You can bump as much as you want. You are not the first criticising DAI and will certainly not be the last.

I myself gave up gaming DAI and only every now and then return to these forums to see if there's any positive development, just any, so i might return to DAI again. But untill now, NO!
What-Not-to-Do.jpg

Yea I've been in this boat with Creative Assembly.  The huge programming hurdle that programmable mouse/keyboard is just insurmountable.  I guess we are stuck with a substandard Rift's MMO/ Mortal combat (button mashing), with cool movies. The character graphics are sad for modern game. Nice scenery, love the songs bards sing....music?....banter between companions?...character origin story?....Purpose for building up the Inquisition and the castle? Because the final battle seems to be rushed and pointless (build up).  I kept thinking..."Why didn't I gank this guy 5 lvls ago" They seemed to be wrapped up in toon porn and neglected to weave a good story.  You built up the Mage/Templar war and boom end of that...HHHHerrreesss Corpheous .  Mass Effect syndrome...overthink it and trash a great build up.  This game was made for a playstation and only a playstation...I got a pc to avoid this caveman approach to gaming. So drink your red bull and play Call of Duty don't butcher skill trees, eliminate stats and classes, no companion programming (worth anything), and playstation controls (and EXTREME limitations).

Bugs? Do you guys(Bioware/EA) ever learn from past successes? New is the new buzz word for suck I guess. SWTOR had peeps lined up to playtest it....I know you have the budget for it and if not why not? This buggy mess was released by the Bioware team....pls say it ain't so??? There is a memory leak that rears it ugly head every now and then.  As I say to my kids with a full diaper..."I love you but you stink"....well back to playing SWTOR ...I know you guys can do something right.

After looking at the pathetic lineup that was the 2014 gaming industry, its not hard to see why they released when they did.. GOTY was a shoe-in, and inb4 the christmas sale was over.. Who cares about completing it, when people will buy it.. If its recieved bad, then we'll fix it.. If it wins all the awards, we'll just lean on this, and say people love it..

So, they saved money by not finishing, polishing, or QA the game.. They made more money because it was Christmas.. And there were no AAA rpg's to give the game any pause in the award market.. EA, and a corrupt gaming media, is all that need be mentioned...

Wonder how Divinity:Original Sin would have done if it was also on the consoles.... Clearly, a far superior rpg, in every way, shape, and form!

Sadly after 120hours i still cannot enjoy the tactical combat part, its just jarring and really hard to use, it drags off across the battlefield and i must hit space realign it etc...

I had to lower the difficulty in my game and stopped playing a Dual wielding rogue because of it, its the most unfortunate part of Dragon Age for me personally..

I also feel that the tactical camera in inquisition is flawed for many reasons, particularly its awkwardness of positioning and maneuvering, and like the PC controls in general is an obvious console port attempt. I would advocate it's modification based on player input.
Besides a general modification to maneuvering controls to reflect something closer to the gloriously effective DAO tactical combat, some fixes to implement could be the ability to zoom out farther, and to allow the camera to travel through certain obstacles like trees to improve overall functionality.
While waiting for an update on the PC controls in general, these 2 simple camera changes would make a huge difference in the tactical option.

DA could be played with 1 hand in the past, why remove the option? Or any past option/function?  So many have been removed, its become almost unrecognizable as "Dragon Age".. Progression is often welcome.. But regression, or lessening desired features in an award winning franchise, is just silly, rushed, or lazy.. I dread knowing the reason behind these design decisions!

TLDR:  The controls were much more comfortable, efficient, and just awesome, for the PC, as they were in the previous games..

"Lessening desired features" is a great way to put it. While I personally doubt the reasoning behind it was laziness on bioware's part, I am just as confused by their choices in this regard as most, and is ultimately what prompted me to join the forums.
There is a community outcry for certain features, primarily as this thread suggests, an update to the PC controls which have plagued players and critics of the series from its release.
Just google "Dragon Age Inquisition PC controls" and you will see the torrential flood of complaints.

However, it's important to remember that Bioware has indeed commented on improving the controls, albeit in a general sense, stating:
"After Patch 2 goes out, our next priority is to improve the PC mouse/keyboard controls further. We’re investigating how to expand on PC usability and functionality to address specific requests from the community."

http://blog.bioware....for-dragon-age/
http://forum.bioware...unity-concerns/

This is exciting for PC users, and the purpose of this thread is to do our part as the bioware community by continuing to generate awareness on this topic; communicating specific issues and to offer suggestions on potential improvements.

Any other thoughts?

Just to update, another thread has linked bioware's upcoming plans for patch 5.
http://forum.bioware...currently-beta/

Some of the PC control changes:
"In efforts to support different playstyles, we’ve also included the ability to bind additional mouse buttons, as well as an auto-attack key for single player."

Bam. There it is folks.

Uggh seriously? They should have just released this steaming pile for consoles and not for the PC at all. As it stands it plays like a ****** poor console port; I would have stayed away from it had I known this. Shame on me for buying a BW game without researching it first. I used o trust this company to produce quality games. What happened to you guys?

DAO was made primarily for the PC keyboard and mouse and compatable with the console.

Then Bioware decided to turn their backs on the PC for the console controller market, so with DA2, that's exactly what happened and we remember all the reviews about that!!!

DAI is the same thing, for console controller users. Yet we were told DAI is a PC game written with the PC in mind,, etc, etc, etc. and its the same as DAO, etc, etc, etc.....which couldn't be further from the truth. Bioware lied to all PC gamers for profit, plain and simple.

Even after the upcoming patch 5?, still no optimization for PC keyboard and mouse.......what does this tell us? Bioware has turned their backs on the PC side of gaming for console controller users or they would of had properly optimized keyboard and mouse at launch.

All of us left behind PC users have to buy a controller or play Bioware's games with un-optimized keyboard and mouse.

I think ideally, Bioware would have all PC users go out and buy controllers and not use the keyboard and mouse anymore. Simple as that.

Then Bioware shoud have a deal with those PC users to get a big discount buying controllers to play DAI.

Or there should of been a console and PC keyboard and mouse optimized version of DAI at launch.

I for one, will no longer pre order Bioware's controller dumbed down simplied games, and the Dragon Age series has been hollowed out to a shell of what it was in the beginning. Even on sale, which seems to be the norm for DAI, always on sale......tells you something.

Bioware is already working on a DLC, free, thumbs up to Bioware taking after the Witcher 3.

They will add back some key features that never should of been taken out in the first place, a new DLC here and there and no patches to address the real issues of DAI and for PC users....Patch 6......Patch 7......

I hear what you are saying DragonAddict and agree on some points.
The dev team did promote DAI as a PC game in much the same way they did origins, which was misleading considering the control system is obviously a console port.
Also, the response to fan desire for PC specific control fixes has been very slow and not very well communicated, which was the inspiration for this thread in the first place.
In fact, I think your post is a pretty accurate reflection of the general dissatisfaction that a lot of PC players feel right now towards DAI.

I disagree with you however, when you say that bioware is turning their backs on PC players.

To me, this most recent patch is proof that even though the bioware teams has their work cut out for them, they are making every effort to listen to their fan base, and implement changes in increasingly rapid, and sizeable, stages.
To add the option to re-bind mouse keys and to have an auto attack key are both PC specific requested changes that are being implemented. Sure, there is more that needs to be done, but I have no doubt that bioware is working on solutions to the problems that discontented players have with the game.
Namely the controls.

To add in a patch beta with player testing will not only speed up the process, but allows for collaborative player involvement in the patching process. That's dev love right there.
To respond to specific requests such as storage, face modification, mouse key binding, and auto attack is clear, definitive proof that bioware is listening, and responding to its players' feedback. That's dev love right there

All of this has me convinced that even more changes will be implemented in subsequent patches, and has me excited at the prospect.
PC gamers have not been ignored.
Mislead with pre-launch marketing, without a doubt, but not abandoned.

Don't lose hope my friend.

Bioware says near the end of the article:
"You’ll be able to sign up for the beta program through the Keep in the near future, so stay tuned for more information."

im glad to see theyre atleast speaking about some desired adjustments to PC.. Ill not sit here and jump for joy, until its released, and in working order.. Ive seen too  many games with promises of fixes here, and there, that never come..

But, heres to hoping!  Fingers crossed..

PS: im very confused how youll run a beta program for a single player game, months after weve already bought it... Who is going to apply? I dont think id want to start playing a campaign that was not mine...Not only that, i ve felt like a beta tester for 3months as it is...Why pay to be a beta!?

Well, actually, not every PC user avoids consoles like the plague. Some of us enjoy console games just as much as PC games, thus already have controllers. Just saying.

Some players will want to help with beta testing the patches to get a first look at the changes, and to contribute to the process. If that's not your cup of tea no worries, it will be released in due time.

In the meantime, what sort of changes would you like to see to the PC controls?
