Well your speed running doesn't get you ahead by much. I'm rank 44 and I open every room possible 600hrs played and atleast 200 of that is singleplayer.
Why we skip doors....the definitive truth

ahh thanks for the pointers...I Def don't mean to come off as greater then anyone I am not the best player by far in this game ..just a great strategistMedallian you are correct with your statement that going for chest may not be the most efficient way of doing it pass a certain level (Gear + promotion). However it is worded in aggressive way (My way or the highway)
Couple of points:
1. A new player does not have your promotion level and gear therefore he can't speed run effectively. In this case playing the game, opening chests on routine is probably a more efficient way. (Until you get strong enough and master your build)
2. Fun factor, not everyone cares about being on the leaderboard. Some people like to play the game in a more casual way, even on perilous.
2. People are hostile towards you because you sound like a show off. (Hey look at me I'm the best in this game, you guys should all do what I do) This might not be intentional but it comes off like that in most of your post. It makes you sound rude and unprofessional.
3. When you argue something don't ever use yourself as the main argument. (It works because check me out on leaderboard and my promotions = im awesome)

The gaps bellow rank 20 are barely notable. .. when you get to rank 20 or more the leaps are 10 and 20 points per rank or so and even more further up... while that is extremely impressive the real bid and fight for rank at the moment is top 20 in my opinionWell your speed running doesn't get you ahead by much. I'm rank 44 and I open every room possible 600hrs played and atleast 200 of that is singleplayer.

The first level of Orleaseanisan Chateau sometimes has a free chest room. There is a bed in that room. I always take a few minutes to jump on that bed before proceeding. I also stop to look at all of the paintings and sample the cheese plate someone left for me on level three.
Did you know there was a Korgan (ME3) head on the wall in one of those rooms? There is an amazing amount of beauty and detail in this game if you take your time to look for it. Look up at the sky, see the detail in the flowers.
I do think an occasional speed run can be fun, but I think you are missing out on a lot if that is all you do.

I think he's past that part. It's now a bit of an addiction. If he could do nothing but just mash the "x" button on his controller for max efficiency at raising his name up on the leaderboards, he would do so. He would then proceed to invite others into a damp group about his knowledge about doing nothing but mashing the "x" button to be top 100 leaders.

On a secondary note this threads gotten way off topic it's more about me and people attacking me then the actual topic so can we keep the comments limited to the topic at hand
Clearly, you've chosen not to embrace self-awareness as a life skill.

Ok I agree with what your saying wholly but there's a vote to kick button and you can leave and find another game....so really the complaining is pointless ...if you have problems finding people use the forum to find like minded people as I have done and build a network of like minded friends ...
Yep, I think we're in agreement on what the solution is. I did post this, after all: "So really, the only viable answer remains to play with people who share your playstyle and leave lobbies that don't."
We just disagree on what is the most fun way to play. I want, and partially need, every bit of loot I can get my hands on, plus I play exclusively pugs, which is considerably less favourable to very organised and efficient play. But then again, I only have one purple weapon of any decent level, and have only spent roughly 220k on chests, so our starting points are vastly different.

Naturally, we all love to level up our prestige and get nice new epics, but I play for fun. I'm somewhat addicted to DAMP the way I was once addicted to WOW battlegrounds. I never cared about being in the top percentile because I know there's always going to be a certain group of no-lifers who just have entirely too much time to spend on gaming. I have a wife and child, a stressful job, and as much as I love my addiction, I have to be a functioning gameaholic. The joy in this game comes not only from running with a geared, fast-clearing group, but also from the laughs both at my own and others' expense, when we get beat down by a bunch of archers, or the horror rains green goo of death down on the lone treasure room pilferer. There's a much larger picture here, then just being leet sauce.

Medallian I understand where you're coming from, I too put a lot of time in this game, although not as much as you.
However the amount of times you've promoted factors into almost everything
A person who's promoted over a 100 times is always going to look better at the game then someone whos promoted 30 times
doesn't mean they are better, just means they have more free time and dedicated to mindless grinding over and over again.
a person one shotting things with long shot doesn't exactly take much skill.
and im not saying thats bad to grind like this, i do it too sometimes, but the amount of promotions or how high your rank is doesn't really mean anything else.
Also I've started to question the longevity of this game, you say you've put over 1200 into multiplayer? I've put over 800 and its certainly getting to me. I'm playing less and less each day and losing interest fast.
You certainly have to ask what the point of it all is with the severe lack of the content we're getting?
getting 200+ promotions willpower seems kinda pointless if we're just playing the same maps over and over again, I mean you could get that but what would be the point when everyone else has already quit over boredom, I see the game declining just based off my friends list, some have moved one, some still play just a little less.
i too am on xb1 and notice how even the top 100 you see players just outright quiting or dropping off
And with more and more new releases for games coming up, you have to ask yourself is it worth it?

Personally, I skip doors only because I don't think they're fun. I don't smash pots because I don't think it's fun.
There's more than enough loot and gold that comes into a player's possession through minimal playtime without having to do doors/pots and do just fine in Perilous...so why get more gear/gold if one is doing fine in Perilous? (rhetorical question)
I want to be engaged in meaningful challenging combat at all times. If the doors provided bigger challenges, it would stimulate me enough to encourage the whole team to keep hitting those doors.
Currently, we open doors and some Arcane Horror or Revenant appear which are joke after facing them many times...

Side question: How do you know how much time you've played (on consoles). Is there a stat somewhere that I'm not seeing (?)
Thanks.

I would agree with this 100%....IF (please note the big IF) it didn't take so damn long to get into a lobby to begin with. The fact is, if you leave a lobby you will likely go through a minimum of three "lost connection with server", failed host migrations, empty lobbies, etc.

I feel you I have a wife and kids as well... and I don't spend all my time in game as I go to school full time.....^^ I don't consider myself a no lifer though because I earned the free time I had.....I bleed for it...and I have a very balanced life...I just choice to play this game ..like you I am addicted to damp lol with 2 hours or less in sp .... yeah def addicted lol.. but I can relate..I have many laughs and fun while doing speed runs..hit me up if your on we can laugh and play together ...Naturally, we all love to level up our prestige and get nice new epics, but I play for fun.
