What exactly is the point of sealing the darkspawn tunnel in Valammar?

Or actually, what is the point of being allowed into Valammar before "Well, ****" at all?

 

You go there to deal with the Carta Leader, seal the tunnel, open the vault, blah blah, and surprise, come back later with Bianca and the exact same enemies have respawned, the hurlocks are there, even the damn Carta Leader it was so important to take out has respawned. Why? And what's the point of sealing a tunnel that has no function?

Yeah, it was weird that I cleared the place once and then had to return there and clear it again :D

 

I think here it was just a gameplay mechanic, because if you don't seal these tunnels, more darkspawn will spawn while you are in the dungeon.

I like that we're allowed in, but I dislike that the things we do there get undone.

Going there earlier should result in there not being Darkspawn there when you come back later.

Agreed. I found this odd as well. I just hand waved it as Carta stragglers going back in, and Darkspawn crawling back into the vault through unseen tunnels. I don't think the darkspawn on the outside cliff area near the tunnel respawn.

 

It was kind of fun hitting the Carta from the vault side that time though.

It's the same deal with Storm Coast and "Keeping the Darkspawn Down." Darkspawn continue to respawn there in the same spots even after you seal those areas.

Mind you, I'm perfectly okay with this. The game already suffers from an accute case of diminishing returns when it comes to respawns. For mat farming purposes or just for the sake of getting into fights. Given a choice between the two, I choose "more things to fight" over "logic."

I knew that place would be a problem when I told Dorian to seal the tunnel and he did his thing and sealed it with some measly BOARDS. Like that would keep darkspawn out.  :blink:  :lol:  :P

It had about as much point as nearly any other side quest in the game which is to say...none.

It was REALLY disappointing. I thought we were going into the deep roads. Nope, another fetch quest. At least this one had some dialogue but it was a really crappy design.

I was totally psyched to go to the deep roads again. Denied.
