I'm actually okay with players playing Threatening with lvl 1's. If they can't contribute I ensure I don't play the next match with them by leaving the lobby.

However, those who join a Threatening, or higher, match and go afk? Those people can take a giant leap in a very cold, deep lake. While wearing their armor.

Amen to that.

I've played hundreds of public matches on PC and never met a single leecher. Most of those afkers are probably people who either couldn't connect to the game or got stuck upon connecting/moving to the next zone.

Here's a story of a level 1 I had in group couple weeks ago.

Dude was a level 1 Templar.. Look at the abilities Templar get at lvl 1. Templar doesn't even have a damaging ability at that level.

<snip>

I can actually solo routine at level 1 templar with caliban and shield wall and holding my own in threatening at level 1 with an average team (ie I'm not needing to carry) is quite easy. by the time I've levelled enough in routine to not get insta-kicked in threatening (8ish) I can do okay in perilous (presuming it's not a completely low prestige group), sure it's kinda jerkish to try and skip a few routine runs for one threatening but sometimes I just want to get into perilous asap. I just skip threatening pugs entirely now with her as it's not worth the trouble getting kicked by low prestige new guys every second. threatening groups with high prestige folks generally don't kick since they assume I've got okay gear to be pulling a level 1 there. quite often if I don't managed to get kicked in threatening (like 1 vote away) and we go in, I end up scoring higher than the higher level people there and getting most of the kills and if there is a wipe, it's down to the others not pulling their weight.

now if it was something glassy like an assassin, archer or katari, the sort of class that you have a hard time solo'ing routine at level 1 regardless of gear and promotions, then fair enough for kicking. by the time I've got all my abilities with assassin and archer to solo routine though, threatening is easy mode and I might as well be playing perilous.

usually I be nice about this and start my own threatening room and let people join as they want but whenever I start a room it takes a long time to get people to join, regardless of my level. dunno if that's my connection (which is pretty good) or just some matchmaking thing putting me low on the list. I notice that if I solo on public, I usually only get people joining at zone 5 (later zones bump you up on the priority?)

that said, I wouldn't mind options you propose. I think server browser as well as seeing what gear others have equipped would help a lot here.

should also be a timeout kick for afk'ers, which is more of a problem in perilous. (usually see two friends taking turns doing afking not sure what's going on here because they are never strong enough individually to solo it)

Indeed. Nothing better then to open the door to next stage and see that it didn't load for you only.

Tired of level 1's joining threatening+ matches to leach exp. Don't care how good your gear is or how leet you are. Most people I've seen do this end up dead and slowing down the group, contributing nothing. If you can't be bothered to run a routine match or two to get some abilities. I can't be bothered carrying you. I'd rather help new players in crappy gear. And the afks that join and just stand there. I vote to kick these people but not everyone else does so I end up stuck with them.

I'd like to see more features when creating lobbies. A block feature that would prevent people on your block list from joining games you created and an option to set min level when creating games would be nice. Also a feature allowing leaders to post text in lobby. For instance, If I'm doing speed runs I can type that in lobby description. So people can see lobby description and decide if that's the type of run they want to join.

I usually create lobbies and start up on my own, leaving it public for people to join for faster runs. All I ask is you be able to carry your own weight.

This will never happen because there are going to be level 1 players who are stronger than you. they built up their constitution, willpower and cunning. You need to suck it up, be a good person and treat people the way you want to be treated. Trust me after you level up enough you're going to want to play on perilous too.

Well, I reckon I was kicked once from your silver lobby with lvl 1 archer. Sorry about that, did not want to cause no trouble. Next time, I'll quit on my own, please be assured. I found another lobby though right away and did pretty well. I think came in second with full extraction there.

The main problem is that if I play on bronze, I end up basically soloing and killing everything and this is not fun for me.

I do this only with mages, archer/hunter, legionnaire or templar as I have decent equipment on these characters. All the rest go through bronze drillings to lvls 6-8. Even though I once ended up in a bronze game having 80+ kills with lvl 1 alchemist.

I don't have many promotions, so it is all equipment.

I wish they would fix the Push to Talk on the PC, I use Ventrillo to speak with my friends while playing DAMP, and it often opens up for DAMP talk even though they are bound to seperate buttons.

My big gripe about lobbies is not being able to view equipment and/or prestige level. I see no reason why a lvl 1 with crap gear should not be booted from a threatening lobby.

Just my two cents.

Threatening with a level 1 is pretty easy even with moderate gear. Perilous, not so much.

If you are playing Perilous, I could see calling people leechers for bringing in a level 1, but not Threatening.

Some of us don't want to take several weeks to level up a single character.

Don't be so quick to judge players. If they joined with a level 1 and know they can handle it, let them.

How about see how well they perform before deciding to kick them?

When I join a Threatening lobby with a lvl 1 I just bail out and try another search. I am not going to possibly waste my time since I have no idea how geared or skilled is the person.

On the other hand if someone switches to a lvl 1 for the next operation I am more than open to see how that will work. Just had this happening last night, after a flawless Threatening with a PUG someone switched to a lvl 1 legionnaire and it went as flawlessly for the next runs. Kuddos to this PUG by the way, didn't have such a good time in a while.

I would sort of like a system similar to what ME3MP ended up with.

Right now, I find myself sometimes getting stuck in lobbies where everyone else is ready, but one person won't ready up. They aren't responding on mic and you sit there for several minutes, hoping they'll ready up because the rest of the room looks like a good mix. Or you put a kick vote on them and wait to see if the other two do the same. Either the person finally readies up, you successfully kick them and start the match three-man, or you end up leaving in frustration to find another lobby.

In ME3MP, they eventually refined things down to where if three of the four people readied up, a countdown timer started. Once the countdown ended, the match started - regardless of what the holdout was doing in the lobby. If you were worried about dragging dead weight because of someone AFK getting into a match that way, you didn't have to worry... an in-game auto-kick feature existed whereby if they did nothing (no movement, no powers used, etc) for a set amount of time, the game would boot them and open the spot for someone else to join mid-match.

I would like this back, please. Overall, it worked very well.

On that note, it would be super nice if people would leave a PUG lobby if they want to sit there and go extended store-shopping/armor and weapon crafting/peruse their inventory for salvaging/poke through their prestige to change banners and portraits and titles and whatever, etc. I understand needing time to select powers after leveling up or maybe you're switching your potion assignments/weapons and armor around. That's fine. That also probably shouldn't take more than a few minutes, either. When I can hear the sound effect of repeated chest-buying, armor/weapon crafting, or item salvaging going on while the three of us sit there with our **** in our hands waiting to go, I start becoming a cranky old dragon.

Leechers are annoying, but Bioware gave you the option to kick players in the lobby and with DAI in the game as well.  If you allow people to leech then they've done enough IMO.  The bad part is the idiot players who won't even kick people.  Leech yourself.  Just watch it in the background and ready up as soon as they get to the lobby.  See how many games they do for you and never even put a vote on you lol.  Report back.

The amount of players on this game is extremely low which is pitiful because it used to be pretty nice.  You can hardly pug a threatening unless its peak hours......don't even try to find people pugging a perilous.  I understand private games (I usually only play private myself), but the fact you can't find ONE person says something.  And even if/when you do find someone its the same 5 different people.  Who to blame?  Bioware and EA for releasing such a broken game and running players off as many of the people on my friends list are proof of.

I admit I am on a last gen console, but still.

I strongly support the idea that we should be able to see each other's equipment. Threatening is perfectly doable with Level 1s as long as they are well geared.
While some of us may use fancy Banners/Portraits to show our level of dedication in this game, some opt for not using any and they are at a higher risk of being unfairly kicked during Public games.
Being able to see each other's equipment would be a sensible feature which this game is lacking.

After spending yesterday whole afternoon playing the mp (first real session really, besides few games earlier) I had several games where I could not move with my char after the spawn. In some I could use the combat abilities and could see atleast the ui, in some I could not do anything, not even quit the game without alt-tab + close the program.

So it is not always afk-leeching. Few times I waited to see if the bug goes away after the first room (forced respawn to the next door) but it didnt. once I even finished a game this way, I did not see much xp but I think I only played a round and a half that time, not whole game.

Here's a story of a level 1 I had in group couple weeks ago.

Dude was a level 1 Templar.. Look at the abilities Templar get at lvl 1. Templar doesn't even have a damaging ability at that level.

So i'm in lobby for the match and seen it. I didn't really care at the time and just readied up.  Some other person in group voted to kick him. Game starts up anyway. Throughout the run I hear this level 1 Templar in chat talking about all his good gear and how awesome he is. Dude was seriously delusional. He really thought he was owning everything with his auto attacks.

Someone in party dies and he says in chat, "I'm not ressing you cause someone voted to kick me". Wow, so not only does he join a match at lvl 1 with nothing but auto attacks but he refuses to help. So I go res the other guy. And then this Templar says he knows it was me that voted to kick him (even though it wasn't me). Then he starts saying he gonna get me banned cause I'm ruining other peoples fun by votekicking and it's against TOS. And how he has a whole group of hackers behind him and he gonna stop me from playing the game. lmfao.

Now, I don't have a headset so I'm pretty much just laughing to myself at his stupidity. Supposedly, I'm ruining peoples fun for votekicking a lvl 1 from threatening (again it was even me) but this guy joins a threatening group as a completely useless LEVEL 1 TEMPLAR and refuses to even help people and just brag the whole match.

And this is just one experience with a level 1 in higher difficulties. There's been many more trust me.

If people want to run with level one idiots that's fine. But other shouldn't have too.

All i'm asking is for more options when creating lobbies and ability to block people. Really was the point of this thread.

You know you can vote to kick in the match too, right?  At least on the PC you can.  Click your portrait in the middle of your skill bar, and you can do it just like in the lobby.  I have the speech auto muted in the options menu, since I don't play with a headset, so why bother, but yeah, sometime people just need to go.

Yeah, I've been thinking this too.  If nothing else, it'd just be cool to see what the RNGod has given my fellow players so I can know what other people are using and what I should keep my fingers crossed for.  But I've been in Threatening with lvl 1s who could carry their weight because they'e promotion stats + gear made them better than me at lvl 15, and I've been in lobbies where lvl 1s were just along for the ride and the party got wiped as a result.  Seeing their gear/stat profile would really help separate the wheat from the scrubs.

Personally, even though I'm getting better and have some decent gear and quite a few promotion bonuses at this point, I still won't jump to threatening before level 7 or 8, just as a matter of courtesy, and I make sure to play conservatively and take care of myself if I'm underleveled a bit.  If nothing else I can collect up gold, stand people up, etc, when I know I'm not quite as good as the other people in the group, until I bump another couple levels and can pull my weight better.

yeah I find myself having to use the perilous & threatening ones just so I don't get kicked when I'm low level. would actually like to use what I feel like if people could see my gear and prestige instead.

would be great too for a little bit of custom gear loadouts to synergise or changing characters to make the most of certain ability combos.

since I've got my threatening banner now, I've started playing routine to get to level 8ish and on some of my favourite characters that is enough to handle perilous, provided my team is moderately skilled and geared. less hassle in not getting kicked in threatening and easier to farm various weapon and elemental kills just solo'ing routine.
