I love the whole ME serie and ME 3 wasn't that bad. A little rushed, too much of forced Liara/EDI and the ending sucked but at least mehem fixed that one. Now, if they can can truly make ME4 to be something amazing then, heck yeah, thank you.

Sure, why not? :P I am all for a company taking another crack at something as long as they take stock of past missteps and work to correct them. That said, I am not in the half of people you describe and had few serious problems with the ME trilogy when all is said and done. At least not the same problems that made those games infamous--particularly ME3.

---

I see this cancellation as bad news. There are few urban fantasy games out there. The last we got was what? The Secret World a few years back? While I was not looking forward to Shadow Realms, it at least looked worth trying out with a few friends. I like to see companies expand beyond their comfort zones. Broaden their horizons. Innovate and iterate. Yada yada. :P

Too many studios play it safe. I can understand if funds were simply unavailable to keep plugging away at development without serious losses; or if too many elements in Shadow Realms failed to come together. It is still mildly disappointing considering how few AAA developers risk new IPs these days.

But then I would have to wait 6 months for them to patch the game so it's playable.

Given the rollout of DA:I on Frostbite, how is this not the same thing?

QA is laughable for inquisition.

QA is laughable for most things. Although, I believe Bethesda games are still worse since they rely on player made mods to fix the issues for PC players.

You can beat the game start to end at launch, where with a lot of Elder Scroll and Fallout games there are game breaking issues.  I had to wait for a major patch for Fallout 3 since it kept crashing when I tried to enter the one building needed to advance the plot.

There are people on the DA:I forums who still can't get past the load screen of DA:I, four months after release. And I played through FO3 from start to finish without a game crash.

Doesn't mean both games aren't riddled with bugs and issues.

I kinda dread the reception BW will get for ME4, some people still can't get over the ME3 ending even now & they'll likely be even more unforgiving with ME4 then they were with Inquisition

It is interesting how people can have such a drastically different experience with the same product.

The ending of ME3 BEGS that a sequel never be made. Unless the new game is set in some alternate reality where the Reapers never existed or something, there will be either planet-sized plot holes or so much narrative hand-waving that it will have to act like the endings of ME3 never existed.

Given that Mac Walters, the writing engineer of the ME3 endings, seems to be at the helm for the project with Casey Hudson gone, I hope people can understand that there is a LOT of trepidation about the game.

However the other side of the coin there are people who liked the ending (even people liking the Pre-EC ending so a lot of this is subjective), it's just that people who don't like things tend to be louder.  Plus since this is the Internet are they actually hating the ending or are they just trolling around poking for a reaction.

Again same thing can be said for the other side...... essentially take everything on the Internet with a grain of salt as what was typed may not be the real feelings or the real intent of the poster.

It's why QA doesn't catch things in the first place. One unexpected action, click or choice may cause a glitch no one ever even thought to check and which the player might not even realize they did. A few minutes/hours/sessions later, the game is unplayable and derided for low quality.

I, personally, don't mind bugs all that much. Yes, if I can't fire up a game at all, that is infuriating. And if I can't get past a certain section even after I reload my game, reboot my computer or even restart an entire play through, that is similarly terrible. But aside from those, I'm indifferent to bugs.

What really grinds my gears is the design choices that are done on purpose that are terribly done or which are made very shallow. I'd rather a game reach for the stars in terms of scope and play clean up later rather than have watered down mechanics and gameplay that is more polished. Unfortunately, DA:I suffers from both. And that means ME4 may as well.

Good. That game was gonna suck anyway's. They should focus all their time on making ME4 great and return the series to the heights of ME2 (probably not possible, but hey a guy can dream).

Yeah... I just don't buy the "vocal minority" argument. You don't get tens of thousands of fans united in total vitriol and rage without there being a common consensus of suck.

Besides, only incredibly stupid and bad companies ignore their most vocal complainers. There are entire business mamagement books written on the topic - a customer who is loud enough to complain to you is going to be just as loud complaining to dozens of other potential customers, either actively or passively. You either want to keep them happy and quiet (or, even better, screaming your praises) or you work to get them out of your pipeline completely and actively not sell to them so they don't buy your product.

A (increasingly bigger) part of me suspects that is what Bioware is trying to do - flush out the fans who want the type of game they don't want to make anymore.

I wouldn't call that 100% a bad thing with the amount of people who seemingly get outraged that BW don't essentially make the same game over & over again or act like its still 1998
