I played through once, completionist playthrough. Started another character, got to Val Royeaux but realized I had no desire to finish the game. Still love the story, what there is of it, but I feel this game doesn't reward multiple playthroughs in the same way DAO did.

I'm not unhappy, though, i got 120 hours enjoyment out of it, which is a great ROI.

Probably pick up the game again when DLC comes out.

You guys with 4+ playthroughs, how are you going about them? Like, as it is my 1st playthrough, i'm doing EVERYTHING. I'm thinking it'd be a bit more enjoyable next time round if I JUST focused on main quest / romances / companion quests and any side quests I need to make up power points for new areas.

And for those who say I should take a break, I have... For a couple months now lol Been jumping between my other games.

Never heard of Cheat Engine... I assume it's a big ol' mod type download?

Ok, I'll be detailed:

Before first visiting Val Royeux I do quests until I reach influence level 2. Get my first knowledge perk.

After Val Royeux I do quests until I reach influence level 4, pick two more knowledge perks. Then I do the Templars or Mages.
Farm till level 5 (this means I'll have cleared most of the Hinterlands and the Storm Coast, I know these areas pretty much by heart now :P), get the final knowledge perk.

Close the Breach, reach Skyhold, unlock specializations, do some quests I like (usually capture the Keep in Crestwood, but not complete the entire questline) and/or complete the Fallow Mire's main quest.  Reach level 6 (should happen real fast btw, if you close the breach at level 5, you'll be roughly halfway to 6 by the time you're leaving Skyhold for the first time)
Unlock influence/power merchant at level 6, get Advanced Focus perk.

Buy influence till I'm out of gold, reach level 7 (and on occasion even 8 in a single go :P). Pick Master focus.

Slay the first 4 dragons, and possibly even the first 6 (depends on my own or Sera's gear). Usually do some quests along the way too, and for the Abyssal High Dragon it's a must.

Do whatever from that point on, but I do clear all the main quests from all areas. Except Forbidden Oasis, never go there.

If you do it like this you'll be vastly overleveled for most of the game though. I don't care, but some people make a big deal out of this.

My absolute favourite from the 'do whatever'-phase is the Tomb of Fairel quest in the Hissing Wastes.

I will probably NEVER do a completionist run of this game. I might once get all the shards though.

Oh, fun fact: Last run I killed all dragons before even starting Whicked Eyes or that Hawke quest in the Fade whose name I can't seem to memorize

Completed playthroughs:

(1) Human mage Inquisitor, normal difficulty

(2) Dalish mage inquisitor, casual difficulty

(3) Dwarven Rogue inquisitor, hard difficulty

(4) Replay of (1), hard difficulty

In progress:

(1) Qunari mage Inquisitor, normal difficulty

(2) Second replay of (1), story and rp "detailist" and final canon

Planned:

(1) Human mage Inquisitor, male (all the others are female), attempting to romance Dorian (this is hard, since I'm really straight, but I also really like Dorian)

All my playthroughs are completionist playthroughs, i.e. I finish all collections and all quests I can rationalize doing with the occasional exception of leaving a few dragons alive because I roleplay, so there is not always a reason to kill them. The game has not ceased to be enjoyable. At this time, I know the game so well that I can play the potentially tedious parts in an "extended walk in the park" mindset that doesn't take a lot of attention. it's relaxing, and since the maps look so fantastic enjoying the scenery is quite enough for a visit. The only map I have trouble completing again is the Exalted Plains. There, I have a strong desire for a "killallhostiles" cheat command regardless of how overleveled I am, and a teleport cheat to avoid walking 359 degrees around a mountain in order to collect a shard one meter from where I started.

Wow! Some effort there.

My second play through will probably be the same as my first, regarding choices and race because I'm ~so~ creative. But yeah, like most others, I'm always keen to keep playing.

my current playthrough (which is my second) has actually been more fun then my first. But I will say the vastness of the Hissing Wastes is starting to get boring as I explore it.

Will I play through again? Likely as I have different things I would like to try.

I'm close to finishing my first run through as a Qunari rogue. As I've played, I've been planning what I'd do on my next run-through as a different character. I'm definitely going to be elf next time. As much as I love playing an archer, I might try mage. But I'm torn. As an archer, you can move around (slowly, but surely) while firing your weapon. I don't think you can do that with any other skill. As a mage, I might miss that.

Anyway, I'll have to let you know how I feel once I start game 2. But right now, I've been planning all the different decisions and things I'm going to make as my next Inquisitor.

I may have had that feeling when I delayed completing the final quest for almost a week.  I was semi bored and was starting an alt, and when I finally got around to finishing the game, the ending and final battle left me a bit.....  underwhelmed.   I won't spoil it for anyone here but my suggestion is to keep your head down and power through the last few quests of the game and finish it.  Then start an alt and you will enjoy it much better as well as from a slightly different perspective.

I'm currently playing my 3rd, 4th, and 5th playthroughs. Three different characters at the same time. One is almost at end game, one's just about to go to the Winter Palace, and one is still in the Hinterlands.

For those who pretty much ignore side content, do you still find you get enough chances to raise romance approval?

It depends largely on who you're romancing and what kind of character you're playing, but overall it's pretty easy. If you're making a lot of decisions they hate (like at the Mage/Tempar quest and Skyhold Arrival Speech), you may want to do some questing to get it back quickly so you can have them as a locked in romance for the big main quests, but that applies for slower runs too, to be honest.  The only time I had to do a lot of sidequesting was doing a Solas disapproval to romance run, but I assumed it would be a lot of work to get him to like me after I decked him. And it was possible, and it didn't take that much time. The nice thing about this is that since you haven't done any of the side quests, you can an go back and get them for whatever approval you need....like helping people in the Hinterlands for Solas, or the horse races for Bull, or whatnot.

Do I get bored?

I am currently on my 8th playthrough with aprox. 700 hours spend.

Yes, I am bored. No, I am most certainly not bored.

I like the story and the options, the characters and the graphics. I'm just bored with collecting herbs.

You do realize you don't have to do everything in the Hinterlands right?

You can do enough to get all the agents and enough power to open the other areas.

I know, but it reminds me of the whole power mechanic. In the first few hours it seems to me like power can't come fast enough and then once you have more than enough it gets handed out like candy.

yes I really want to play the story again and use other companions, make different choices (siding with the templars this time maybe?)

but the huge amount of fetch quests and those huge lifeless areas are keeping me from doing another playthrough

DA:I didn't need any of that

can't believe some are already on their fourth playthroughs but hey these are the bioware forums

of course there will be hardcore fans

I remember I played ME2 like 10 times so I get it

Yeaaah. I even preordered this game but still have finished only one playthrough

All these fetch quests with no proper content just kill the mood

I'll have to make my main playthrough one day - but before that I decided to replay my main Origins and 2 characters. Maybe that'll put me in the mood

Nope, I'm on my 6th and next is "What pride had wrought". Have already planned my next character, but I try to take a brake after this one so I don't get bored.
