An article (that really is, as mentioned in the title, investigative journalism) detailing the grey market game keys we heard about recently with Ubisoft revoking a bunch of AC, and FC copies.

Interesting stuff. I personally find this stuff shady as all get-out.

Edit: Dang, that title. How do I change that?

If you go to edit title then use the full editor mode it should allow you to alter the title of the thread.

Recently, the imbeciles at Polygon took a dev's tweet about his speedrun and presented it as the total play time one can expect from it.

Then, their fellow imbeciles at gamespot took this and ran with it.

Dev was less than pleased at this.

RE: the topic of grey market keys, I don't see the problem, It's no different than if I was to physically go over to Russia and buy some games in a store there and bring it over to my place in the U.S and redeem the steam codes.

I think Total Biscuit had a video about this a week ago or so, can someone give me a rundown of the article to see if there's anything new?

From what I know, there are a couple of third party sites who were in possession of stolen/dodgy keys. EA and Origin were somehow involved too. Customers who unwittingly bought the dodgy keys will not be refunded by Ubisoft directly and have to deal with the place they bought it from.

Now, I could be totally off-base here and blowing smoke up your ass*, but maybe don't buy Steam Keys from places that aren't Steam?

*Proverbial, not you in particular. Thought I should clarify. ;)

I'm fairly happy to alternate between Humble Bundle, GreenManGaming and Steam for most of my Steam purchases. But there are more sites, some of which offer cheaper prices (often through reselling Russian keys) that people choose to use.

It's the risk some run in order to save some bucks. :P

Also lol Polygon. Still the site where they ranked Tropico low because their self insert leader was cruel and hated by the people. I'm not exaggerating either. The reviewer talks about building a utopia in his image where society adopts his progressive values and he ends up getting hurt feels because his populace loathe him and the authoritarian hell that he's made.

Isn't Polygon one of those sites (Quarter to Three being the other one I've noticed) that gives widely-acclaimed games low review scores for rather stupid and/or superficial reasons? I've never actually visited it myself and so don't really know much more about it, but by all accounts it looks like a pretty lousy place.

I'll admit, I'm a little surprised.

I hope I don't come off the wrong way, but it's literally a click away. You could find out. Surely first-hand knowledge is better?

Edit: Here's another impressive article of theirs I found a year or so back. Be warned, it's pretty large in size.

I really have no idea what their reviews are like, because I don't care about journalism reviews. But these two articles are some pretty good work that you never see in "gaming journalism."

Yes and they have less integrity than a site like "christcenteredgamer". It's one of those clickbait and idealogue/SJW driven sites like kotaku and RPS(and hopefully they all go the route of joystiq).

Seeing Polygon and investigative journalism together in a sentence is funny. Brian Williams is still more competent than Polygon.

Polygon is clickbaiting trash.

Quarter to Three is contrarian and likes to make the occasional run at sacred cows such as the overhyped exclusive.

I'm still sad that I can't play Bayonetta 2 myself due to its Wii U exclusivity.

Also, that christcentredgamer site looks hilarious.

GG Polygon and Gamespot. GG. Especially Gamespot. Can they NOT come off as completely clueless. I just recently discovered Persona games take place in parallel universes at the same exact time because of them.

Hell yeah, Gematsu!

Also Play4RealGaming probably has more journalistic integrity than Polygon and Gamespot.
