I'm impatiently waiting for BioWare to patch a specific bug - the one where Morrigan thinks any Warden that stabbed her was in love with her and went through the mirror instead  - so that I can start my third run. I'm keen to play a particular Inquisitor I have in mind, and the world state I want for her just HAS to be the only one where Morrigan was stabbed ... If it's not patched by the end of the month, I'll probably give up and pick another Inquisitor off my 'to play' list. Really want to get through DAI one more time before Pillars of Eternity is released.

If you're not looking forward to a second playthrough, you should probably go play some other game. You're not obligated to repat a game you don't enjoy.

I was dreading a 4th play-though , and I feel like I'm already done with DAI since my third play-through tbh. I think I need to take a break for a while, until I come back for new content in DAI.

You can easily avoid this by doing Whicked Eyes and Whicked Hearts before that quest involving Hawke. Apparantly, doing it the other way around messes up her dialogue.

Not really - I was on my third playthrough before my dearly beloved laptop died. Now I'm just waiting for my new laptop to get here so that I can reinstall the game and resume playing.

New laptop is on the way? Nice.

@spork: Yeah, got an e-mail about stress testing today, so it should be shipping soon (Maker be praised and all that).

I'm on my second play through...and really having trouble getting used to the female Elf model. Also, her voice being the same as Trevelyan's is throwing me a little. I keep feeling like she should talk differently from the human noble. Of course, I could have gone with American accent, but then I would just have the same problem when I get to my female Qunari play though.

Actually, I'm kind of running a couple of playthroughs at once and hopping around on them, but the female elf is my current focus. Character jumping breaks up quest monotony for me.

Edit: I just have to make sure I don't forget which character I'm playing when I go to the war table.

I did the same thing. I´ve been trying to get a hold on the game but it just feels like a work at times. Changing between characters helps a little though. So far only one full playthrough with two LI´s. Replayed the same canon game again from the crucial point onward, just skipped most of the non-required side quests.

Ahh, cool. I love gettin' that e-mail. For the last PC I built -- my current rig -- they sent me the e-mail it had been shipped on the same day it arrived. it was like Christmas and my birthday all at once.

OMG really?! That's excellent news!

Now I just need to finish the Grim Fandango remaster and the Enhanced Edition of Throne of Bhaal (what can I say, I was on a nostalgia kick) and I can get back to Thedas.

I just bought the Grim Fandango remaster, myself. I'm hoping to drag myself away from Inquisition to play it sometime soon.

You guys with 4+ playthroughs, how are you going about them? Like, as it is my 1st playthrough, i'm doing EVERYTHING. I'm thinking it'd be a bit more enjoyable next time round if I JUST focused on main quest / romances / companion quests and any side quests I need to make up power points for new areas.

And for those who say I should take a break, I have... For a couple months now lol Been jumping between my other games.

Never heard of Cheat Engine... I assume it's a big ol' mod type download?

I have yet to finish my 1st (i'm up to "What Pride Had Wrough"), mainly because I get so bored playing the game. I'm not sure if it's just '1st time playing syndrome' or what, but i'm not sure i'm going to be able to complete my hopeful 9 playthroughs. In fact I find myself looking forward to finishing Inquisition just so I can start a new Origins character. I'm almost tempted to never play this again, and just pick all my decisions when they become available in the Keep...

Does anyone else feel similarly? Or, on the opposite side, does anyone find that they can't stop playing, and have a lot of completed playthroughs?

Have to say i haven't played game since before Christmas. First run ended up feeling a grind of endless fetch and my second run just stalled at the thought of more of that and not enough story content. May start a new run once story content DLC comes available if it sounds interesting and deep enough.

I have 1 completionist pt only and I am not planning on start another one anytime soon. You can certainly speedrun the game by doing only the necessary quests. I have completed 2 pt this way because I just want to try the romances/try different options during the main quests/see different people as the warden friend etc. it is possible to finish the game in 20 hours on normal. You might even find it enjoyable to make certain companions angry at you.

I definitely could not do a completionist PT for my first one. It slowed the story down too much, and not in an enjoyable way. First PT was story + companions quests + exploring, so I did a lot of side content but def not any of the collections and I had a fair amount of unfinished area quests too.

In fact, I may never end up doing one. I have had fun doing different things with different Quizzies..picking the bits that fit them and ignoring the others. For me at least, the side content is just too tedious to do all in one game. It's more fun to do it sparingly, and tie what I do to that specific characters interests and backstory.

But yeah, I mean, if you don't think you'll want to do another PT or even finish the game, don't make yourself miserable trying to! It should be fun. I've beaten the game twice and have several characters in the middle/end and I'm honestly running out of steam, so I'm just tabling it until the desire comes back, which I think it will.

After five playthroughs I can no longer bring myself to play in the Hinterlands. I've playyed at least three more times, but as soon as I get there I give up.

I often choose my side quests based on what my Inquisitor would do - for instance my current Dalish isn't really the biggest fan of shems so she's letting the people of Crossroads fend for themselves, but she did go to Dennet to get the horses for the Inquisition, even though it annoyed her that she had to do stuff for him first before he'd send them. She'll also probably go after all the shards, but she won't be taking on all the dragons - that's a job for my Qunari inquisitor who loves that stuff. And so on.

Completed playthroughs:

(1) Human mage Inquisitor, normal difficulty

(2) Dalish mage inquisitor, casual difficulty

(3) Dwarven Rogue inquisitor, hard difficulty

(4) Replay of (1), hard difficulty

In progress:

(1) Qunari mage Inquisitor, normal difficulty

(2) Second replay of (1), story and rp "detailist" and final canon

Planned:

(1) Human mage Inquisitor, male (all the others are female), attempting to romance Dorian (this is hard, since I'm really straight, but I also really like Dorian)

All my playthroughs are completionist playthroughs, i.e. I finish all collections and all quests I can rationalize doing with the occasional exception of leaving a few dragons alive because I roleplay, so there is not always a reason to kill them. The game has not ceased to be enjoyable. At this time, I know the game so well that I can play the potentially tedious parts in an "extended walk in the park" mindset that doesn't take a lot of attention. it's relaxing, and since the maps look so fantastic enjoying the scenery is quite enough for a visit. The only map I have trouble completing again is the Exalted Plains. There, I have a strong desire for a "killallhostiles" cheat command regardless of how overleveled I am, and a teleport cheat to avoid walking 359 degrees around a mountain in order to collect a shard one meter from where I started.

I played through 3 1/2 times and now I'm replaying the Witcher games.

The filler stuff is tedious, I agree. Especially on PC.

Well said. Couldn't agree more... except for the part about leaving dragons alive :P

Really want to get through DAI one more time before Pillars of Eternity is released.

LOL, same here. I'm immensely curious about what they've done with my money. Six weeks to go, should be enough for one more DAI playthrough.

SporkFu:

Yeah, I know. The eternal question of loot vs. roleplaying. Am I willing to forego giving Cassandra the armor made for her (Armor of the Knights Divine) just because I don't see a rp reason to kill the Sandy Howler? Really, my Inquisitor doesn't want to attack a sleeping dragon that poses no danger to anyone. Too bad I can't cheat with unique items. It's not even because the armor is so good, but rather because it looks so good.

I've done way more than one playthrough, played different races, experimented with the Keep variations.

Most of my playthroughs last about 55-60 hours now because I know my way around the game.

You do realize you don't have to do everything in the Hinterlands right?

You can do enough to get all the agents and enough power to open the other areas.

Not at all.

Actually, my thing with most Bioware games is that I enjoy them better the second time, because I simply understand certain lore/connections better; or know what to look out for. It's like listening to a well made record.

Currently replaying the game on Nightmare, still an archer rogue, but different appearance/personality, since meeting a strikingly similar looking Hawke was punishingly awkward: "Hey, I'm the dude that guy always creates in games. -Orly? Me too! Except I used to be funnier"

I can only urge everyone to play Nightmare, by the way. It's only really hard at the beginning, after that it simply makes you use the (as of Patch 3 functional) Tactical camera, as well as Elixirs & Bombs more; really just expanding the experience. I did not notice any boss encounters being significantly different or more demanding.

It's not even about the loot... not entirely

I love the dragon fights. I look forward to them, and I love how excited Bull and Sera get. For me, they're the most fun fights in the game. I love that they're not cardboard cutouts of each other, and that you have to prepare your group to fight them. The music is epic, and when she roars and takes flight... it's brilliant.

Ok, so I should grit my teeth, bear through the last chunk of the game, then I can have nice cruisey main-quest focused playthroughs lol

For those who pretty much ignore side content, do you still find you get enough chances to raise romance approval?

And as for the role playing aspect regarding side-quests, yeah, i'll most likely do that. I always did it in Origins with the different job factions n' what not. Will make war table missions a bit more interesting too. I just wish you could 'ignore' them and remove them from the table lol
