Oh I just got my first one of those yesterday, shame I already did that quest, must remember that next time lol

Hehe, you put a nuggalope and a halla side-by-side, and you ask yourself, 'okay who would win a race...?' Answers is obvious right? And then you outrun the halla

I'm glad I completed the Hinterlands before moving on to other areas. Doing the Fallow Mire without being overleveled would've been annoying.

I found the Hinterlands extremely tedious and boring. But after I saw the rest of the open world areas I learned to appreciate them more.

I absolutely despise those lyrium smuggler pricks, who always seem to ambush you in the middle of a bear fight, but I actually like the place.

When I was doing the bear claws quest (because my inquisitor found a scrap of paper saying bear claw collecting is profitable, so *ding*, into the quest log it goes of course) I was being ambushed by bears while fighting bears. I think I was fighting four at a time, at one point. I could bearly believe it.

Actually I have given in a few times and advanced the story a bit, but I am soon compelled to return and slog through a few more Hinterlands quests. I can't help myself. Is every wilderness area like this?

Power to you. Hinterlands is probably my favorite area.

Among the prettier ones, too. Only Emerald Graves can compete with it in terms of beauty, IMHO.

I actually thought the Exalted Plains was worse than the Hinterlands for fetch quests.

By the end of it, I had about 30+ map markers on my screen...and ALL of them were fetch quests.

Well, then only do the fetch quests the Dalish give you, lethallan...

Heh I WISH the Citadel was like this. Even ME1 Citadel doesn't compare to the stuff to do in the Hinterlands. The Hinterlands would be like having an entire ward arm of the Citadel open to explore.

Stop reminding me...

I wanted an ENTIRE WARD opened on the Citadel ever since. And we actually got the biggest piece of the Citadel in ME1. All went smaller since.

I want the ENTIRE STATION modelled in ME4! Imagine the awesomeness!

Or at least a station similar in scope and purpose, considering how Citadel ended up during ME3's ending.

I would do more of the Dalish quests because Dalish pride and all that, but I can't progress in them very much because GODDAMNIT GOLDEN HALLA STOP GETTING STUCK IN THE BLOODY CLIFFS GO WHERE I TELL YOU TO GO I'M GOING TO SKIN YOU AND TURN YOU INTO A PAIR OF NICE -

Uh, I mean, hold on, Keeper, I think I frightened her. I'll get back to you I swear.

The hinterlands is so boring. Honestly most of the regions are boring and not memorable. The fallow mire, storm coast, exalted plains, forbidden oasis.. All so boring.. All so poorly made.

Twice have I completed the quest.

Take Sera in your party (or pretty much any Rogue with Stealth, but Sera also has Flask of Lightning, if her specialization is specced hard), stealth, walk up to the Golden Halla (your party should remain safely out of spooking range), stand on the OPPOSITE side than you want her to go (she'll run AWAY from you) and deactivate Stealth. If you need to change direction she's going before Stealth cools down, break a Flask of Lightning - if upgraded, she will move a hundred times slower than usual, while your Rogue will move at full speed, easily catching up.

When the Halla is at the rocks surrounding the Dalish camp, the quest should update, telling you to go speak to the Halla herder.

I did just that with my Rogue Inky (Arianne, a Hunter of clan Lavellan - fittingly, she has Ghilan'nain's Vallaslin...) and it worked flawlessly. On my second playthrough, I played as a First, so I just used Sera, as she was pretty much the mirror of Arianne, even on that second playthrough.

I hope I helped, lethallan.

(Also, I recall that the Elven lass in your avatar's a Mage, oh clever me...)

^ Better than my technique, I had the bright idea to try and intercept her with Fade Step whenever she got too far ahead or veered off in the wrong direction.

Might have worked before I upgraded it, but I ended up freezing her solid, and Varric then proceeded to fire an explosive shot and blow her up.

...guddamnit.

Hehe, just strangle Varric for that, kick his butt, send him back to camp, and tell him to fetch Sera :D

Hinterlands is pretty nice. Hissing Wastes can bite me though. They could have conveyed "vast desolation" without making it necessary to ride for 5 minutes between actual things. There's not even loot in all those empty spaces That's time I could have spent questing and having fun.

I'd give this a like, but I've filled my quota for the day. That's just... (sorry). It's also why I'll never upgrade Archer's Lance for Varric. He doesn't seem to discriminate with his targets.

I just herded her on horseback... I thought that was the idea.

I like the hinterlands, myself. Its probably third after Emerald Graves and the Hissing Wastes.

Do not like Exalted Plains.

That's funny. I was begging to run out of Hinterland and the moment I got 4 powers, I did just that.

I've down the halla quest several times and all I had to do was follow it at a brief distance, it ran straight for the camp, so I'm extremely confused by all these posts and also very sorry for y'all.

It was fairly straight-forward once you thought it out, really.

And while Snook's Fade Step strategy is pretty viable, one day, we just all realize that we have to bow down to our Rogue overlords...
