I know some folks don't even want multiplayer for Mass Effect 4, but I hope they will bring another version of it for the 4th game. The multiplayer of Mass Effect 3 was very good, I really enjoyed it even when it was kinda "simple". They did many things right with it.

I'd personally like to see some more character customization for the multiplayer, like you could actualy pick the race and the class, then decide what kind of armor you want to wear.

Also some adventure mode wouldn't hurt. Where you and your friends run trough story-based gauntlet. There would be randomized events for each time and some dialogue you and your friends could roll on. Pretty crude as idea, but something of this sort.

What improvements you guys would guys like to see on future MP of ME4? :)

I would like the ability to get in vehicles and also man turrets or cannons and would also like every kit to have a special race ability or two.I would love more higher difficulties and new enemy factions to Beat up lol.

As far as I'm concerned "kinda simple" is an understatement.

When I first heard of Bioware MP my first thought were about story based gauntlet as you put it, I'd love to see that. Considering the success they had with ME3's shell of a MP game, I doubt they'll ever invest that much into it.

At the very least, working with frostbite they won't get away with the closet sized levels we saw in ME3.

But we'll get horrible netcode and hit detection in return. And the level size wasn't about the engine. UE3 was more than enough to create large enviroments, the last-gen consoles just ran out of memory and (graphical) processing power.

But, on to the point;

- More character customization

- Larger/more complex maps

- Vehicles on large maps

- Progressive objective mode

- Less bloated weapon selection

- Co-Op only (NO PvP, NO competitive)

- Text chat

- Better VOIP

^Very true. The recent Battlefields had some seriously annoying issues when it came to hit detection and wonky mechanics (head glitching, melee detection, etc).

I think they should look a bit into games like Payday for some ideas.

I say get rid of multiplayer unless Mass effect is going to end up coop. If it isnt then scrap it.

It just takes away from being able to put more into the storyline and gameplay.

Lets not turn mass effect into a lame cod game haha

ME3MP was a big success, I really doubt there won't be a MP in ME4.

As long as ME does not become a BF in space with the SP being merely more than a 10hr tutorial for the p2w MP I'm ok with it.

I believe that MP for ME:Next was confirmed a while ago; during one of the gaming related events from last year if I am not mistaken; which is exciting news since the ME 3 MP was so fun to play.

As far as improvements are concerned, I would like to see:

  •  New character types complete with new powers and gameplay mechanics, and by new characters I don't just mean a female Turian with A, B, and C powers, or a male Quarian with increased proficiency with certain weapons. I mean completely unique classes/kits like a playable Rachni or Elcor, something that has an entirely new approach to gameplay compared to the 'standard' characters.

  •  Bigger maps with more variety, also expand upon the level hazard mechanic and have levels designed around a particular element. Maybe a map taking place in and around an orbiting space station, where players who have the appropriate space wear (see fully enclosed helmets) or are a species that can survive harsh conditions (Geth and/or Rachni) can exit the interior structure and do battle out in the vacuum surrounding the station.

  •  Speaking of appropriate space wear, I would like to see customization of our characters take on a bigger role, one that goes beyond simple cosmetic changes. I would like to see the option to swap out individual pieces of armor, each complete with their own stats and advantages/disadvantages; a chest plate with "+ shield capacity" coupled with greaves that provide "increased shield regeneration" for example.

There is a lot of pre-existing MP features to build off of, but there are some specific features that I do NOT want to see carried over to ME: Next; at least not without a major overhaul to certain features mechanics. Most of these features are limited to DA:I's MP but since both MP teams bounce ideas off each other, this applies to Mass Effect as well IMO.

Things I don't want to see:

  •  A completely random unlock system for weapons and armor, and no manifest to determine how far you have progressed into the overall available content. Playing DAMP, I have no idea if I have unlocked all the available great swords or maces in the game because there is no way to see if I am missing a weapon from those categories.

  • Speaking of weapon and armor unlocks, I don't like the non-linear, item level system in DAMP. A purple/unique (the equivalent of an ultra rare) weapon should be at least as powerful as, if not moreso, a common/starting weapon. Unlocking a lvl 3 purple alongside a lvl 23 grey removes any sort of consistency to the unlock progression and ultimately frustrates players when the game is giving us cheap knock off versions of items that should be quite powerful. At least in ME 3 MP you knew what you were getting as you unlocked subsequent versions of weapons; weapons that were better than the previous versions.

  • Unless we are going to have a fully integrated co-op campaign, and each of our MP characters a going to be as fleshed out as the SP companions are, DO NOT make the MP kits pre-set characters. Keeping the characters generic will help players to be able to place themselves into the role of said character, and will at the same time eliminate people being turned off to particular classes because of their pre-established personality (I'm looking at you Dalish Keeper).

  • This is more of a sub-point to the one above, but DO NOT try to integrate party banter into ME:Next unless we are going to get a fully integrated co-op campaign and fully fleshed out characters. Saying "Good Shoot" upon killing a tough opponent or "Thanks!" when a person is revived is acceptable, but please don't try to inject some artificial flavoring into the MP by having the characters say one or two lines back and forth. If I never hear "Anyone try that ham they had at camp the other day?" again it will be too soon.

Story based missions and shipped with an editor so players can create their own. Best ones submitted can be made official and distributed to consoles. I believe that make the games lifetime grow by a huge degree.

That would be great with friends only, especially if you could play it on the coutch together. But have you played Star Wars The Old Republic? They have story and conversations in their dungeons and it's an absolute pain in the ass. When you play it the first time everyone keeps presuring you to skip beacuse they have already seen it a million times and when you've played it a million times you'll sit there and be bored to tears while some jerk won't even skip!

Jokes aside though, a structure kind of like the single player missions would be great as an alternative to the wave type maps we've got already, but only aslong they keep any conversations to a bare minimum. They just don't work for repeatable multiplayer content.

Some great ideas here.

Customize character armor: As with ME3 SP, ability to piece together a suit with chosen upgrades (ie. upgraded shielding, faster shield recharge, medigel heal on kill, targeting vi, mobility, power amp, melee, grenade capacity, etc.. and all starting at level1 and futher upgrades say to level 5 maxed) but to be able to piece together an armor set relevant to the character and your playstyle.  Also, light/medium/heavy armors for the different classes.

Customize character weapons: Similar to ME3 MP.  Loved all the mods BW added.  Perhaps even the ability to change weapon colors, add emblems, scuffs/damage.

Maps: Large, multi-piece, progressive maps similar to DAMP.  This is something I would have loved for ME3MP rather than just horde mode.

Missions: Looking at this like we are agents/soliders/what have you, and these are the types of missions occuring in the background that in SP you might hear referenced in game.  Anyhow, the missions are based on behinds the SP scenes, and we're playing them out.  (ie what did all those 'assets' from ME3 provide towards success vs the Reapers')

Vehicles: As mentioned above, add turrets for instance.  A player or two mans the turrets focused on larger units, while one player on the ground protects another player from adds, who is currently busy hacking for a few minutes.  Also, ground and air vehicles, for ground/air/space combat.  (BF spoiled me with vehicles!)

Community Map/Mission Creator: Also mentioned above.  I love this idea.  The ability to create our own maps and missions, and allow BW to choose and integrate the best of them.  BW, there's so much creativity in the community, this could really expand the MP side of things.

Points/Awards: Gear the weighting more towards teamwork.  Much less focus on e-peen.

Cover system: If there is to be a cover system in ME:Next, no auto-cover.  Player must manually enter cover.  The auto-cover thing in ME3MP got me killed too often.

Loading Cinematics: While the map is loading, some in shuttle/vehicle scene with banter between team/pilot/commander.

I love the me3 MP but would be great to see it expanded to the larger areas and progressive nature like DA:I

I despise the DA:I unlock and loot system, feels like a bad korean mmo. I want to be able to work towards something and actually be rewarded.

I do like the idea of having some brief party convo rolls to determine routes or whatever but they would need to minimise non-playing time to avoid the pressure skipping of SWTOR flashpoints.

But if we just get horde mode in pretty graphics (and better netcode) i'll still play it obsessively.

Considering the size of levels I've played in on my 360 with various multiplayer games. This is not a valid excuse.

That would be great with friends only, especially if you could play it on the coutch together. But have you played Star Wars The Old Republic? They have story and conversations in their dungeons and it's an absolute pain in the ass. I haven't played SWTOR as I do not care for MMOs. But yes, this is a good point. Even with friends, since multiplayer games are based on repetition, this would get boring fast if it was not skippable. They could go around with a narrative progression supported by voice overs (or characters switching to voice overs when you're too far like in Borderlands).

Jokes aside though, a structure kind of like the single player missions would be great as an alternative to the wave type maps we've got already, but only aslong they keep any conversations to a bare minimum. They just don't work for repeatable multiplayer content.

Agreed.

One idea that I thought would be a cool way to incorporate a "co-op story", or at least a MP mode that isn't strictly horde mode without having to design a whole new slew of characters, and plot lines would be to have a "Historical Records" feature.

Simply put, players would be able to play through one of the battles from the SP campaign with their friends. Events ranging from Shepard climbing the Citadel tower, to the Suicide Mission, to assaulting the Cerberus HQ would be playable with four players, each one taking the role of Shepard or his/her crew.

Granted, there really wouldn't be a fully interactive co-op narrative, but at least you could play a multiplayer match that didn't solely consist of horde mode on the same enclosed maps.

Wasn't it practically confirmed/hinted before we even got any solid evidence on the game?

I remember that they said the MP was going to be a Co-Op. (At the very first closed press conference IIRC.)

Also, they did say, back when the ME3 launched, that the MP was for testing the suitability of MP for future games like ME3.

I'll tell you what I don't want. I don't want an MP mode that feels disconnected from the Universe.  Just some playground to fart around in for "funsies".

Have what you do in MP unlock some cool stuff in SP.  Not anything essential.  Maybe decorative items for your ship. A cool new weapon or piece of armor (that's just as good as what you would find in SP). Tie it together.
