Hello, I want to start my own PW and I want to use CEP 2.4 (What does anyone suggest?) and possibly other hak's. Does anyone have any advice on this? Do I go to the Community Expansion pack website or can anyone give me some links on how to do this?

Greetings.

You can get the CEP and links to instructions here:

http://neverwintervault.org/cep

Current version is 2.60.

As for advice:

I use the CEP in my PW (along with Project Q and a ton of my own custom content and content independently collected from the Vault).

CEP has a ton of content to work with...some is a bit outdated, some is new (since it covers content from the beginning of NWN up to last August). There's really more content included than any one PW would really use.

Project Q is a smaller collection, but it updates a lot of old original NWN content while providing a bunch of new, high quality content.

CEP and Project Q are not compatible out of the box, requiring custom 2da and hak editing to get them to work together.

Keep in mind once you add CEP you cant remove it.

Well, I'm not sure why you'd want to remove CEP, since most players have it, and it provides a considerable collection of the best custom content at a stroke. However, you can remove CEP or any other hak. It just becomes more difficult as time goes on, because you'd want to remove the instances from your module first (using Moneo, perhaps) - but why would anyone do that?

Learning to edit 2DA files and merge haks is an essential skill, whether you use CEP or not. I'd advise learning about that first.

Yup. It's just like any other hak in NWN. Once you build with the content from any hak file(s), you can't remove the hak(s) from the module...unless you want that content to just vanish from sight and probably cause other issues or go through the work of fixing any creatures/placeables/doors/etc. that used content from the haks.

I already know where to get the CEP and I thank you all for your replies but what I meant was isn't there documentation I have to read on understanding all the haks involved and putting them into your own PW? A guide so to speak?

Is what I'm looking for in all the text files (stuff that goes in the .docs folder)? The text that explains how to use the cep and put it in?

The installation link that Knight_Shield posted above tells you everything you need to know to install CEP.

There isn't any comprehensive documentation of the contents. All you have to do after installation is to explore the new material in the toolset. There are new tilesets, item types, creature / placeable appearances, armour parts, you name it. I also find it helpful to browse the 2DA files (e.g. looking for a cup, I would text search placeables.2da for the precise description, which is "TableObj: Cup...").

There is a docs folder in the 2.60 download, with some older documents that touch on a few of the more obscure aspects, but for the most part I find exploring is the best way of learning.
