None of the romances show the couple having bunny rabbit sex on a lamp hanging from the ceiling at 1.5x speed with yakety sax in the background.
Really? Man, that's the only kind of sex scenes I'm fond of. Shucks.

I guess this is something I'll have to see for myself. I like most of the characters equally based on what I know of them, so I'll play the game with an open mind. Can anyone tell me whether the nug romance is chaste, or am I out of luck?
Serious question, though: Someone mentioned Sera here, and Lebanese Dude said that it was a lie. Is Sera's romance off-limits? I've liked her character since she was announced.
As far as I know (I haven't tried her romance myself), her sex scene is not optional for her romance. So, she wouldn't be a good choice unless you want to just skip over her scene (the explicit part is pretty short).
Josephine would be your best bet. While I'm not an asexual, I don't do sex before marriage and hence Josephine's romance worked perfectly.
Her romance is warm and mostly happy. At the start you practically court her, then later on it's all cuddling, hugs and smooches
There's also only a single line that can imply you wanting to have sex with Josephine and then it's up to you to decide whether they're relationship was that intimate or not.
Also I believe her writer mentioned that Josephine can be interpreted as a demisexual or asexual.
Can't speak for Solas because I never actually got through the tutorial with anyone other than my canon save(s)
But I should add that while it may be a sad romance, it's beautifully written from what I've watched on youtube.

You can deliberately fail her gift quest by not talking to Viv, I'm under the impression that succeeding is what triggers the sex scene.
(to ThreeF) Do you know if the romance or Sera implies or outright state that the relationship has a sexual aspect to it?

Is the gift quest is optional or required to continue her romance to the point where you can commit to her? I'm curious now...

Ah, thanks for the answer. I'm usually more concerned about being able to roleplay as the relationship being asexual. It's not really the sex scenes that bother me (I've seen naked people before and don't care
), but if the characters often mention having done the deed (like I imagine Bull would and maybe Sera) that's what I want to avoid most.

from what I gather you can "fail" it, ie talk to everyone but Viv without it affecting anything but the sex scene.

Not sure, maybe? You might have better luck asking in Sera thread.

Josephine sounds awesome. I wasn't aware that she could be percieved as demisexual or asexual, which is pretty neat. Thanks for the information.

Interesting, thanks for answering
. I asked because I know that Blackwall's gift quest is required to commit to his romance.
I haven't gotten to play the game yet (ugh!) due to life reasons, but I do mostly know what I want to do in my first playthrough (classes and such wise). I'm just not sure what romance I'm going to go for, as I know next to nothing about the romance options other than their orientations.
I'll probably play as either a Qunari or an Elf.
I'm asexual, and I tend to avoid da sexy scenes in games. I also usually roleplay asexual characters, so I'd appreciate a heads up from you guys letting me know what romances I could roleplay as asexual. I'm pretty sure Iron Bull is off-limits.
I don't care about the gender of the romance option, as long as I don't have to watch my Inquisitor naked porking them.
Thanks in advance to anyone who gives suggestions!

I don't get it. ![]()

At one point, Sera races you to the bed for sexy times. Technically both Sera and IB have pre-commitment sex. Cullen mounts you, so it's pretty clearly not an asexual romance. Cass is also not an asexual option; neither is Dorian.
Josie and Solas are the best bets. Also, from what I understand, you don't have to "go someplace alone" with Blackwall, so you can avoid the sex scene.
The term Asexual is supposed to reference the biological process of reproduction without a partner organism. The image reply is likely meant to refute the OP use and thread's use of the term as Non-Sexual.I don't get it.
Yay, another one
To keep it asexual, just kisses, that would be Josephine but, I like Iron Bull. Yes there are 3 implied sex scenes with him but one is quite funny and, another is a real laugh if you choose the proposal option. Only one you really can't head cannon out of actually having sex. Overall it's playful swats on the rear and playful kissing, not heavy so, I like that one. Besides, you can play it as if your quizzy is experimenting, seeing if he can enjoy it with a very different approach so, for me it is fun and, works in my head.
Cassandra and Cullen are probably the worst for us, to mushy, have sex "classic love affair" sort of thing.
Dorian is so so, doable but still too much implied.
@zambingo: It's also the term for people who don't experience sexual attraction or don't have an interest in sex, so you can kindly stop telling us what we can or cannot call ourselves because that's pretty damn rude.

To bring Asexual to a human persepective should either be referencing some method of cloning or losing the reproduction aspect and have it reference masturbation. Applying it to courtly romance and or lack of sexual contact losses even greater relation to it's originating biological definition.
Yes correct, i'm very baffled at how people are using asexual in this thread. Either i'm very mistaken or they are.
You do know that it's also used as a word for a sexual identity these days?
I was under the belief that when referring to a person, that asexual meant that one does not seek and or want a relationship. No attraction to others. I could be horribly wrong, but Zambingo shouldn't take heat for his/her response either.

Ah, I see. Thanks for your clarification. But asexuallity is often used as a term for people who do not experience sexual attraction, such as myself. A lot of the time, when people say "I'm asexual" they mean that they don't experience sexual attraction, not "I have no reproductive organs."
Your offense is self inflicted. I didn't tell you to do anything. I offered a valid explanation for the other poster's pondering.@zambingo: It's also the term for people who don't experience sexual attraction or don't have an interest in sex, so you can kindly stop telling us what we can or cannot call ourselves because that's pretty damn rude.

Nah, you're thinking of an asexual aromantic, which would mean someone who doesn't experience romantic or sexual attraction. I consider myself an asexual panromantic, meaning I don't experience sexual attraction to anyone, but I can experience romantic attraction to any gender.

It isn't lack of wanting a close, loving relationship it is, in simplest terms, no sexual attraction to any gender or species. Of course I want a loving relationship, a loving lifelong friend and companion but, that doesn't mean I want to have sex with him or her. I think Bull says it well "We love our friends as much as anyone but, we don't have sex with them."

Well said.
Edit: Also, in reply to your other comment: I think that Iron Bull could be an interesting romance, but it's very sexual in nature, isn't it? But you're asexual too, and you didn't mind it?
