Good romance for an asexual?

I haven't gotten to play the game yet (ugh!) due to life reasons, but I do mostly know what I want to do in my first playthrough (classes and such wise). I'm just not sure what romance I'm going to go for, as I know next to nothing about the romance options other than their orientations.

I'll probably play as either a Qunari or an Elf.

I'm asexual, and I tend to avoid da sexy scenes in games. I also usually roleplay asexual characters, so I'd appreciate a heads up from you guys letting me know what romances I could roleplay as asexual. I'm pretty sure Iron Bull is off-limits. :P

I don't care about the gender of the romance option, as long as I don't have to watch my Inquisitor naked porking them.

Thanks in advance to anyone who gives suggestions!

Josephine is available to both genders and she does not have a sex scene.

Josie has no sex scenes at all and is very sweet.
It's also one of the best if you prefer a

Spoiler
kind of story.

Solas has no sex scenes either, but some of the cut-scenes are more sexual than Josie, imho.
You need to be a female elf to romance Solas.

Spoiler

Hopefully I didn't spoil too much for you with this comment!

Hey there fellow ace person!

Josephine and Solas have no sex scenes; Solas's romance is intentionally written so that you can decide whether or not they had sex off-screen (although some companions assume that they did, and he jokes about "getting the Inquisitor into bed"), while Josie doesn't have any mention of sex, as far as I know.

Ah, 'd twice!

although i haven't played through all the romances yet myself, i think solas and josephine are your best bets, as already mentioned.

you can romance josephine as any race or gender and from what i've seen, her romance is very sweet and i've seen people refer to it as "disney-like".

solas is only interested in female elves and though there are no sex scenes with him either, the romance scenes you do get are a bit more passionate, although those scenes are scarce.

For straight/bi male inquisitors and lesbian/bi female inquisitors: Josephine.

For straight/bi female elves: Solas.

For gay/bi male inquisitors: Dorian (choose the option to "slow things down", and you'll get a kiss instead of a sex scene).

I can only speak for the Solas romance so far:

Solas does not have a sex scene but it does have some passionate kissing in three cutscenes but that is it. He also has one line that display sexual interest but that only appears if you select a specific dialogue option in one conversation and so is completely avoidable.

I can vouch that it can be played as an asexual romance if the player wants. If you want a more happy outcome, I recommend Josephine's romance instead, not because the Solas romance is badly done but because it is a bit... like getting punched in the heart figuratively.

Don't worry, you didn't spoil anything!

So heartbreaking or happy romance? If you played through both romances, which one did you find personally better? I don't mind tragic romances, usually, but I wouldn't mind a more positive one for a change.

This question to BSN is like asking the meaning of life.

Cullen doesn't have an explicit sex scene, but it's pretty heavily implied (at least some heavy making out). No nudity for the Quizzy, though, but there is a scene of an undressed Cullen waking up in bed (nothing graphical) while the inquisitor is finishing getting dressed.

Thanks for your reply, fellow ace! :)

It seems like most people either say Solas or Josephine, so I suppose it would be a good idea for me to play as a female elf so that I can potentially romance either of them.

(to Flowingchesthair) I can only speak for the Solas romance but while it is heartbreaker, it is a well-written heartbreaker in my opinion with a believable reason for why the heartbreak occurs. It gives you a bit more insight into Solas' character in terms of inner conflict.

Playing a female elf sounds like a good idea: that way you can decide after getting to know them both as it is a while before you need to lock-in the romance as far as I know in regards to these two.

Oh, sorry. I didn't mean to make this thread too complicated.   I'm sure some people would have an opinion of which romance they liked better though.

Blackwall also has an optional sex scene.  His romance can be completely chaste if you want it to be, besides a few kiss scenes.  Be warned,

So wait, from what I hear, there can be a few ace-like romances if you play them in a certain way. But most people think either Josephine or Solas are the most asexual romances? Is that correct?

If I'd have to pick one (based on what I've heard and seen) I'd suggest you go for Josie! :)

Patrick Weekes (Solas's writer) said on twitter that he wanted it to be left vague as to whether or not the Inquisitor and Solas had sex - so it's up to your personal interpretation.  If you want his romance to be asexual, it can be.

I haven't tried or watched Josephine's romance myself, but I'm guessing it was also left vague for the player to decide for him/herself.

I guess this is something I'll have to see for myself. I like most of the characters equally based on what I know of them, so I'll play the game with an open mind. Can anyone tell me whether the nug romance is chaste, or am I out of luck?

Serious question, though: Someone mentioned Sera here, and Lebanese Dude said that it was a lie. Is Sera's romance off-limits? I've liked her character since she was announced.

None of the romances show the couple having bunny rabbit sex on a lamp hanging from the ceiling at 1.5x speed with yakety sax in the background.
