If you pay attention to the media, yes. But there are still many bands and musics making music for the love of the art forum and other positive reasons. You just have to dig deeper to find them these days.

I know, sort of exaggerated statement, sorry bout that.

There's plenty of good contemporary bands and many of the older ones still produce good stuff. Modest Mouse for example is releasing a new LP in May, can't wait for that :D

The sad fact is that if you look at it from the view point of the media and big time record labels it isn't an exaggerated statement. It's a business plan! lol

I fear the day when musicians like  ZZ Top, Motorhead, B.B. King and Buddy Guy are gone. If you think about it. Music will quickly loose a lot of greats in the next few years and if there isn't enough wroth while musicians and bands to fill the gaps, we might be stuck listening to nothing but manufactured, by the numbers music.

There are still plenty of great bands/musicians out there! Just because most of society overlooks them in favor of the more manufactured stuff only makes me appreciate them all the more.

True and I said the same in a previous post. I still think things can take a turn for the worst when musicians like B.B. King die off. When it comes to musicians such as him, you really shouldn't focus on his music alone. The man is a part of musical history and American history. Very few musicians after him can say the same. Without musicians willing to honor his legacy through their music, B.B. Kings legacy could be lost in time and rarely spoken of in the years to come. In a lot of ways we stand to loose a lot more than a great musician or band when you look at previous generations. So it's important for the current generation of musicians and bands to honor the trail blazers of the past.

I don't know. Music isn't something simple to me. It's never been as straight forward as having the radio on in the background to provide some noise to break the silence. Music is one of the rare things I have a deep connection with. To the point where I can hear a song, even if it's been years since I last listened to it, and I'm instantly taken back to a moment in my life from what seems like many years ago. So when I see how mainstream music has changed for the worse and the direction the music industry has moved, I get worried.

Proof that 50 Shades of Grey should be banned. It's driving women mad.

You thought Twilight was bad for teenage girls? Well its fan fiction for adult women is going to drive them even crazier.

We need to unite, ban this filth and cleanse the book from every book shelf and online site. This is one book that won't make the next century if we work together to erase it from the face of the Earth!

(and 50 Shades of Grey is not even that erotic or crude so I despair to think what would happen to women if they saw something really hardcore...

....I mean Jesus Christ, the book reads like a terrible fan fiction and it should have remained just that instead of gaining the popularity it did.

Edit:

I think some women just haven't had a "you know what" for a long time, they need some Eternal Phoenix loving and his big 10 ft long 5 ft wide willy! That'll calm them down and then they'll see 50 Shades for the piece of crap it is!)

Edit 2:

They want Mr.Grey but this is what they'll see when looking up:

Women held after man allegedly attacked at 50 Shades screening

_81042626_81042439.jpgPolice are investigating an allegation of assault at the Grosvenor Cinema during a showing of Fifty Shades of Grey

Three women were arrested at a Glasgow cinema at the weekend following an alleged attack on a man at a showing of the film Fifty Shades of Grey.

Officers were called to the Grosvenor Cinema in Ashton Lane at about 20:00 on Saturday.

Police said the three women, aged 51, 38, and 31, were arrested for alleged disorder offences and alleged assault.

They will be the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal. No one was seriously injured in the incident.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "At around 8pm on Saturday 14 February, police responded to reports of a disturbance at the Grosvenor Cinema on Ashton Lane."

'Isolated incident'

She added: "Three women, aged 51, 38, and 31, have been arrested for alleged disorder offences and alleged assault. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal."

A spokeswoman for G1 Group, which owns the cinema said: "I can confirm that an incident occurred on Saturday 14th February following an early evening showing of 50 Shades Of Grey.

"This was an isolated incident that was dealt with rapidly by cinema staff and stewards, as a result of which, Police Scotland attended and made an arrest.

"Despite press reports, nobody was glassed and a wine bottle was not used as a weapon - those involved did not require hospital attention."

Ewwwww. its hard to beleve she has a Genious level IQ.

Since I somehow managed to miss this thread, I find myself obligated to point out that scoring a "genius level" IQ on the IQ test does not necessarily make you a "genius".
