Energy Barrage question

Ok I'm not sure if this has been talked about yet. I couldn't find any other threads on it, so I'll just ask...

 

If I use energy barrage with the upgrade the give a -2% elemental type resistance effect on each hit, and the enemy such as Demon Commander doesn't have any resistance to that element, does it then just give him a negative resistance so he would be vulnerable to that element? so if I used another energy barrage or other same elemental type attacks would they do more damage then?

 

Also how long does the -2% effect last? or is there no time limit?

I don't know how long the -2% lasts, but it is per hit. And since there's 12 hits, I believe that amounts to a full -24% reduction in resistance. I don't know how long it lasts, but I think it's only for a few seconds. I would see no reason why this shouldn't stack. But like I said, the effect probably goes away before it would be even useful to stack it (unless you have an Ele's flashpoint).

 

The better question is: which kit/character are you using this with? Is it the elementalist? the Keeper?

 

if playing as an elementalist, you're much better off using this in conjunction with a chaotic fire mine. Obtain chaotic focus, cast barrier on yourself, immediately throw a fire mine down, and then cast barrage. The hits should increase vulnerability long enough for the mine to detonate.

 

If playing as a keeper, use in conjunction with static cage. Cast the static cage (fully upgraded), then immediately cast energy barrage followed by something like chain lightning.

As for who I planned on using it with that would be my Necromancer. I don't plan on using it with Keeper or Elementalist. I guess I'll just have to do some testing with it then. I was just hoping someone already knew how it worked and how long it lasted.

Because the tooltip doesn't define exactly how long this effect lasts, it's pretty much a guess. I would anticipate using it as a combo or a detonator and try ensuring that you have a powerful follow-up spell as quickly as possible. I think with the necro, that this would best be used in combo with walking bomb, which will deal 200% damage to the target for 10 seconds.
