ok im relatively new to DAI MP (one week of real play), but i went pretty hard in ME3, so i kinda know the bioware routine.

i play with pugs and i think it ruins the fun if people just run past secrets and slaughter everything (and also ignore "come here" shouts).  it seems pretty dumb to ignore the extra loot. and its kinda ignorant if one just runs ahead and has all the slaughtering fun while others play slower to do the looting. are these people in fact noobs who dont know better or dont care, or is this some kind of pro strategy?

Thats exactly right, they have to run ahead to get all the kills so they can finish in first place. I already suggested a few simple ideas to fix that problem, in the the feedback and suggestion room.

Yes, this is frustrating for people who do want the gold.  Those who have been playing since release, or have had great luck with RNG, have great weps and acc, so they are often focused on speed running in order to promote their characters and gain atrribute points.  I have been playing since day 1 also, but still need more unique weps, also considering other players still need them too, so I am totally cool with grabbing all the gold.

Recommend you host your own games, and when people join let them know you want to collect gold so speed runners can find another lobby.

To be fair you admit your new but call people dumb for ignoring your come here shouts(which is in fact extremely annoying and your lucky you didn't get kicked). The reason why people skip the doors is just because they aren't worth the time.

More xp/gold per hour + imo more fun per hour.

If you had headset why did you not just ask in game instead of spamming come here?? : s

No this is called arrogance. I have no respect for these types, they're no better than trolls. The ones who'll at least stop to open a door for others while moving on to pug, I can appreciate a little bit, though.

Skipping doors can fit into one of many strategies. Although I am not sure it matter, I want to preface by saying that I play with an awesome group of guys. The majority of the guys are 300-450 prestige (not noobs).

When I play, I prefer to get completions and skip the doors unless it is a completely free chest. I prefer to skip the doors because I have almost all the gear I want. Completions on perilous and for the different classes are more valuable to me than stopping at doors. Also, speed running will net more experience and almost the same gold (because skipping 8 rooms saves quite a bit of time).

I also prefer to clear the board first and go back to chests. Hit streaks are higher netting more TEAM EXPERIENCE. I often play as a keeper or barrier/elementalist. For me, it isnt about kill streaks. But for the team experience it is about kill streaks.

That being said, I ALWAYS use my mic and tell the group I am playing with that I will stop at doors if that is the preference of ANYONE in the group. I have a preference but rarely force it on someone. On the rare instance I run routine, I hate stopping because I get almost no gold for stopping at a doors.. but again.. I still stop.

So I think lots of "pros" prefer skipping them. Lots of pros prefer stopping... and lots of noobs want to get kills so they rush through and dont respect your preference.

Just kindly ask them to stop. If they dont, go with the flow and do not stop either or find a group that respects your preference.

If I am playing with a 'run ahead player' I'll change next lobby.*

If there is a door I can open and there are no mobs outside it, I will.

If the 'run ahead' dies or wipes the enemies, fine (until next lobby)

If the 'run ahead' teleports me forward before I open a chest I certainly won't be happy.

*The only exception is if the person asks in the lobby before the game

and if the others are fine with it, I'll play along that way.

Oh, I'll only do a 'come here' once.

They can hear it, so if they don't come, that's their choice for me to deal with - they may have a good reason.

This is actually a good point. Another reason why there needs to be some kind of text chat in-game for those without mics. Some people rush on ahead to kill off all enemies and then circle back to open doors. Others might legitimately not realize other's are trying to signal them because sound get's silenced in the game so often.

I think the vast majority are just "me first" types, though. They already have all the loot, why bother helping out the new guys?

Agree with skipping doors...and I don't really smash pots either. Both these things are too boring in comparison to the main battles across the map.

Also agree with getting on voice and becoming vocal to your team about what you want. Most teams will usually comply with anyone's needs.

What system are you playing on that people get kicked just for using the communication buttons?  In case you havent noticed a lot of people are socially awkward and aren't comfortable on the mic, which is why these communication buttons are conveniently added.  I also use the communication buttons to flag doors, and I have never seen anyone get kicked for it.

Thanks. I have played with my fair share of morons... trust me. I also used to hate it when people would run ahead. Unlike a lot of the run ahead types, I tend to find really cool guys to mp. We have our kill streak lovers.. but we all adapt and share keeper responsibilities. You can always message someone in game..but it does suck people dont want to help others. That is why I defer to the person that prefers to skip..

and because I am so awesome and a Sun Bro type (DS reference), I actually always help noobs.

for the love of g*d.. please dont sit at level 20 with a character.. it hurts my soul to watch the wasted experience.

Personally, when i'm on a team with 2-3 voice people and 1 guy is spamming communication buttons, I don't even notice them. He's just like the quiet guy in the room who gets no attention but he probably has a lot to say if he just gave himself a chance to talk (get on voice).

I got into a good game last night with a couple of new guys. You've seen them. You get to a room that needs a lockpick and they just stand there for a minute, not knowing how exactly to open the door but obviously willing to open it. So, we're trucking along doing well and an Ele drops in. Who proceeds to run past every door he can open, drawing aggro to the new guys, then just killing everything because he can.

I was host. I dropped the game. I don't put up with that nonsense. You want to solo, do it on your time, not mine.

Unfortunately, treasure rooms aren't necessarily worth it, even though I don't mind stopping at every one. It's hard to get a consensus in public games, so I tend to stick with what the majority do.

You obviously have not been exposed to the trauma of xbox live voice chatting over the past 12 years.  Voice chatting was used exclusively for trash talking to complete strangers or being very annoying.  Now most people don't even bother with the voice chat because of it.  So unless I have been playing with you for a while I have absolutely nothing to say to you, just do your job and open the damn door.

Lol. Yes, I forgot the console crowds tend to have immature communities because the crowd is much younger on average. When you're older you can join the PC Master Race and your social and door needs will be met!

Treasure rooms and pots are like Elfroot.

There is a strangely unnatural compulsion to loot them/pick them.

I generally do the doors, and stick with the group, but just to let you know, there is a growing segment of us who have chosen to always ignore "come here" shouts. If someone starts spamming it, I will deliberately avoid them.

Of all the MP crimes in DA:I, I consider the worst one to be spamming "over here."

Voice chatting was the bomb before parties. I loved playing NHL or Gears of War and talking crap to people. Nothing better than a team being so cocky before a game then beating them down and hearing the rage after. Good times.

I will give you that, I am on steam and everyone seems more mature. There's not generally a lot of voice chatting on the games I played (L4D2 and SC Blacklist) but everyone seems more relaxed and respectful.  I can make more friends on steam in an hour than I can with xboxlive in a year.

If you have a good group speed running you can run 2-3 games by the time it takes to run 1 game opening doors. Running 2-3 games will get you more xp and gold versus running 1 game opening doors. Also don't need that one awesome level 2 dagger that you have to fight a Revanent for.

I just follow the group, you usually find out what kind of party you're with by the first treasure room. If they are not a treasure room group i usually change lobbies after the run.  I needs mah golds!

This, Why do we need to rage in debates in every thread about gold vs exp. Some people want the gold some people want the exp, this is the best way to do it.
