Tell me this guys:
How much BS are we gonna tolerate with the "next-gen" before we say enough is enough??
How is all this crap okay or acceptable? The amount of hoops we have to jump through just to play videogames is getting to be utterly ludicrous. I am washing my hands of this new console generation.
Sorry Sony/Micro$oft. You lost another one.

I recently caved into peer pressure and traded in my PS4 for an Xbox One; all my close friends are on Xbox (stupid brand loyalty), and I didn't currently have the finances to shell out $400 for a brand new console and games/accessories. I had originally played on an Xbox 360 but I decided to switch platforms upon moving to the new generation. I don't give a care about graphics or resolution, but I do care about ease of use and a system that caters to me as a gamer.
After only a few days with this new console I am already starting to get annoyed with all these hoops I have to jump through just to play a game with my friends. Maybe I am going about this the wrong way, which wouldn't surprise me as I am still trying to figure out how to navigate the menus, but I find it incredibly annoying that:
- I have to manually go into the menu and turn my Xbox One to 'offline' mode in order to force it to recognize that it should install my new game from the disc I just inserted, rather than trying to download the entire title off of the internet.
- I have to sit and wait for massive patches; some well over 5 GB; to install before the multiplayer features of the game I am wanting to play with my friends become available.
- I have to download an update ….. for my controller? The first time I get on Xbox Live with my friends I couldn't figure out why we were unable to talk to each other. Come to find out that my controller needs a software update, which doesn't make sense because as far as I can see there is nothing super special about my Xbox controller compared to my PS4 one.
- The Xbox One controller that comes with the console ISN'T rechargeable by default like the PS4 controller. I had to buy a re-chargable kit separately.
- After installing the two Assassins Creed games that came with the console…. as digital copies; I didn't have any real interest in playing these games, but since I can't trade them in for store credit I figured I might as well get them installed; a process that took several days to complete (installing the game and downloading updates). After I finished with that endeavor I noticed that with just those two games I have used up about 25% of my console's total hard drive space. So I am only limited to having only 8 tittles installed on my console at a time?
Needless to say I have been sorely disappointed with the product thus far; the only reason why I continue to use it is because of my close friends. Has anyone else been experiencing similar issues with their Xbox One's? Am I doing something wrong here?
You are doing it right. If it makes you feel any better I started out with a PS4 too, it died at 11 months old (November 18th 2014, I got to play Dragon Age Inquisition for two hours on it) so I bought an Xbox One.
I agree that the controller not coming with a rechargeable kit sucks and so does the install times for games, the install and patch times are vastly inferior to the Playstation 4. I've gotten around the time issue by being sure I have something else to keep me occupied before putting in a game for the first time, usually the Pokemon games on my 3DS. It is good that you take your Xbox One offline to install games, it is way quicker that way.
I hope that they fix the Xbox One User interface (and the Playstation 4's) they are both awful and extremely user unfriendly, I really like the 360's interface and I wish they hadn't changed it so drastically for the Xbox One.
But yeah, you are handling everything right. Microsoft has stated that they are looking for ways to cut down the install and patch times, so hopefully that gets better in the future.

I play GTA 3 on my work PC.
I saw Xbox One on sale for only $300 the other day and I was really tempted to buy it, but I already had a PS4.

I've had an X1 since launch.
I'm not bothered by the controller or system updates, nor are install times too worrisome. There's always something else to do.
Lately I've been using the X1's Twitch app to watch livestreams of people playing ESO. If I were installing something, I'd probably switch over to that if its taking a long time.

It was this.
Next time a similar deal goes live, I'll post it. They are usually gone within hours.
It's just too bad that these deals are usually for the people who live in the US.
**** man. Here soon i was thinking of getting that AC Bundle, mostly for BF and hoping to take Unity to either a pown shop(in town they dont know gaming stuff.i screwed them a few times
) or ma n pop game store a town over.their fair with me and give decent deals.i've known them for 17 years give or take

Alot of the Xbox One issues are still a work in progress, but it has Halo which is why my friends and I didn't switch to PS4. Also Sony will be bankrupt in 2 years and the PS4 will be abandoned or sold off like the 3DO was.

I was disappointed with the Xbox brand for many years and that's why I decided to go PlayStation. I was an Xbox gamer from 2002-2014, although I also owned a PS1 and PS2. So, I was hardly what you might call an Xbot. That said, all my "friends" decided to go with the Xbox One because they're all obsessed with Halo, even with 343 at the helm. They weren't very happy with my choice, but in the end what matters is that I'm happy with my choice.
Not trying to tell you what to do though. Go with your gut on this one.
