I'm pretty sure that this is the premise of many a Lifetime original movie.

Don't get me wrong. I'm all for romances, particularly for these type of games... you're role-playing a character, so it makes sense that said character finds true love.

But this situation here, is just taking it to extremes.. I mean, before I met Sera, I wasn't going to romance anybody. I was gonna go solo and save Thedas from rifts in the sky.. alone. Don't need boobs, arse and love to do that if nothing catches the attention, if you get my drift.

Point is.. I'm simply dumbstruck that certain individuals feel the need to complain about such trivial concepts.. to the point where they need to get on Twitter to spam about "ugly romance options".

 

I have my issues with the game, I have expressed these elsewhere. But I could think of much better things to whinge about than romance.. or "so and so" rejected me. Seriously, I thought I was whacked... but people on the BSN actually make me feel sane.

 

Well, the companions and relations with them (friendship, alienation, romance or whatever) are a huge part of why people, me included, play BioWare games. I will not deny that. I know games with more compelling combat, so that's not it at least.

However, Sera is only one of three female options and so that is just ridiculous. And if somebody cannot put up with either Cass nor Josie I am sorry for him. (And I think the non-elven straight female options (Blackwall and Iron Bull) are a lot more controversial than these girls.)

So if somebody must open a thread only to complain to BioWare that the one elf girl -- who, he claims, is even completely ugly on the outside and inside -- is locked out for being homosexual, that is plain silly. Maybe not even trolling, just really really sad. First I thought he had felt offended by the way she had turned him down, but not even that seems legit.

 

People always want games to be more realistic and when they get a taste of that they are not satisfied either. Tough love.

The OP really reminds me of those guys who get angry & aggressive if a woman turns them down at a bar/club, if a game character turning him down gets him angry enough to want vengeance i hate to think what would happen if a real woman said no

And what lesson would that be? That there are some people who think the world revolves around themselves, and you shouldn't have your own sexuality if it doesn't accomodate them? Anyone would think her rejection had involved setting your Inquisitor's head on fire.

 

It's a shame that neither of the other options appeal to you, but it happens. None of the Mass Effect LIs (for women) appealed to me, so my Shepard stayed single. It's sad for you, but you just have to get on with it. Have a little grace, man.

She pretty much turns you down pretty tamely later on actually, if you keep flirting with her. Tells you in excitement that you both like the same thing: women. This is far from "rude".

I was playing as my male inquisitor and, after getting all the red handkerchiefs I completed the quest to unlock Sera. My first impression was : "So she's a short-haired woman wich is kinda ugly, but expressive. I really liked her! She'll be a great addition to my team! *BAM* You're hired."

 

So, after getting back to Haven, I had a chat with Sera at the tavern. When I hit 4 - the romance option button - she not only reject me, but she cringed at me.

 

Cringed... at... me...

 

Why not only "Look, I like girls. But it's alrit innit?", or something like that, in her silly way to speak?

 

I have been rejected by many women in real life before, but... This is new. I feel like I am crap. Before, I just felt like a loser, but whom could do something at life.

 

 

Can anyone help me? Your help would be very appreciated... Thank you...

To put things in perspective: personally I actually think Sera is kind of an arshole. Funny part? The only way I know of where you can actually learn that is by playing a female elf and romancing her. She also has some bad moments outside of that scenario, but nothing strong. And that oh-so-cruel way she possibly turns the male Inquisitor down? That's tactless and obnoxious, but hardly has anything to do with being an arsehole...
