Hey folks--

Just wanted to bring attention to the new WIP wiki for ME3Explorer:

http://me3explorer.w...E3Explorer_Wiki

The toolset menu structure has been revamped, deprecated tools removed, and the wiki laid out to "match" the new menu structure. The goal to make it easier for novices to use. That and less clutter is always better :)

Editing the wiki is open to everyone, but be sure to read the Editor's Guide before creating/amending articles so you know what the deal is. You may also be interested in the new ME3Exp forum section explicitly for the wiki:

http://me3explorer.f...g/wiki-f36.html

Fog.Gene and I are admining and I'm in the process of setting up all the pages for User Tools.

One thing folks in the Dev Group will be particularly interested in is the Mod Spotlight page:

http://me3explorer.w...i/Mod_Spotlight

There are already slots created for JAM, CEM, MEHEM, ThaneMOD, and a couple texture mods. I'd appreciate it if the authors could fill in their own spotlights, since it lightens my workload, lol. ThaneMOD's section is already done as an example. If you don't want to edit the wiki directly, you can also post the description and link to images in the proper forum thread and I'll use them to make the edits on your behalf.

Oh, almost forgot. We should feature at least one MP mod. The catch is that it needs to be "on par" with the other mods featured and made with the ME3Exp toolset -- not other modding tools. The mod also can't have bugs/issues and should be exceptionally high-quality, make a significant amount of changes, have a decent user base, etc. I don't play MP, so I don't know of any. Looking at ME3Tweaks, most seem to have some issues and are pretty narrow in scope. Nexus and ModDB don't seem to have any MP mods at all.

Are there any recommendations from folks around here who play MP?

Thanks!

Ouch. I used to play MP quite a bit, but I can't think of one decent mod. Most risk getting you hit with the ban hammer so I never used them. Sorry :(

As I said gift, I'll update MEHEM, as soon as v0.5 is out (definitely this weekend).

Also, I reiterate, great job on the wiki so far! That must be quite the workload. I could never do that. I hate web page design and layout, I can barely keep my own forum posts formatted. So kudos!

Nice work giftfish. I can write up a little diddy, using what you did with ThaneMOD as a good example of how to do so, for CEM.

And yes, it's a tremendous amount of work. I'm yet still looking for a job, which is the only reason I have time. I've now opened my search nationwide, though, so moving might be in my future. After looking locally for over a year and a half, I'm done...and so, so ready to be back in academia or...somewhere that I can contribute.

At any rate, I'm happy to work with Fog getting everything transferred from the old wiki and getting things set up and organized, but he and I are going to need a lot of help on the Developer Tools and Resources articles. I just don't have enough technical knowledge to do that stuff. You'd be a great person for that kind of thing, Fob, so even if you don't want to edit the wiki directly, please still feel free to write articles and post them in the Wiki forum section. That way Fog and I can work off of that, get it onto the wiki and make it "pretty."

I'm trying to put the names of all the articles we need in the main page TOC; if the name is red, it means it hasn't been written yet and is up for grabs. Just write something up and post it in a forum thread. Fog or I can give it a light edit (if necessary) and like I said, take care of the time-consuming formatting stuff.

But seriously, how nice will it be to have directions on how to use tools rather than having to figure out how to use them? Have all the knowledge on the forums organized so it's easy to navigate and reference? So you aren't weeding through posts trying to figure out if information is outdated, procedures have changed, etc? To have a legit toolset reference and developer knowledge base?

It will be great. We just need to work together to make it happen :]

True. I usually try to make tutorials for stuff when I find something new that is widely applicable but often, it's more a one time HEX edit or something like that.

Also, I actually only used about half the tools in ME3Explorer so far I think. :)

If I can come up with more stuff, I'll post though.

Good luck with the job search! Really hope you find something soon. With ThaneMOD 3.0, you should apply at BW (if you don't mind the cold weather in Edminton). If you end up in/close to NYC, let me know, we should meet for a beer or something. :)

That reminds me, I'll get hard dates on it but I think early May my wife will be there for a conference. I"ll email more details when it gets close.

Good luck on the job search giftfish. I actually used my mod in a performance review April, '14. I work helpdesk IT and my argument was it taught me to learn and helped me relate to the frustration users must feel with tech issues. So...depending on what you want to do, you never know how this passion Thane project could pan out.

Thanks, guys :)

Once I get done with the User Tools and Resources, which is the first priority, then I'll be working with Fog to get the old wiki content transferred before the sub runs out that Deager paid for.  This is also something folks can help with. Just copy and paste and give me a heads up. I can make it pretty, move it around to re-organize, etc.

Once that is done is done the final stage starts, which is where we start to organize and transfer the forum content that never made it onto the old wiki. Fog and I will start threads and folks can reply with links to posts and clarification on content (new info, deprecated into, etc). If he and I have to do all the forum searching AND article assimilation ourselves, then the wiki will never get done. So, just keep an eye out on the Wiki forum section as things progress :)

Man, I'd really love to be able to use all this work I've done on my CV. Designing the website (free WP, so not from scratch) and forum, learning how to use the toolset, installer scripting, all the project coordination, I've actually really learned a lot. But, I'm a biologist, not in any type of tech area, so if I start talking about video game mods, I'm pretty sure I'll get laughed out of an interview.

Ah, well.

Yea, I know pretty much exactly what you mean. ;)
