the AW.  The attacks have cool downs and take time and consideration to pull off.

I forgot to respond to your other statement. If you don't think people are competing for high scores in damp than you're in a fantasy land.  This is actually encouraged with classes like the AW, they will NEVER play team work or help revive teamates. It's like an infectious disease. Soon as you start using one you become corrupted and over confident.  It already happened to my friend.  He used to be so team oriented and communicating. Now he just runs into mobs of enemies and doesnt give a crap about anybody else.  Brags when he gets to the stat screen showing him #1. It's too easy.

 

It needs to be balanced, because when you play with AW theres nothing to do but sit back and watch.

When I first started I loved the idea of playing as an archer. I like the idea of using a bow and I wanted to get into that character. Well in this game they are useless, they can really only focus on one enemy at a time, weak dps and cannot take any hits.  You'll be sitting back like a sucker trying to snipe when the AW is clearing out massive mobs of enemies.

What cooldowns? Archer with Opportunity Knocks and Looked Like it Hurt can just spam Long Shot and Leaping Shot.

There's absolutely no way of "misunderstanding" a quote saying the archer has weak dps. None.
