Even though his father Bodahn Feddic is absent in the game, his son Sandal Feddic from Origins and DA2 makes a guest appearance in one of the Cells as you walk around a section of The Fade although I'm not sure if it is him in that cell. What's he doing there? My guess it's just an Easter egg and a very lousy Easter egg at that. 
Sandal needs to fing die in a fire.
I miss the Dog. Maybe not as a full-blown companion, but as a skill/power or something.

I liked Shale, a lot, too, and although I think it would have been hard to find a place to fit her in for DA: I, who knows what the developers have up their sleeves for DLC and expansions.

Speaking of Shale, I recall that she was to appear in the cut plot "Finding Shale" for Dragon Age 2 but the plot was replaced with Finding Nathaniel.
I miss Shale. She feels like the witty gay friend of DA:O.
Yeah, me too. Hopefully we'll get to meet Shale and Sandal again (we know Sandal will be back, just not when), and hopefully The Warden's Dog is with him/her. It's disappointing Hawke's Dog doesn't appear, but I think that might just be because he's DLC.
I'm thinking they left Sandal out so that they could bring him back after Bodahn dies, but it could be another few decades before he dies, so maybe not.

Think Wynne died in a book and anyone that hasn't read them is just going to be left wondering what happened to her. No idea what happened to Shale, but I imagine it wouldn't be to hard to find her. All you'd have to do is find out about any mass bird stompings and follow the trail of tiny corpses.

Shale's dead in my canon story but yeah, she would've been a cool addition. I do miss teh Mabari but Sandal? Hell no, I can't stand little retard.

I like Nathaniel a lot so was glad to see him in DA2. They sure did a much better job on getting his DAO looks down 
than they did on Alistair and Zevran.

Not really... Nathaniel's eyes are different colors between Dragon Age Awakening and Dragon Age II - gray in Dragon Age Awakening and light brown in Dragon Age II; this may be due to a mistake by the developers. Same can be said about his sister since Delilah's hairstyle is also different.
Sandal yes, I wish we had the option to recruit him and Bodahn over Dagna.
Dog ehhh yes, but it makes sense to not have one this time around. Inquisition is primarily based out of Orlais, and none of the PC characters are from Fereldan. Mabari are more of a Fereldan thing.
Shale yes, but no more than any of the other characters from Origins. I guess it does make sense that they wouldn't want a DLC character to make a cameo.

Yes, but different eye colors aren't too bad of a thing when you compare how badly they did on Alistair's and Zevran's entire faces. Nathaniel could just be wearing colored contacts. 
They didn't have golems at all in the game (or shrieks, ogres or genlocks for that matter), so I wouldn't hope for a Shale cameo ever.
