Tired of this topic but unwilling to concede. I've been playing as long as most anyone else and I still see no reason to speed run. If you are chasing the scoreboard or looking to brag about your stats, then I can sorta understand. Do your thing. For most of us, gear is the reason we play and getting gear requires gold. Gold comes from chests and clay pots. Nuff saidOk so all I read is why do you skip doors why not get the chests or pots... are they noob or is there some pro tip secret...
I'd like to say I'm the father of the speed run (at lest on the xbox1) and the super speed run...oh yes there's a speed faster then fast.....
There are many reasons why speed runs are far better .. in fact getting doors and chests are counter productive and actually have a negative effect... let's go over these reasons and the logic behind them...
Exp and gold per hour...this has been the formula of every rpg I could think of were there has been a need to grind...you want the maximum gold and exp per hour to gross the largest gain....

Continued .. (posted before I could finish lol)
The math behind it... if you run 2 games an hour and gross 2200...1100 a game... you may feel that good but it's far better to gain 300 to 500 per game and run 6 games per hour that's 1800 to 300 an hour it basiclly a rages out the diffrance being the high increase in exp.
Every second matters..never waste time.... soo you run through a game and you spend 2-5 minutes after talking getting chests and setting skills...no biggy....wrong...let's look at the math... if you run 10 games at 6 games an hour that's about an hour and a half of run time...and 3-5 minutes you can go ahead and add 30 to 50 minutes of dead wasted time you just almost doubled your run time ... from hour and a half too two hours or more.....the basic premise is making the most efficient use of your time for the most gain
To hell with math. This is completely boring. DAMP is already a grind, I've no interest in making it a total grind. Your statement about why it's "better" to do it this way is flawed; because "better" can mean different things to different people. You might be interested in gold and exp per hour, whereas I might be interested in a little side-detour now and again.
Neither way is correct, it's a personal preference.

Speed running is great for maximum efficiency, fine we get that.
However may of us and certainly the great horde out there not on BSN generally play for fun. We don't really care about what our Prestige number is or where on the Leaderboard we sit.
I've said it twice and I'll say it again; this is a dungeon crawler. Keyword: Crawler. I'm not here for kills or promotions. I want loot. ALL of it. Every 11 gold pot. Every poor little nug who magically appears in my face will explode into loot. Glorious gold.
If you don't want to play the game that way, cool. But, MY game? My rules. If I'm hosting, I'm stopping for every hidden door I know about. I will drop the game, if you drop into it and proceed to speed run through it.
This and this. Personal preferences.
It is a "game" afterall. Sometimes when you take the small aspects out of it that other people find enjoyable, it's no longer fun, and therefore, nobody want's to play with you anymore... ![]()

Thanks.

I would agree with this 100%....IF (please note the big IF) it didn't take so damn long to get into a lobby to begin with. The fact is, if you leave a lobby you will likely go through a minimum of three "lost connection with server", failed host migrations, empty lobbies, etc.

you really won't see anything over item lvl 16 from the boxes your going g to get all your stuff from the store it's completly pointless to get chests... I mean there's a chance for a ring or belts they max out at 15 but then chance is considerably low when compared to store chest that and the fact that you can avrage the same or more gold doing speed runs and triple the exp...well its not hard...and if your new to the game need gear..hit me up and I'll play with you and we can grind and we can get you gold and I'm happy to explain in and outs of theories...but any one who's speed runs with me can see a dramatic differences ... and I invite you to come along...I'm not here to bash or anything but to answer the question pissed on many threads why do you speed run.... and I'll be happy to give you first hand experience ^^I personally had an issue with opening doors because I just wanted to finish the zones and maps as fast as possible, but then again i could be playing with people who are new to the game and need as much gear/loot they can get their hands on. Not everyone has been gifted by the rng gods with a sulevin or a griffin. After all, this is a co op game, and I find when you do open doors players seem to follow your lead much easier. 99% of the stuff you get in those chests aren't high level stuff but I did get a rare lady jocaste dagger.it's more about what the group wants rather than what your selfish speedrun says. Of course if you don't like helping others and just want to make it to the next zone perhaps you can just put the match in private next time and solo the whole map yourself?

The reason for this, is because people believe that if you mention it, it because you actually care where on the leader boards you are. There are millions of players not even on the board, for most they could never get high on it if they tried, especially with RNG being as it is. The top 20 on most games is usually populated by the people who spent more time or money playing than most, which wether through jealousy or otherwise leads a lot of people into having a negative view on board leaders. People assume they fit the stereotype of a fat lazy slob with no job, no girlfriend or children, which furthers the hate.
Its a shame, as quite a few people at the top have full healthy happy lives, they are hard working passionate individuals who dont deserve the negativity at all, though there are quite a few who do.
One things for sure though, we are wrong to be so judgemental. Society in general can be pretty nasty when it comes to stereotypes.
As it stands, I personally would never post anything too positive about myself, even if I was the best player ever, simply because I dont want people to think that I am egotistical.

Ok the point I'm making is you get more or the same amount of gold doing speed runs and lvl in and promoting ups stats ..making for faster runs faster runs means more completions per hour meaning more gold it's all related my friend.... if your after gear to do better it's not the way with rng you can get good gear spending 300 or get nothing haven spent over a million like me...it's taken me alot of gold and time to get my stuff and I still don't have every thing like some of my friends who have played not even half the time ...so it's more advantages to go for promotions ..besides gear gas for the most part fixxed stats or a Maxx out point with grips and stuff...promotions seem...for now to have no limit ... there for promotions equate to more then gear in the long run.Tired of this topic but unwilling to concede. I see your point..but dropping my stats or rank was just to be like hey look I got some time in the game...maybe I might have a little more insight on things with such high stats... but I do see how ppl can take it wrong but I hope my actions prove other wise...judge me not on my words but actions...all I have done was try to help this community in a positive way and other players..... if I come off a bit harsh I do not mean to...Thanks for the tips. Nobody warms to anyone that actually says they are a high rank, even when honestly mentioned with no ego whatsoever. It was my immediate initial reaction to dislike you and assume you were egotistical. I apologise for this, its judgemental and not necessarily correct. If I posted on any game forum and just dropped being a high rank in somewhere, I would most likely get ripped to shreds for it.

I don't mind you suggesting speed runs for XP per hour but don't lie about gold per hour. It's not even close to true. People act like it takes all day to clear these rooms. All it takes is one Hidden Blades and the room is clear. You tell people, "Play with me. I'll show you." I can say the same, "Play with me and all you need to do is unlock that door and go on your merry way. I got this."

And why is that? Why are other people enjoying this type of play? Because you're like-minded.
That boils down to the essence of my argument here, there is no right or wrong way to play. In opposition to your team of pugs is a team of looters, guaranteed. And believe me, they're having just as much fun without your speedrun. I don't hate you for your videogame play preference, and I think the hate on this thread is a little strong over such a trivial matter. But I do think this is the age-old "my way is better" argument. It's just not. Your way might be more efficient to your end-goal, but has no true claim over the community as a whole. If people want to pug, let them pug. If they want to loot, let them loot.
We're all going the same direction. Which is nowhere, by the way ![]()

I'm not new at all to this game, I'm just speaking from experience and group play dynamics from a varied amount of skill/ experience levels that are found in public games is that there are quite a bit of people who may have the exploration mindset or may not have the same mindset of speedrunning rather they want to open all doors and horde. I was there too in the beginning, and if they do want to explore I'm fine with that, if the majority just wants to finish it fast than I'm ok with it too. 15 was the highest level dagger I ever found in a map chest but some kid may never have gotten it from a store chest. I wouldn't want to be the jerk that ruined the experience by skipping doors if the group consensus said so.
