Well, let me clarify that I'm actually a huge proponent of having a dwarf LI in the game.  I play almost exclusively as a dwarf (and now qunari), so I'd love for my dwarves (some of them) to end up with another dwarf.  I don't think there's anything 'fetish' like personally.  It's just that I've seen people misconstrue Gaider's words around this so many times that it's frustrating.  He has gotten fairly defensive (pissy?) about this at times and I'd hate to see it be yet another thing that frustrates him about BSN.  Especially since, if he's frustrated about, he might not even entertain the idea of writing a dwarf romance out of that frustration.  And, to be honest, I'd love for him to write a dwarf, since his characters are always so well done.

 

To be honest, I have a strong suspicion that the 'flirt' options with Harding were a sneaky way to determine just how popular a dwarf LI would be.  She's physically attractive, has a great personality, and is a bad-ass, so people, naturally, are interested in her.  Now that they see how popular she has been (and how many people are pining for her), I'd be surprised if we didn't get a female dwarf LI in the next game (possibly even Harding herself, as a 'returning companion' and LI).  I would, personally, prefer a male dwarf (short, stocky, hairy guys are kind of my thing.....), but I'd be down either way.  Just my thoughts on it.

Actually, she's already married. All the more reason for her to keep her hands off Varrick and let him find someone else to be happy with. I find her behavior distasteful for a married woman, no matter that the marriage was forced. Varric should also be wise enough to let her go.

Well... basically, Gaider's post was "taken out of context". Personally, he finds the idea disgusting... something about "fetishes" but then went on to say that he wouldn't be completely against writing a dwarf LI in the future. That's my impression on it, anyway.

Well, lets just say that if I was in Bianca's shoes, I would let Varric go, would want him to be truly happy, instead of keeping him in a invisible leash. That is what truly loving someone means; placing their happiness before your own. Nothing good can come out of the triangle they have currently going on.

One time was enough for me. There was just so much wrong in that scene that it's not even funny and the Citadel scene was just salt into the wounds. Never went back playing with that Shep again.   Oh, but I'm derailing this thread now, aren't I? Sorry about that.

I love Varric and prior to release, I would have been in complete accord with you OP.  However, meeting Bianca finally as well as seeing their dynamic changed my mind.  I still adore Varric and he's the only rogue I tend to bring with me.  He is very much taken though.  Plus, I think of it like this: The man is over 40 years old and he's been in this weird off-and-on again relationship for over 10 years at least.  I'm not sure I'd want to try to be with someone that has gone through something like that for that long.  It isn't just Bianca needing to let go, Varric would need to as well.  And...whatever it is, works for them. 

 

Besides, I was personally very happy to meet Bianca the dwarf.  I was gonna be very annoyed if there was another game where we only hear him gush about the crossbow.

Shame they couldn't give her a unique character model, though.  Unless, we're supposed to think that she's also talking to Josephine in Haven and hanging around with two other dwarves in the Winter Palace......

I ended up liking her too. It was a story that I was initially really sort of hoping would just be left to our imaginations (I thought her cameo in the comics was super meh), but she was funny, she's good for Varric, and I'm constitutionally incapable of disliking anyone voiced by Laura Bailey.

Regardless, your argument was already settled quite nicely by another poster who pointed it out and gave context to what that joke was about. If you cannot find it in you to find more than a lazy way of saying "your just lazy" with no real argument other than just saying it for the sake of it, I don't see why you should post here in the feedback forums.

 

But go ahead, attack more threads and insult more people. Get more threads locked just because you cannot put in the effort to explain your point of view without nasty remarks.

Just so you know I've had O warning posts. I don't call anybody names or use profanity. I've also helped countless people by private e-mail on how to improve the performance of their game.

I've been waiting patiently for fifteen years for BioWare to write a dwarf romance. I expect to be waiting patiently for the next fifteen.
