See, you fail to grasp it.
Because the correct use of your example would be like this:
Players that understand that strength is necessary and important to all classes, but should be working differently for those classes. Casuals can not compute this.
I perfectly grasp this, I just choose not to care about it much, it's not something that affects the game for me, it's not a matter of intelligence it's a matter of how much weight you put on certain things. Some people find other aspects of the game more interesting.
I don't find any interest in most old school RPG "tactics" because for the most part I don't see them as being interesting and what DAO had was not tactics but AI tuning. The stat thing is a set of arbitrary rules, I'm ok if they exist, I'm ok if they don't. When they exist it's one type of game, when they don't it's another and that's it.
DAI had an opportunity to actually bring tactics in the game, but butchered AI and dysfunctional tac cam made short work of that, I do feel disappointed, but at the end of the day it doesn't prevents me from applying my own tactics in real time mode, so there is that. As long as I like some aspect of the game and want to play it I choose to work with what I'm given.
