Want to get back into the Falloutverse. My 360 is finally shot.

So I figured, what the heck, picked up the GOTY version for PC.

I have a  Win 7 laptop, but I assume the game can run...........  it was a steal for only 17 bucks LOL.

But I'm curious if anyone has modded their games at all?

Or in which order shoul the dlc's be played?

I know Broken Steel is the extra bit that comes after the final end, but is it possible to play Anchorage, then the Pitt after leaving Vault 101 or will that get me slaughtere

Or any mods that will improve my game will be nice  ^_^

It has run fine for me on Windows 7. I don't know if it will run on your laptop though, it really depends on your specs.

I personally prefer in the order they were released.

I have in the past. I didn't really get too far as I have a mental barrier when it comes to mods, but there is some cool stuff out there.

You'll probably want the sutter fix mod. I don't have the link off hand, but I'm sure someone can point you in the right direction.

I have like 409GB free, a 2.20GHZ i-3 Intel core.... I mean I know i'll probably run. I have dragon age origins, plus TOR on this thing...

I figure if it can run The Old Republic............a massive MMO, I can run Fallout.....

I have Fallout 3 modded to the point that I refuse to deinstall it. Simply due to the hours I dumped into modding the freaking game. lol

Best place to start is always: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/?

You will want to sang a mod manager.

The nexus mod manager does the job, but watching some youtube vid's on how to use Fallout Mod Mananager is the way to go:

http://www.nexusmods...out3/mods/640/?

You will need to snag LOOT for managing your mods load order. Load order is more or less the order that Fallout 3 loads mods. If a mod is too high or low in your load order, it can cause issues with the mod and even the game itself, such as crashing.

http://loot.github.io/

FO3Edit is a required tool for detecting conflicting mods:

http://www.nexusmods...out3/mods/637/?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPK7R71zcwM

Right off the bat, get the community patches and install them first.

http://www.nexusmods...?id=19122&pUp=1

Modding games like Fallout 3 can be a bit of a pain at first. But, doing some research before jumping into it will help you avoid some headaches for sure.

Wooooooooow thank you!

Yup, I see that FO3 has a Nexus, where I check for dragon age ones

I beat FO3 on 360 not long ago.............the ending was ok..............touching, but fell flat............

Now you can play past the ending with the Broken Steel part of the GOTY edition.

The only website you'll ever need for FO3.

I recommend trying both FWE and FOOK2 (though not at the same time as both are massive overhaul mods, I don't even know if they are compatible with each other ...).

Also everything Borne to loose wrote.

I'd recommend leaving Broken Steel deactivated until shortly before the last quest. If you start up with it activated, there's sometimes a glitch that causes Three Dog to broadcast reports that reference the events of Broken Steel before they've actually happened.

I'm not sure how much the combat in the other DLCs adjusts depending on your character's level. One thing to keep in mind for immersion purposes is the long travel time to get to Point Lookout, which means that the LW is absent from the Capital Wasteland for several months even if it doesn't take you too long to complete the quests once you get there. So you might want to save it for after the main quest. Not sure if the same is true of travel time for The Pitt.

Don't know much about the mods, but I've played both Anchorage and The Pitt pretty early on into a game. Both DLC have methods that prevent you from using your items for the duration of the DLC itself, so building up a lot of firepower doesn't matter a whole lot for them anyway.

The Pitt is an excellent DLC to play rather early, same as Anchorage, though some of the rewards you get can really screw with the game balance (Tribal Power Armor, Perforator, Winterized Power Armor, Stealth Armor and the Gauss Rifle), so if you don't want to roflstomp through the Wasteland, use that gear sparingly if you got it early in your playthrough when the enemies are still weak.

Because of this thread, I'm gonna install Fallout 3 on my new PC and play it.

I hope I still have my old game saves.

You don't even want to see the list I had during my modding peak for FO3 ... that were like fourty mods of varying scope, some of which I had tuned myself using the G.E.C.K. to clear out conflicts like item lists, vendor lists or just tuning some item stats, all of those changes resulting in another .esp file that would override the original mod it belongs to plus then the merged patch and each file properly master indexed where it was needed ... something around sixty files juggled around to get a load order that doesn't crash every five minutes.

I had delved a bit into making my own .bik files to help organize things better, but that turned out be above my amateur modding skills. Prepare to learn a lot about file management and basic modding if you want to go ham with it.

My mod file was bigger than the basegame.

I rate this complete edition 8/10. Go for it.

Though New Vegas complete is 9.5/10

And so far after 40 hours of playing I rate DA:I: 8.25/10

Bethesda made games in general tend to be a gold mine for modding. They allow such freedom in modding their games that you can get mods to turn the game into an entirely new experience each time you play.

Got the mo manager, can't really look at it till I intsall teh game, but there are a loooooooot of rules to mod F03 apparently lol

It might seem overwhelming at first, but once you do it a couple of times the process becomes a lot easier and you'll be loading and unloading mods like a pro.
