Another reason why Dragon Age Inquisition is an INFERIOR product to its predecessor. Now watch as the mods ban me for being abusive.

PS: i finished with just about every schematic, and multiple stacks of each material, and still had tons of gold.. I do not dupe, or exploit in any way, shape or form.. If you actually play the game, you will continuously get gold just from vendoring low lvl gear, and rewards... I loot everything!

I found this to be true on my first playthrough until around level 18, when I really started to focus on crafting and got intentional about using Tier 3 schematics. That damned Mabari in the Hissing Wastes Canyons cleaned me out and, as you've seen elsewhere, I was forced to butcher hundreds of innocent snouffleurs to grind out more gold.

An elfroot costs 20 gold sovereigns. I'm just sayin ...

I like the old money system better as well.

On the plus side agricultural workers in Thedas are going to reap some serious rewards until total market saturation hits.

It's OK -- just craft 10 or 12 full suits of heavy armor, sell them for the going rate, and you can buy that single Elfroot plant with a couple of gold to spare (set them aside to go towards that 15K schematic you'll need later).

Oh idk if i got every schematic or not.. But i got all available onpes for purchase, and several others looted.. I dont look up wiki's, or videos, etc, so idk if im missing out.. Makes each find, an actual treasure.. On the downside, i doubt ill ever trudge through this pos ever again! My point was theres plenty of gold, without having to resort to farming, and plenty of everything else to not have to dupe.. I always had mroe armor/weapops tan anyone could equip, so i changed them around alot.. The people wanting the dupe bug, and gold explopit are the ones who will likely complain the game was too easy, and had no reward, etc in most cases.. In this game however, thats all happening without cheating..

But i earned each and every gold cin, each and every schematic, each and every material, each and every level, skill point, armor, weapon, accessory, etc.. Each find felt rewarding in that respect.. They were just incomparable to what ik had crafted at like lvl 5..  I had the Kirkwall mace Schematic in Haven, and crafted it right away.. I was lvl 15 or 16 before i found anything even remotely close to its dmg/dps...

So... did you buy all the armor schematics from the Hissing Wastes merchant? If you keep returning for the superiors (which don't drop anywhere else, AFAIK), the total comes to almost 100K.

I don't think we're really supposed to believe anything. It's a gameplay mechanic.

That's never an acceptable justification.

Something I noticed, when you play Wicked Grace with Varric and the rest of the crew it's mentioned that they're betting in coppers and silvers so lore wise at least the old currency system is still there.

Probably because the writers weren't told that coppers and silvers were removed from the game for streamlining purposes. God forbid you'd have to do math when going shopping.

Yeah, spending 2 hours to learn game mechanics is just way too long for a game that is supposed to last between 60 and 100 hours (and even more if one decides to do a complete playthrough).

I was wondering when people would run out of logical things to whine about. It seems we have hit that that point.

Complaining about games being dumbed down is legitimate and conpletely justifiable. Especially when the CEO of EA himself said they are doing just that. This is just one aspect where the dumbing down can be seen in DAI.

It's funny how people moan about it being like an MMO, and are now moaning that it doesn't have the same currency system you get in MMOs. WoW has the same gold, silver, copper thing, as do most MMOs. They've stepped away from that MMO style system of a three tier currency. As others have said, the Inquisition wouldn't be dealing in small change. You think the US government buys a new tank for $600,000 and 35 cents? You also can't say it's "too complicated" for people since we use a similar system every day. Even a stupid person can understand the concept of cents into dollars, pennies into pounds, whatever your country uses. We all know seconds into minutes into hours into days into weeks into months into years, etc etc. But of course, this currency change from 3 tiers to 1 must be because people are stupid.

Also moving away from the battle system being "auto-attack while using spells as they come off cooldown" is a step away from MMO battle systems. The battle system in DAO is just like you get in WoW. Click on target, let your character auto-attack, use spells when available. So far we have two requests for a return to MMO systems while people also moan it's like an MMO.

People say the Tactics system being removed is a simplification, yet this actually means you have to manually control your party rather than letting the AI take over - it's more complicated, and back to how it was in games like Baldur's Gate and Torment. That said, need I remind you that the original Tactics system was lifted from Final Fantasy XII, a console RPG? The one thing that separates DAO from a WoW battle system is having to control up to 4 people at once, if they're all automated fully, you don't even have that difference. They're now like dumb human players helping you out. A third request to make it like an MMO.

You know I never actually thought about [the dumbed-down currency system] before, but you're completely right. I guess having multiple tiers of currency was too complex for the "target audience", along with distributing attribute points and setting up tactics.

This made me laugh out loud for some reason.

Gosh, we're too dumb for everything! Please just scrap the combat, conversation and currency systems in the next game and allow us to mash the gamepad or keyboard with our sweaty palms to win!

Not if you do all the side quests and clear every zone. I don't really think schematics were that much expensive, more like there was not enough of them to buy and they had to be obtained by boring grind.

I did every quest and every zone. Bought 3 schematics from Hissing waste and lost more than half my cash.

I forgot to add "YMMV". It depends on how much money you spend elsewhere (buying weapons, decorations, etc.), how lucky are you with dropped items you then can sell, how much crating resources you sell and so on. It also depends on what perks you choose. But honestly I didn't feel money were as tight as in DAO (pre-GoA DLC) or as in DA2.

Just out of curiosity, is that even something that would matter to you? Provided that you're not playing the same character in each game, it wouldn't break your character concept, which I recall you being very insistent about.

I don't expect coherence across games, no. So this specific issue doesn't bother me. In fact, I prefer a single currency to the decimals currency we had in DAO, because decimal currencies are far less authentic in pre-modern settings.

God forbid you'd have to do math when going shopping.

What Math are we talking about? Slapping colour symbols between digits is considered math? Are you sure you are not part of the "target audience" us hardc0rez frown upon?
New Vegas with multiple currencies, banknotes and coins required some very basic math, but the 1 gold = 100 silver = 10000 copper is not particularly demanding. Makes you wonder, how the relative value of metals remains constant over time and how come everyone always has change (unlike in, say, Fallout games).

This perfectly sums up Inquisition: Be dumb so that you can enjoy the game.

This is the future of AAA gaming I am afraid.
