I got my first and only Heal on Kill ring so far (5%) so I'm ok with that. Rest of the items weren't anything useful though.

I got an enhanced ring of bullshit (honestly I forgot which one, but one of the useless ones) and a master frost rune.

boring tasks to obtain one or two "large chests" or "large chests of slightly less disappointment", they should do the same recipe they did 3 years ago in me3mp.
Because they've publicly announced that the Commendation and Victory chests do in fact have better drop rates, the box of salvage I receive every time a far greater disappointment than a normal chest.
This pile of nothing is better than I can normally expect from a large chest?

Well even if they increased good item odds by a few % points, it still amounts to nothing in the grand scheme
I've taken to saving up 120k gold at a time then buying 10 large chests. I usually get 1 half decent item out of every 10 so I don't feel so slighted.

I want exact figures on how they improved the drop rate because tbh I personally think the drops for me got worse, not better and that's coming from someone who has received no uniques or high level blues in victory/commendation chests and then I have friends who are getting their 4th griffon bow or 3rd FoV and here i am with none of dat shiz.

If they improved the unique droprate in the Victory Chest from say 2.5% to 4%, that's a pretty significant improvement (nearly double), but not something that you'd be likely to personally notice.
Which is why the current approach to "improved drop rates" is really confusing to me:
"We've heard that you are all really frustrated by the drop rates and loot system, and felt let down by the Commendation/Victory chests. So we've implemented an improvement that is undetectable in a small sample size, on chests you can only open once per week"
What?

Developer logic. Actually, more like publisher logic. Probably under advisement not to change anything so much that it'll impact platinum sales (if anyone's even buying that stuff).

I never got that logic. You'd think that if it was actually worth doing so because chests held stuff people actually wanted, they'd be MORE inclined to buy Platinum and roll their luck instead of the other way around.
Then again, there are those rich people who'll just throw money away because they can and keep spending until they get what they're looking for.

Yeah, if you want to influence people's behavior, the differences have to be both announced and large enough to be obvious.
"These Commendation chests have a tiny and unspecified 'better loot' calculation" won't influence anyone.
"These Commendation chests drop Uniques at 50% instead of the normal 4.5%-5%" would influence someone.
