Apologies if this is covered somewhere already, but if I craft my mage's gear -- staff, armor -- to have increased critical chance and damage, does that apply to the spirit blade as well?

yes

Thank you. Good to know for my next K-E game. Fights should take a little less time now, heh.

Your question makes it sound like you might think weapon bonuses only effect attacks that look like they are made with that weapon. This is not true. For instance, a bow with crit chance will add crit chance to a rogue's hidden blades and throwing knives attacks, and even to spike traps. A staff will add its attack bonuses to spirit blades, yes, but only because it adds them to all of your attacks and spells.

Thanks for this info as well, as I didn't know that either.

The reason I asked is that I just killed my first dragon with a 2H warrior, and I was getting crit hits a lot, and doing wayyyy more damage with each. Now I know that there are other factors involved in calculating damage, but with the warrior it was easy to see the difference between crit hits and normal hits. With my KE it seemed every one of her spirit blade hits did roughly the same damage. I dunno, maybe she's just unlucky, heh.
