There's absolutely no way of "misunderstanding" a quote saying the archer has weak dps. None.
Ok you win, the archer is more powerful than the AW. What the heck was I thinking?

I forgot to respond to your other statement. If you don't think people are competing for high scores in damp than you're in a fantasy land. This is actually encouraged with classes like the AW, they will NEVER play team work or help revive teamates. It's like an infectious disease. Soon as you start using one you become corrupted and over confident. It already happened to my friend. He used to be so team oriented and communicating. Now he just runs into mobs of enemies and doesnt give a crap about anybody else. Brags when he gets to the stat screen showing him #1. It's too easy.
It needs to be balanced, because when you play with AW theres nothing to do but sit back and watch.
The thing about most OP classes is that the more enemies they have to themselves, the more effective they are. The more enemies that an AW has to swing at the more immortal he becomes, the more enemies a legionnaire has to proc walking fortress cooldown, the more enemies an archer has to crit and kill with longshot for stamina gain and cooldown reduction, etc.
I agree with you that the way this game works encourages selfishness, but at the end of the day it is because people are aiming for effectiveness. Strange indeed a game where you become more powerful the fewer allies you have to help you. One of the main reasons I almost exclusively play as keeper is that I just don't like being the one who kills all the mobs before allies have a chance to.

That is the biggest problem with the AW. Not that it is OP, but the nature of the class and game scoring mechanics discourages team play for the AW. Nope, can't rez you because my shield will run out, and it is risky to do so. Lemme solo everything instead ... $#(*&^$ AW.

This I can agree with. The opeenis of the AW doesn't bother me a bit. I can totally relate when I'm in a group with one and they get all ADHD about working with their group. Perhaps it's only fitting that the best class to solo with is actually more easily played as a lone wolf. However, imho, the class isn't exactly thrilling to play. In fact, I feel like it's too much work to try and keep barrier up and it gets a bit too frantic.
This is a great video, total pro dude. Although I'm having a hard time attempting to do what you're doing. I tried the build today, and can't get my barrier up fast enough without Chain Lightning. (Maybe I just need more practice) I see how you're able to do it with hitting a lot of enemies with Fade Step, that's awesome. I am heinously bad at moving around with that spell. It's great for closing the distance though, a must have.
For me, PotA is such a huge mana draw, there's no reason to have both CL and PotA that's for sure. Shelled, the build you have looks like it's boss for when you're in a group of folks you know/can communicate with, especially if there are other mages to AOE to capitalize on the positioning of your PotA, and really helpful if you run with a Keeper or Elementalist to buff you with a Barrier before the pull. If you've got that, there's no reason for CL.
A few other reasons I dislike PotA is that it's bugged, and sometimes, mobs teleport out of it, and they aren't together, especially when I want to melt FC all over their faces. Also, on some levels, when you use it, it seems to agro other groups, and pull the entire level. And, it's got a long animation time, when you're swarmed, it doesn't make sense to use it. I seem to only use it on the pull, and barely during a boss fight. I think the big reason to use it is for synergy with weakening enemies, thus buffing your damage, and then for helping your team AOE.
But for pure solo builds, and when pugging, I get by quite easily soloing on Threatening and pugging on Perilous with good players at least without PotA, I'm using CL, both FS and FC and SB of course. Having CL is great in a pinch vs pesky archers and I just feel I play better with it over PotA.

You need a few promotions to get barrier that high without fade cloak or chain lightning. He is doing 2k with fade cloak I have an idea how much will power he has but not certain because that could be a crit damage the work of cunning. My guess would be 76+ will power, then again it is hard to tell because of cunning, it could be way less.

Yeah... Gonna be a while before I get that strong. I'm around 10 cunning and 15 willpower right now. Wish I would've started out on MP. I foolishly spent 200 hours in SP before I even touched it.

I used to think the same! But believe me, it is not too late.
I played about 280 hours of SP before getting into MP. And then when I got into MP at first I had to be carried unashamedly and I thought I would never be any good. A few weeks have passed and now I have 40 willpower and 52 cunning. It just takes some dedication, patience and most importantly friends to play with ![]()
What was your constitution/willpower/cunning at the time?
Increasing stats while progressing was a terrible idea. Bioware should of implemented a non-power creep grind worthy approach.
My willpower is 90, my cunning is 50, constitution 19. I don't feel leveling constitution is necessary because I prefer to play ranged classes over melee, also it takes around 45 or 50 constitution promotions to negate 1 archer shot in perilous so to me its a waste of time better spent in other areas. Just my personal opinion though.

Don't take this question the wrong way but do you skip work, sleep, eating, showering and wiping your own ass to play this game?

You also level a lot faster if you exclusively play perilous with a team that is generating a lot of XP and doing runs fast by skipping guardian doors, as well as leaving the game at boss wave at lvl 20, promoting, then rejoining to get back to level 9 for the next run. If you leave a game and rejoin the same game even on a different character all that XP you generated will still be given to you.
My total playtime for multiplayer is something like 450'sh hours, I haven't actually touched damp much in the last 3 weeks. There are people out there with way more than that. I just try to be as efficient as possible with my time so I probably have more promotes than people who have played more actual hours than me.
I just play the weekend events now and am waiting for new content before I take it seriously again. I was rank 20 when I played a lot, now I dropped to 44.
yeah guys keep cyring for nerfs. Maybe Bioware cares and instead of making weak classes stronger and give us a new difficulty level they just make the AW useless with the next patch.
GOOD JOB COMMUNITY. You probably made AW useless with the next patch!

there's a difference regarding balance between making a class completely useless, and being able to solo perilous easily.
But I will agree with you just in a different context. Barrier itself is just stupidly overpowered and unfortunately the arcane warrior is built around it.
I do think the should buff a lot of classes though.

Crying for nerfs is the most stupid thing a community can do. Even Blizzard realized that nerfing fun characters is really a bad thing. They started to buff other classes in Diablo 3 instead and players are happy with it. Just give all characters a build which makes them able to solo perilious (with enough promotions and good gear) and add 2 more challenging difficulty levels nobody can solo. Easy and much more convinient.
Just take the AW as a model for a fun and strong character and balance the weaker classes until the are as strong and fun to play.

The last thing I want is to carry the team on my back, revive all my teamates, kill the most and come in 2nd to an AW who did less work.
duno what you guys talking about regarding reviving. You just pop a fade step to the guy, fade cloak to go invuln and get them up....
You must have played with some terrible arcane warriors. I usually carry everything from revives, to most kills, to tanking everything.

Selfish AW don't want to waste a slot on a skill for reviving. I on the other hand do use fade cloak to revive teamates in the heat of battle with my keeper.

What are you talking about, what skill slot is a waste for reviving? Fade cloak? If they're not reviving team mates in perilous when nobody else can then they're bad.

Where have you been? The AW doesnt need anybody on perilous. If you die playing with an AW, you will have the privelege of watching the AW finish the match solo in all glory. It's beneath the AW to even consider reviving all you other scrubs.

Not to interrupt your crusade or anything, but it sounds like your problem is more with players who are jerks than it is with the fact that they're playing an Arcane Warrior.

It's really not the players fault. It's the AW that corrupts those that use them. It happened to my good friend. Since he started using the AW he doesnt give a crap about anyone else. He's a good person but the AW's power corrupted and possessed him.

It's true!!!
I used to be a goody two shoes who opened doors for the elderly and revived team mates. After I've played an AW, his insidious taint has destroyed my innocence and blackened my soul. Now I steal candies from babies, and cackle malevolently when doing so.
I havent watched the video just yet, but how many promotions on each class you have done already and what items you wear?
serious thats the first thread about this.. ?
I thought ppl doing this since.. uhm last year ?
I thought the AW / NEC / TE / ELE combo whombo is well known.. same as the archer stuff... iam realy surprised to see such a thread here... but bump.. bc the TE is correct... you see so many AW´s that don´t know what they are doing. I like to lean back.. clap and to cheer them while they are doing "their" stuff.
