I'm going through a second run at DA:I, but I've forgotten what you need to do to open up the rest of the Storm Coast so that you can go after the Red Templars and and then the dragon.  No option has appeared at the War Table to open up the area nor is there any special prompt in the area where an opening is to be made to allow you to pass to the other sector.

I'm currently at the point just before the destruction of Haven.  Could it be that that other part of Storm Coast is only available after you move to Skyhold?

Yeah, you have to do Wardens on the coast, then get to Skyhold to get the wartable mission for Red Templars on the coast. It can't happen before skyhold because no red templars after you yet.

Thanks for the quick reply!  I'm playing on hard this time and wanted to level up as much as possible before the siege of Haven.  A previous effort at Hard ended in disaster when I started Haven too soon.  Now, however, I'm close to completing everything you can do before Skyhold -- the Hinterlands except for the Dragon, the Fallow Mire, the Oasis, and now the Storm Coast.  I also wanted to be able to get the Improved Focus perk before Haven, but doubt there are enough points out there for that.  Oh well...

Here's a video showing the unlock of Red Templars on the Storm Coast and a follow up walkthrough of the Red Water quest.

Why? You won't have any focus abilities until after Haven is destroyed.

Even after Haven you don't get your specialty. I did my specialty missions, talked to the Rift Mage training, and she sent me on a few collection quests to get crafting materials for a Rift Mage manual.

I seriously have been waiting a long time to get my specialization, and then they make you wait even longer.
