The Dragon Age series is one of the best gaming franchises I have ever had the privilege to play. Each of the Dragon Age stories from Origins to Inquisition has also been a very personal experience for me. Playing from the perspectives of the Warden (Orlesian Warden-Commander), Hawke and the Inquisitor lead to discover a lot about the fictional universe that made it feel so alive. Some people have their own loves and hates for Dragon Age, I believe some people are right to voice a displeasure they have with the games while some just live to be miserable and are dedicated make others not enjoy what they love. Never give attention to these peons the best you can.

My "preferred" Warden is Duran Aeducan. I have always preferred humans in Origins but the Noble Aeducan background is among my favourite involving family betrayal and being framed. It provides a connection to Orzammar falling apart after the king passes away and infighting over the Dwarven crown takes place. My warden had no romantic interests among his companions, only being attracted to female dwarves and siring a son with Mardy, naming him after Duncan. Believing my Warden to be an honourable Dwarf while doing what is necessary in order to defeat the Darkspawn such as having Alistair exiled and letting Loghain redeem himself by slaying the Arch-Demon, including abandoning Amaranthine to save the Keep and making a deal with the Architect, believing this deal could relieve darkspawn stress off Orzammar. My warden still served as Warden-Commander.

Hawke's story is a very personal one due to high level of emotion throughout. Now, people had strong feelings to this game due to its' rather short development time, add that with the one city location and Hawke not having as much as an impact like the Warden had in Ferelden. I look at it as events having an impact of the character, as it felt more about the player expressing themelves through the defined personality choice Hawke had. I, despite the game for its many flaws still enjoyed the game and the personal aspect with Hawke, their family and companions find it to be the most emotional game.

To describe my idea of Hawke; he was an idealist, he loved his family a great deal and Merrill, living out Malcolm's wish of Hawke looking after the family. Hawke wanted to help people in any way he could, even if it turned out not how he wanted it to. He sympathized with Mage struggle, but for the most part supported the templars, believing the Circle was the best place for mages to be safe as a life on run from templars is not a good one. He did shamefully side with the Templars in annuling the circle despite believing Anders solely responsible for Kirkwall's destruction as Hawke saw a mage uprising would have a terrible affect on innocents, including mages.

For my Inquisitor, he is a former Qunari mercenary deep in belief of the Maker and the Chantry. Acting on tradition whenever he can and finding a purpose with Cassandra. I still need to complete his story to fully figure out how I will perceive him.

All three games are great. They all have their flaws but they are still fun in their own way

All three games have their positives, it's good you were able to see that OP. Seems too few can see past "Well, this game was better than that game, so that game automatically is trash". I'm one of the ones who was more invested with the Warden and the Inquisitor than Hawke, but that doesn't mean that 2 doesn't have its place in the Dragon Age universe

Me too, OP. I ended up giving a wishy-washy equivocal response to every 'which game to you like better?' thread after DA2 came out, and I find myself doing it again.

I enjoyed DA2.  Could have been better with longer production time, but it was different, and I was okay with that.  It's what I enjoy about the DA series...  it's not centered around one single hero like Mass Effect, so the developers are free to try new things and I was fine with the concept of staying in one city and trying to "make it".  I also preferred the quests in DA2 where people approached you for help with their real problems and not collecting herbs or doing menial run-arounds.

I remember there was a thread about how these sort of games always put you as THE ONE, the ultimate hero, the person who can do anything to save the world.  Hawke wasn't like that, and he couldn't always influence everything around him.  He was a refugee like thousands of others, but worked his way up through determination, luck, and the right connections.  And of course the family name didn't hurt either.

I always wonder what the game would have been, if they didn't had to rush through the act 3.

All three games are deformed abortions. Origins was playable, DA2 barely, DAI is worse than watching our parents having sex bathed in excrements vomiting in dead rotten puppies

Well you had quite a good start but tried way to hard in the second part to make it believeable. However you used a wide and imaginative range of vocabulary unlike  the "OMG worst Bioware game ever" crowd. Therefore I'll give your trolling attempt a generous 3/10.

On topic: I too happen to enjoy all three games.

Same here. I love all 3 games even with their flaws, and I love how the plot for the universe is expanding. Can't wait for the following games.

I like all 3, as well. I don't get too caught up in game-play differences. I can game about any system you want to make. I'm just here for the entertainment, boss.

I hated 2 but the dlc really enhanced it. I really liked legacy and I loved the boss fight on mark of the assassin.

I like inquisition but it can be quite boring to me at times. I hope the dlc really enhance it like they did 2.

Op you wrote something about DAO and the warden and about Hawke, but you wrote only 2 lines for the Inquisitor are you sure that you have enjoyed the bland Inquisitor? Your subconscious speak for you.

Oh come on. "I still need to complete his story to fully figure out how I will perceive him." The last line in the OP. There's your answer.

All 3 games as well here, with Origins being my favorite   My ranking would be like this:

1: Origins, but the balance in combat was all over the place

2: Inquisition, but I dislike the PC controls, lack of spells, no customizable tactics, overzealous respawning and not enough character build (ability points etc.)

3: DA2, but I dislike the lack of exploration and the never ending horde of bandits

Don't get me wrong: I might have criticism, but I still think all 3 games are amazing with engaging stories, brilliantly designed companions, music I can listen to for hours and generally just the magic Bioware can pour into a game, love them <3

What I posted in another thread about the three:

Don't get me wrong, I loved Origins, I really did.  But there is just something from a game playing perspective about not having to cringe every time you cast certain spells because there is a better than average chance they may well cause an immediate crash.  Or just becoming progressively unplayable the longer  you play it without restarting it completely.  Actually, it rather amuses me that people screaming how much better Origins was never seem to remember the problems it definitely did have.  Said problems did not, mind you, make it unenjoyable.  Something I wish people would keep in mind when whining about Inquisition.

Also, I never hated DA2.  It took me a bit of getting used to because it was a different style, but it was a different game, so big whoop.  Yeah, they reused areas, but they redid the interior each time.  It wasn't like it was the SAME.  Still, I at least get that gripe, even if it was overblown even more than the recent historic blizzard to hit New York City.  In fact, I'd say DA2 had a far superior story to tell than DAO, imho.

All of the above just to say that I cannot rank them against each other because they are all great in their own way, but also have their own little weaknesses.  None of which make any game unenjoyable.  So, from a nostalgia POV, I would probably say Origins, but if I have to be really honest, it's gotta be...

DAO = DA2 = DAI

Same for me OP. I love all three games. Just like I love all three Mass Effect games.

Each of flaws but I look past that because of all the enjoyment I get while playing. In fact before doing my second play through of DAI, I replayed DAO and DA2 and put those decisions as my current world status. I'll likely replay the entire DAO and DA2 again before doing a third DAI play through.

I also like all three games. This is the only game series where I have been interested in product that is not the games; seen the animated film, read some of the books, have the comics on a need to get list.

The stories, more importantly the characters are the hooks for me. I am a huge fan of many of the companions. It's really hard to pick a favorite as they are all performed so well.
