My issues are as thus;

1. Story-wise, it's weak (as opposed to previous titles)
2. Combat is horrible... people say it's built for consoles and as a PS4 owner I can tell you it is crap, probably sparkling compared to PC controls, though.)
3. Agreed about attributes, skills, tactical combat, etc.
4. Empty quests in massive open world environments... I literally spent two hours in certain places, doing things that meant nothing and made me think WTF why am I even here?
5. Patches which are SUPPOSED to fix things, are just making the situation worse in a lot of cases... seriously?

So while I may be seen to complain about lack of brothels, gritty content and unrealistic romance options, I too, know that these issues are miniscule.

Completely agree 100%.

My number one complaint is the lack of information, not a sound for months, people could not play for months and they are off on a well deserved holiday, fair enough understandable..

But are there zero PR people in Bioware? are they all on holiday at once and no one checks whats going on?

Well ok..

They are back now and still no information at all (unless i'm missing something large) i use their forums to get information and give feedback, good and bad, i have no social media at all for a reason, i do not trust them.

I gotta say they (bioware) really brought  a lot on themselves with the lack of info..

Edit

I'd give you a like but well... read my sig..

Okay, so I've been playing Bioware games since Baldur's Gate.  I love messing with stats, building different characters (both in terms of raw mechanics and personality/plot).  I love the fights where every move has to be planned in advance, and where I've had to make a dozen or more attempts before even a Phyrric victory.  I love having an old decision or unexpected plot twist come out of nowhere and hit me like a sledgehammer.  I love being able to do the same (bringing Drizzt to the Amn crypts to fight vampires... then stabbing him in the back once they were almost dead was always a favorite).

I have sunk thousands and thousands of hours into these games.

I'm a casual player.

Not because I don't appreciate the older, more precise mechanics.  Not because I have no ideas for improvement (though I rarely, if ever share them on the forums).  Not because I can't handle or don't want these games to be complicated, robust and improved.

I'm a "casual" player because the only difference as far as I've ever seen between casual and hardcore, in any playerbase, is attitude towards the game and other players.

Your complaints and ideas are not without merit, but your thinly veiled condescension, hair-splitting and offhand dismissal of other players' intelligence and thoughtfulness do you no credit.

Sorry to hear that. Even if I see you misjudging here I won't complain.

Yeah... the "I'm on holiday" excuse doesn't really gel with me anymore. Maybe over the Christmas period, that's understandable.. but it's safe to say that there are people who are/should be working now.

This is nothing new, though...

For example (different games, I know, but same company nevertheless) many people bought the ME trilogy for the PS3... which came out later, as at the time, they had only just ported the original ME to the console. Before that, fans could only play ME2 and eventually, ME3. Anyway, there was some sort of technical issue where some players couldn't successfully port their saves from ME1 to ME2... a patch was created, yet people still were unable to port the game.. Now recently I stumbled onto that EA technical support page, somebody had posted something along the lines of "It's 2015.. still not fixed?"

I suppose, now that the trilogy is old they are hoping to sweep that under the rug. My point is, I hope the same situation does not occur here. At the very least they need to address these patches.. I'm not, in my right mind, expecting them to change the "subjective" aspects of the game, such as combat and gameplay.. but I think it is pretty fair that people are annoyed when bugs and crashes prevent them from playing a game that they paid money for.

Sigh
https://en.wikipedia...iki/Mass_Effect  As of July 5th, 2014, the Mass Effect Series has sold a total of 14 million units.

http://en.wikipedia....elling_PC_games  NWN - 2 million copies. Total.

LMAO. So you compared 3 multi platform games to 1 single platform game? OK.

How about this.

Mass Effect    14 millions / 10 (platforms in total) = ?

NWN    2 millions / 1 = ?

Do the math yourself and choose better example next time.

Yep, that's it right there.  Where you dismiss what I'm saying as "misjudgement" and simultaneously attempt to take the moral high ground by promising not to complain about it?  That's the problem.  Like I said, you make some good points, but statements like this drag your entire argument down into the mud.

It's obvious that you're intelligent and that you have worthwhile contributions to make, but the manner in which you present them will affect the community's (and Bioware's) reception of them, regardless of their objective merit.

Also, I apoligize if my first post came off as hostile.  It's rather early here and I have a natural tendency towards morning venom.

Now why would I wanna do that?

I'd prefer to zero in and pick apart the little things that offend me. Reading and comprehending an entire post that long is just too hard. ;)

Apology accepted, thank you for your understanding.

As for the tone and the rest... Well, I think it is my problem. Nothing comes ever easy, right? I guess I've lived for far too long in a place where hard truths are like everyday. And I'm not sure if I want to leave it behind, as it feels more honest, straightforward or blunt (speaking of communicability). And it's more productive.

You see, it's like skipping Sera garbage talking and getting to a point - what are we doing, where are we doing that and for what purpose. And actually doing things.

You used this example to prove something. To prove that Mass effect caught some bigger attention, probably bigger than NWN since you used it for that example of yours.

But then you provided data for 10 platforms in total for one game and only data for 1 platform for the other game. Data that somehow proved your statement wrong.

Even more, since you have no idea how would 3 Never winter nights games released on all platforms sell, you can't even remotely compare them to give any reasonable example.

TLDR: You proved nothing. Point you were trying to make is irrelevant. Failed example is failed.

I guess the strongest book you've ever read was Amazing Spider Man #4? I liked it too, a great one.

Oh? No.

I've used 'strongest' term as a way to describe the complexity of the concept of the book and the text in it.

If you're having what I'll refer to as a "technical" discussion, where both people are on more or less the same page but need to communicate for the sole purpose of transferring information, then I absolutely agree that clarity soundly trumps the trappings of courtesy.  The issue here is that we have numerous points of view in these forums, not just about the general quality of the game but about what exactly needs to be done to improve it (which should be a goal regardless of how a person feels about the current state of the game).

Obviously you are welcome to voice your opinions however you choose, but if the goal is to rally people and see these changes put into effect, then diplomacy and persuasion are in order.  Clarity must still be a goal of course, but without an effort to make people comfortable with and sympathetic towards your position, posts like this (and not just yours mind you) wind up serving little purpose except to vent frustration.

This is something I have to deal with often when I talk to my brother.  He's a brilliant, accomplished man (including degrees in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, as well as Chinese Language and East Asian studies) but he simply does not see the point in being more polite than is absolutely necessary.  Facts and technicalities are his milieu, which has slowed his career at times.  It can also make it difficult to converse with him even in a purely factual context.

Of course, if I've misunderstood your goal then I suppose this is all moot.  Also I really hope my brother doesn't read this.

I blame the Matriarchy for flooding the media with unrealistic images of male body image crammed into skin-tight, revealing clothing. The entire collection of mass media is so anti-minist.

I am not going to get dragged into your silly games, sorry.

@OP

Sure, if this was Bioware's first attempt at building an RPG game. But it isn't.

Producing a defective product is NOT art. Besides, the art that may be there is lost when you paint your masterpiece on a piece of cardboard using poor quality paints.

Van Gogh's art survive because it is QUALITY. Something that is very lacking in DAI. Quality that SHOULD have been there, but isn't! Yes, this game had all the potential to be a masterpiece in its own time, but the artist neglected its quality.

Hence, our anger, you see?
