You're welcome. ^_^

She doesn't seem bothered by the negative reaction. This was a story she wanted to write, and it sounds like she and the others on Team Josie are proud of their work.

Plus Gaider even said this was a route they are looking into so asexual players can enjoy the romance arcs as well.

Not just asexuals, but anyone who doesn't need T&A to enjoy a good love story.

I like Iron Bull's character (what I know of him and what a couple of my friends said about him) but someone here mentioned he has some sort of kink? No one clarified that for me.

Yeah, his romance is kink - mild BDSM (Just the bondage part but Bull makes it clear you could have the scary or painful part if you wanted it. Bull is the Dom in the relationship, safeword and all.

S&M he likes it rough, it is well written and made to give the player a little wiggle room as to what the player is getting him/herself into before doing anything beneath the sheets so to speak.

Yep. It can apply to players other than asexuals, whether it be part of their sexuality or lifestyle that makes it so they don't want to have to have sex.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to suggest it was, just explaining why it is most definitely not a romance for a non-sexual relationship haha. He's got his cute and fluffy too, but it's not what you're looking for.

I'd say for a first playthrough do Solas. It will give you the most impact out of parts of the story. (Avoid the Solas thread, and any other places where you might get spoiler'd.) Then when you're recovering, want to play again, and need some happy snuggles to take away the heartache, go Josephine.

That sounds like a good plan.

I'll finally be able to play for the next couple of weeks, so if anyone wants, I can update this topic when I end up choosing a romance..

I'd like to hear what you think of all of the romances. Granted you will probably dump Cass, Cullen and Dorian after the first sex scene but, still I'd like to hear what your take on all of them is. It's a game, it doesn't have to reflect real life unless we want it to.

Yeah, completely true. Eventually, I'll probably try out all of the romances, even the ones I'm more cautious of. Too bad I'm a few months behind most of you. :P Everyone here has already developed theories and such about the character's and their romances, and I'm just sitting here waiting until I'm finally able to play.

I actually started later than everyone as well, just started playing during my Christmas break. The only disadvantage it gives you is the over abundance of spoilers that can ruin some of the really awesome oh-****! moments in the game. >.>

I'm not really adding anything that hasn't already been said, but I think that Josephine may be a really good choice for you. I was getting a little worried that I would have to sit through sex scenes if I wanted to do a romance, especially with nudity in DAI, but I was pleasantly surprised by Josie's romance. Personally, I don't necessarily mind sex within stories, but if it's actually shown, or shows nudity, I can definitely start to feel uncomfortable.

Luckily, I've only gone to the No Spoiler area, until now. I haven't gotten majorly spoiled at all so far. The biggest problem for me, is that I'll probably want to discuss things that have been discussed hundreds of times before, so no one will care. :(

I appreciate your opinion anyway, regardless of whether someone already said something similar.

I'll totally romance Josephine; if not on my first playthrough, than my second. Everyone says that her romance is really sweet, and I believe them.

I can assure you that is definitely not the case in the Solas thread. Every newcomer with a question or theory is welcome, even if it has already been discussed. Because in the end there are many ways to view certain things and there is a lot to discuss.

That said, you will probably want to avoid that particular thread until you've completely finished the game. It's far enough out from launch that spoiler tags are rare these days.

True. Maybe I'll contribute to the fanart for some characters, which could also spark some discussions.

Good to know. I'll probably pop in there once I finish the game, which will be like in five days if I can finish it that fast. :) I'll avoid it until then.

I'm a sexually aversive asexual, but I don't think any of the scenes really get to the point where I'd feel extremely uncomfortable (except maybe the partial nudity scenes).

Solas is a great romance, and the most you do is kiss him. Same with Josie, but I can't vouch as to whether or not her romance is any good.

A lot of the romances are good, though most of them have sex scenes. Just do what I do whenever a scene gets to explicit for my liking: skip it! Press the skip button like your life depends on it! XD

Have an asexy day.

Yet another ace here. I wish I'd been spoiled about the romances just a little before I started playing, because my first choice was the Iron Bull - not a good one for someone who's slightly sex-repulsed to go into unprepared  I'll add yet another vote for Josie as "most asexual-friendly", but romancing Solas as a female elf involves many interesting... revelations... that make it quite special, especially if you're into elven lore, history and the like.

And I echo the relief of many others here at seeing sex become an option rather than a requirement in (some) romances. It's so refreshing to see popular media include, in its range of attitudes towards sex, a "No thanks" option which doesn't make those who take it (for whatever reason - religion, culture, sexuality) feel looked down upon for doing so.

If you play a female you can always flirt with Dorian. He enjoys it, though it peters off after he receives that one letter.

Like others, I'd recommend Josephine. It's very sweet, and has no sex scene, nor does it ever imply that they are having sex.

Iron Bull and Sera both have multiple sex scenes that are required to progress the relationship, so they are obviously out of the question. Bull's is also implied BDSM (although it is portrayed in a normal and healthy manner, not like that Fifty Shades of Grey garbage - thank you Bioware).

Cullen and Cassandra both only have one sex scene, but it is required. If you say no, the relationship ends.

Blackwall has a sex scene, but you can avoid it without ending the romance. However, I believe this prevents you from "committing" to the relationship.

Dorian has an optional sex scene. When he propositions you, you can ask him to slow down and he instead kisses you. It is, however, implied that they are having sex later in the game, regardless of what option you chose.

Solas has no sex scene, but he is still a pretty sexually forward character in his romantic affections. He also jokes about and implies that he is having sex with the Inquisitor.

I think Josephine is definitely the most "PG" of all the options.

The problem being that a lot of character development and interaction is hidden behind romance? Yes.

As most people have said, go with Josephine. Otherwise I suggest flirting with Harding...of course, I always suggesting flirting with Harding. Scout Harding makes my scout harding. I don't care if that joke is old now it is mine and I LOVE IT.

It's good to know another asexual doesn't get made uncomfortable by the scenes. I usually get uncomfortable when characters start implying that my protagonist did the thing with someone. Like with Alistair's romance in Origin; I never went through with the sex scene, and yet the next time I talked to Leliana she acted like my warden did sleep with him. Not sure if that's a bug, or whether other people get that too.

I don't usually like skipping any scenes, but I've skipped some in the past. I'll see what happens if I decide on romancing anyone other than Solas/Josephine.

And you have an asexy day too. :)

That must have been... an unpleasant surprise. People have mentioned Bull's into BDSM.

It seems like Josie is the most asexual friendly, but people have vouched that Solas's romance feels more story-orientated and is well made.

Exactly! That's something I liked in Origins. You got the option to decline sex with some of the characters (Leliana and Alistair I believe, not sure about the others), and I'm glad that you can also do the same for some romances in Inquisition.

Good luck surviving Solas. I say it's worth it but some people do not. Let us know how it works out!

I just can't romance Josie though FYI. She seems so sweet and innocent. And I identify with the PC too much. I always play rough and tumble 'Zevran and Isabella' types that use sex in a practical not nessicarilly romantic way and that just isn't something I can justify with Josie.

If you end up romancing her let us know how it goes too. Just have fun! DAI is a relitively safe place. Go wild! Don't be afraid to get attached to these characters. Have a fun asexual time, man.

Just to clarify, not choosing to have sex with Blackwall does not prevent you from committing to the relationship. You commit to the relationship (in a scene that does contain kissing) a good ways before the optional sex scene, and other than not seeing that sex scene, the relationship arc continues as intended.

Thanks for the good luck wishes. I hope that his romance isn't something that you need luck to survive, though. I'll post in this thread after a while of playing (I'll finally be able to begin a couple hours from now). I'm not sure when you can begin flirting with the characters, but I'll let you guys know if/when I have the option.

In that case, did you romance Iron Bull? He seems like the type that uses sex casually, if the replies in this thread indicate anything about him.

I know I'll have fun. I'm pretty damn stoked that at last I'll be playing so soon. Thanks! ^_^

For gay/bi male inquisitors: Dorian (choose the option to "slow things down", and you'll get a kiss instead of a sex scene).

This is an interesting suggestion. I think it depends on how much the OP is willing to head canon with this particular option.

More remarks in spoiler tag...
