Where did I go wrong with Legion?

Sometime during Priority Rannoch, Legion turned into Not Legion. I noticed it during that scene where Admiral Raan exclaims "what the hell is this?" after seeing Legion enter the war room. I noticed that he had some blue grid graphics over parts of him. Later, during the retaking of Rannoch, he was unsympathic to the Quarians. He said "you started it." This is not the Legion I wanted. Where did I go wrong? I wanted alliance with both Quarians and Geth.

Have you been editing your savegames? This has happened to me before when I've tried to alter things about Legion in a NG+ save. It can glitch and cause you to get Legion and the VI in the same game. I had that with Wrex/Wreav once. I'd say that save is borked, I never could fix that problem.

But to answer the title: You went wrong when you woke it up. The correct decision is to sell it to Cerberus. :D

As I recall, "What the hell is this?" line is said after Geth Dreadnought mission. So you had a Geth VI all along.

If you didn't mess with your saves the most likely answer is that you forgot to activate it or imported a save with it being inactive

Are you sure he survived the suicide mission in ME2? Maybe he died and you didn't notice. Even loyal squadies can sometimes die for... mysterious voodoo reasons.

Raan says the same line whether its Legion or the Geth vi since she's never seen the thing before.

If you take Legion to Tali's trial, Raan will recognize it on the Normandy in ME3

The flotilla Legion scene is something I'll never see outside of Youtube. I watched the video and the reactions, while funny are way below what the sh*tstorm would actually have been in that scenario. Besides, to get that scene you have to do the ME2 missions very un-naturally IMO.

Nah, it was just a "kill many" run. Headed straight to the IFF mission after it appeared. Activated the machine, brought it to Tali's trial, trolled the Admiralty Board, saved the galaxy :D

Yes, I did edit the Mass Effect 2 save that was imported into ME3 for this character. I also edited coalesced so that I could max renegade. But there were no renegade or justice dialogue options for Not Legion, and even though I kissed up to all the admirals they wouldn't listen when it counted. Thanks, guys.

Okay, I remember because I had just played that ME2. I mistakenly gave Legion to Cerberus, so he was never a choosable squad member. THEN I edited the ME2 quicksave game and activated Legion. Man, if only it were so easy. This particular playthrough seems ruined, because I had been planning for the best outcome but also to use cheat to max renegade for Illusive Man. Ah well...

You may be able to fix it. There might be a flag in the saved file you can find in Gibbed that lets you "uncheck" the Sell Legion option. You didn't actually reverse your decision in the game, you just unlocked the squadmate. If you browse the flags of your save you might be able to find the bit that remembers you selling Legion and turn it off.

The plot bool variable should be 1248 for giving Legion to Cerberus. You can see if it helps. Might have to do it before you start the Dreadnought mission to get it properly applied in ME3.

Its not ruined. Finish the playthrough and then go back to a save before selling the geth to Cerberus in ME2. Activate the geth, finish the ME2 playthrough with Legion as a squadmate, import to ME3 and see the difference having Legion in the game vs having the geth vi.

That did it! Chose the save named chaptersave, the one that saves before a mission. In this case it was the geth base mission. The variable was true, and setting it to false restored Legion back to his normal self. So now the geth and quarians are happy friends.

That ME2 save had several other things go wrong. Thane got headshot and Zaeed got lungshot.

Is there a comprehensive list of those bool values for manual editing or are you a master of gib-fu?

It's better with the Geth VI anyway.

Here are a few places that I found with Google.

Mostly the same stuff as in the one Valmar posted.
http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=eVZPgnb2

http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=zv8mxcxs

Not sure how up to date this one is. Might be a few more/less things here in a PlotDB.db file for use with ME3Explorer's Plot Var Database.
http://me3explorer.f...2460.html#p2460

Also Gibbed made a couple transcript files of ME3 with conditional requirements. It's pretty much the subtitles for the default ME3 game, excluding any DLC.

They are structured in a tree like form, use all 3 together to find plots for ME3:

http://mod.gib.me/ma...3/testdump2.txt
http://mod.gib.me/ma...onditionals.txt
http://mod.gib.me/ma...transitions.txt

As far as I know Gibbed never did any similar files for the DLC, so anything you want to find in those will be manual research with ME3Explorer, googling, or ask if someone else already knows the answer.

It's also possible to use Gibbed's ME2 SE's Compare feature. It will compare two save files and list any changes to bools/integers... etc that the editor has in it's database.

If there are plots you want to use for other playthroughs you can add them to the ME3 save editor by following this guide:

http://augmentedreal...-me-3-save.html

I have added things like:

Got discount from Harrot in ME2, which changes a tiny dialogue in Omega DLC.

Met Barla Von in ME1.

Tali was tech specialist in Omega 4.

Jack did the bubble in Omega 4.

.. and a bunch of others I like having available. Better having them directly as part of the save editor so I don't have to find them manually each time.
