Lol... well if one ever becomes available. I'd be happy to help you out with it. I really enjoy modding and stuff. Just for the fun of it all.

I used to modify the weights of all my guns in ME3 so they weighed nothing at all so I could use all the best weapons with no penalty to cool down on my Vanguard Shep!

Why?

Because I could!! ;)

I have had bad bad luck with stuff like that first mod I tried I think broke my game so anything to do with stuff like that I get a little skittish around

I thank you in advance for the help if one becomes available I will need all the help I can get.

The weight thing sounds awesome I usually just stayed to sticking to a sniper rifle and very light assault rifle for ME3 to try to avoid really bad cool down penalties

It doesn't work like that in here. More expensive chests don't bring better odds or guaranteed drops, you get the same crappy items as in the cheapest boxes. It is better to buy the expensive ones only because of better ratio gold to items. Even community chests for completing events don't have guaranteed rare drops. It is really RNG at its worst.

I need someone to level with me... is it really any good?

I ended up loving ME3 MP pretty hard, but I lasted all of 5 minutes into one match of DAI MP. It seems really bad, and the loot boxes are just exhausting and demoralizing at this point, even if they're not necessarily RMT.

Well, the concept isn't that bad and in small doses it can be pretty fun if you play with your friends or with some ok random group. But there is not nearly as enough content as ME3MP had at launch (not to mention that by this time there were already 2 DLC out and 3rd - with platinum difficulty - was on the way), there are almost no balance changes (there was one uncalled for nerf and one boost that was unnecessary, compared to MP that received 49 balance updates over the course of 1 year), it is grindy as hell with no guarantee of getting good items any time soon and there are still game-breaking bugs present (although, to be fair, one of the worst was patched, after 3 months).

So all in all it is a good premise, but hastily put together, with terrible netcode, not really polished, not really rewarding and despite that BW promises more content, so far they haven't delivered. I am not even holding my breath for it to get any better, I now only play with my friends once a week for the challenges. We still haven't figured out why we keep playing the challenges when they so far have been kinda boring with zero rewards.

Three threads on this topic now (maybe four, I might have seen another)

Why is there a big issue with these rare materials?

I crafted armour that allowed my party to beat the game on normal just fine.

Doing a run on Hard at the moment and again, I'm not finding my armour is wanting.

Is this for players on Nightmare?

I have heard some players say they want all their party to look pretty in top notch armour.

If people don't want to run around collecting rare materials, why not just not do that?

(people don't have to collect 10 Ram meat every time either, I have 66 power and I've only just got to Skyhold...)

I was not offended by the exploit, it wasn't harming me, so I didn't need it to be removed.

But who knows what knock on issue it would cause for DLC

or if it was simply something that BioWare fixed because it wasn't meant to be that way, surely that's fine?

It suggests to me that their priorities are a little screwed up. And given that a similar exploit is still kicking around DAO and DA2, it seems petty. They cynic in me suggests that yeah, maybe they want to sell this stuff to me.

I like it for subsequent playthoughs (I didn't even learn of it's existence until 50 hours into my second game) firstly because I like the ability to have full control over the appearance of my PC and companions, if I end up documenting the game with screenshots and FRAPS.

Second - like every game ever, it's a mechanic that's fine the first time through, but tedious and annoying the 4th (every Bioware game has had this problem to some extent). Eventually, I'm playing for different outcomes (or to revisit favorite ones) and anything to speed up certain aspects of that is helpful.

Thankfully, I'll be able to use cheat engine as things stand, but console players are SOL.

I absolutely cringe whenever I read posts along these lines. "The game needs [item] badly. Heck, I'd be willing to pay extra for the [item]."

This is precisely what they're hoping you'll say.

You are misunderstanding me, I hate microtransactions but if it had been in the game I would understand why the item duping was taken away. Not saying it would be a good reason, but at least id get it. As it is now, I have no idea what motivated them to do this.
Personally I was prepared for this. I had already made world states on Keep and imported them in before the patch went live and turned off auto updates. I may miss some DLC but not too worried.

This essentially conveys my opinions exactly and was my thought process when I opened this thread. I am a console player (for now at least) so I am SOL. I do have a gaming rig PC but rarely use it.

I hadn't played this game in several weeks. So I hop on last night and go to start a new play through. I create my character and get to where I am going to craft my first gear in Haven... and I quickly notice that the item dupe trick isn't working anymore.

First off... I am not calling it a "glitch" or "exploit" (even though it clearly is) because I figured it was something that Bioware wanted in the game. I've never played DAO or DA2 but from what I've read in forums... this same type of item dupe trick was in those games and was kept in those games through their entire life cycle.

So I guess I stupidly assumed that Bioware was doing us a solid and leaving this same trick in the game so that those of us not wanting to farm for hours upon hours on end could simply utilize this informal DA trick that has been in all the games.

Silly me!

Well, as soon as I saw that was patched, I cannot lie... I immediately thought to myself how much time I'd have to spend farming and said, "No thank you... this game isn't for me right now." Given, they already got my money so I guess the joke is on me.

But I do have one question. Bioware... if you are out there... and if you happen to read this post... please can you answer why you patched it this time when people were quite happy about this trick and you kept it in previous games? I just want to know what your thought process was here.

I don't understand it either as I've posted a more detailed response in a similar thread ... but my main point was I craft gear based on either upgrade slots, or general slots, in later game though on upgrade slots .. so that narrows it down to like 1 schematic for armor and it's upgrades, 1 or maybe 2 for shield and 1 for weapon .. not always a warrior but you get the general idea here I hope. I always play nightmare so for me making a few combos of this same gear with different stats is nice, but with no dupe trick or resource merchant, not really worth the time or effort and my teammates suffer *evil grin*. love charging bull slamming solas off cliffs.

It would be nice to have new and varied schematics and a new dupe trick *wink* or at least a resource merchant to play around with looks/styles as I'm sure there are a lot of players that sacrifice survivability for a different look every few hours or so doing all these ridiculous side fluff missions.

It would just make the game less tedious. Thanks for listening.

I understand fully and I agree with you whole heartedly.

At the end of the day, the way they set up this game's loot and crafting system felt like they were saying, "Hey people that support us and bought our game... we're going to make this a tedious and long winded challenge for you. But... we left in a familiar exploit that you've been using in our previous games for years now for you to circumvent all that if farming for hours isn't your thing *wink wink*."

Then... inexplicably... they patched it. SMH.

I believe it was fixed so there would be larger patch notes and it would seem like BW actually does something. I think there are not many people left doing the patches and testing them (since the majority of the DA team was transfered to other projects). It almost feels like they left behind one guy during the holiday break and he had to take care of it, so he chose the most easy fixes.

But I am honestly surprised there are no microtransactions for crafting mats etc. When for example AC:U had them in the single player campaign. They would fit into this rng grind pretty well :D

Actually Amelia said it was 1 guy who had to stay at work during the 2 week holiday. EA doesn't have real world working hours.

Yeah, I read some of her posts, Penguin made an interesting video. But I wasn't sure how to interpret this post in particular, it was something like "one of our engineers spent his holiday break working on this very issue" - was there more ppl working on other issues or was he the only one working? Because if he was the only one I would understand why it took so long and why the patch even made some things worse.
