Making Leliana a romance option in Inquisition

Leliana's still very much invested in the Warden if they romanced her. Besides, what's wrong with a long lasting relationship? Plenty of people have made that work.
I know right, my grandparents have been together for like 65-70 years and they can still put up with each other just fine. I don't know where this 'every love is doomed to fail' outlook people have has come from. Probably celebrity couples.

Romance options for male characters suck balls tbh, straight and gay.

Personally I think it's likely that Leliana would have already broke up with Warden. Relationship that lasts over 10 years? Not very normal in my mind
Thank god I haven't gotten my morning coffee yet or it would be all over my monitor screen right now.
Ah... a joking, right? ![]()

Nothing, just quite unrealistic. It would make perfect sense for Leliana have already broken up with Warden, but I guess some people like these mushy romantic love lasts 4ever things.

I could say the same thing for Cullen for a gay romance and change a few names like Cassandra and Josephine into Dorian and Iron Bull, and it would still be the same. Lesbians, gays, and straights have the same options, straight females have more options than others even from DA2, so it's not the first time, why complain now?

It's not unrealistic. There are plenty of people on this earth who have been together for ages now. It's not a 1 in a million thing. A romanced Warden is still extremely important to Leliana in more ways than one, why would she have broken up with them?
Contrary to popular belief these days, not everything ends badly. People have become way too cynical and jaded lately, relationships are gonna end badly with that attitude that's for sure. ![]()

If you want to romance her, go play DAO.
This.

Leliana is the only F/F option in DAO. The 'f/f relationships never last' trope is something I'd rather not see once again, thank you. Especially when there are already so many examples of that in DA already. ![]()

I know plenty of folks that have made it over a decade, and more that have made it for longer. I've been with my husband for over 11 years now, and we've been married for almost 9. My folks are going to hit 38 years together; my brother and his wife have been together for over 18 years. My friend Jared is hitting 10 years of marriage this year, and he's honestly happy. A lesbian couple I've known off and on for over a decade finally married (not in court, but had a ceremony which is all that counts imho) and they couldn't be happier. It doesn't work for everyone, but it happens more than you'd expect.
Plus, it's been pretty much stated in the games that the Warden is the companion's true love in every case, when it comes to Origins. Zevran continues to mourn the Warden if he was his/her LI and they did the US, and will turn down sex with Isabela. He was supposed to do the same even if the Warden was his LI and was alive, but that he accepts the sex anyway due to a bug.
Alistair and the Warden are supposed to be very much in love still. Morrigan and the Warden (if he followed her through the mirror) are also happy and in love. In fact, Morrigan looks forward to taking her and her son home to him when things are over.
While monogamy makes total sense for Leliana, really...if you think about it, all of the Origins LIs are like that. The Warden + Companion + LI status = True love, no exceptions. Why is anyone surprised by this?

Suggesting that a brothel is an acceptable alternative to a romance option is like suggesting that a Big Mac is a suitable replacement for a USDA prime grade porterhouse steak.
The players who clamor for more romance options, generally speaking, do so because they want to play out more love stories. Love stories. Not simply (cue music) bow-chicky-chicky-chicky-bow-bow! (fade to black).
Having said, I think Leliana is a terrible choice for reasons that have already been enumerated by others.
I used the Witcher world to highlight it's grittiness and "warts and all" approach to love and the distinction it draws between love through a developing relationship, and sex. Personally aside from the odd reference to courtesans in ME1 on the Citadel (eventually went out of business due to political pressure), I can't recall anything (ME2 OMEGA?) that appeared in the rest of the trilogy. However, there is a brothel in Denerim in DAO which many players found fun. There was no fade to black in DAO love scenes, much to it's credit. The game was after all aimed at a higher entry level than the minimum requirements for facebook, and I thought the relationships between all the companions was handled well.
I was one of the contributors to Bioware's discussion forum on Romance options for NWN. I and others got involved in script writing and one or two romance mods produced as add ons to that game were excellent and well thought out. Bioware captured that forum for use in future game development. Any domino effect there was I like to think was included in the overall content DAO relationships DAI, I think has had it's romance options (as always) low prioritised in terms of being pushed for time and roll out dates else I am sure there would have been greater attention paid to the content and in depth quality
I agree Liliana and Morrigan are not good romance options, other than their reference to their relationships with the grey Warden in DAO. I'd have been just as happy looking at the ME trilogy to have just the one (always Liara for RPG ers) or none at all.
It would have made a nice change to have the PC as a person who already had a long term partner at the start, and to role play how the pressures of the disaster at The Temple of Sacred Ashes affected their relationship. For example did he or she attend? Were they killed? Was the partner taken into custody by the Chantry, and so on

Oh, everyone basically should've been happy with Liara or no one at all? Maker all mighty... Personally, I wish I could have dumped her onto a nearest asteroid.
And no, I wouldn't want a long term partner (unless the game in guestion is a sequel) It takes the excitement away and is like starting a book from middle, skipping all the fun and sweet parts. It would also take away our own freedom of choosing who we want to romance in the first place, like a bad arranged marriage. I would definitely not play game like that.

I agree on both. Liara is not my cup of tea, and not only because I prefer ethero romance to lesbian (I prefer playng female characters that romance man, and males only if I find a female romance very compelling) she is the companion I liked less in absolute, and I found quite creepy having her obsessed over Shepard. Even when she/he was in another happy relationship.
I would not like a relationship pre-game too. Unless is like in Origins where the potential LI material is killed just at the start or get out of the way (Tamlen, Nelaros, Gorim) so the protagonist can move on during the game.

I would not mind her getting in the blood magic accident, maybe she will slip and fall into a cauldron where ritual is brewing that would change her to straight. Additionally, if she did not romance the speechless one then I'm more than welcome to embrace her, for the appearance mostly (but only if she turn straight).

Leliana is bisexual & prefers women over men romantically, she isn't gonna get changed to straight only, im not sure why your so against bi female characters when they can be romanced by both genders

Gif aside and with no sarcasm intended but it is damn frighting how much you sound like a serial killer a friend of mine is writing. I would ask about why it has to be straight only why bisexual doesn't work but I really don't think I want to know.

I'm glad our Inquis are not able to romance Leliana. I thought she was a whiner and annoying in DA:O and her personality is even worse, now. I understand if others are disappointed but I am happy that we have new romance interests although I wouldn't have said no to bringing Alistair back ![]()

I've read his posts hun. I spend about a month lurking and trust me, you really don't want to know. Just smile, nod, use the ignore feature and move on. It's a lot less disturbing that way. I've seen much worse from that particular poster. Sad to say, that's tame coming from him.

Oh I believe you very much on this and I should ignore him but on the other hand he is giving me material to feed my friend for that serial killer character she's working on, but on the other other hand I kind of like the little that's left of my sanity and hope.

Mostly I appreciate not having her ninja mancing all my elven ladyes. I hate having to dump her without even having flirted with her.
(really...it was really out of the blue...just after she asked to me how was Alistair under the sheet. Next scene, she declared her love for my elf. Creepy
)
I hated seeing the -50 in friendship, and I was quite creeped out, just like with Liara.
I liked much more Leliana in DAI, by the way. always "Maker here, Maker there", but at least there aren't "visions in dreams" and shoes talk. More mature, maybe a little depressed, but much more interesting.
