Dragon Age: Inquisition won't have party member DLC

This is very disappointing to say the least.

Yeah, this article is from April 2014. There are 9 companions and 3 advisers. I think 12 characters is enough.

This is old news but it's nonetheless welcome. I'm not opposed to DLC but aspects as integral to the plot as companions should never be packaged as a paid-for extra.

not sure why you made the same thread twice, but okay...

Not sure why it would be needed.  We have a full contingent of companions, most of whom are pretty excellent.  I want them to shut up so I can throw  them money for horse armor, hair, and content, in that order.

This has been known for a while, but honestly I'm glad for it. There's an abundance of characters already, and personally having to pay for characters always annoyed me. Sure, Shale was cool, but not worth paying for. Sebastian was unpopular, to say the least and personally I didn't think he fit with the rest of Hawke's team. It's not surprising that they decided to just not try stuffing another follower (or 3 if they want to keep the classes balance they've created) in the group

I truly feel if fans don't want to pay for content that's their choice but fans who want extra DLC characters shouldn't be punished. It's called choice. A company can do what they want as far as content goes but fans will always feel ripped off because it's extra content. People will ask for a billion dollars worth of content for 2 dollars if it was up to them.

Good, I'd hate to restart my main canon play through just to get one more companion.

They aren't making DLC characters because it would be too much effort and work to try to work them into a story where they cant fit. it has nothing to do with punishment it has to do with the story as a whole. remember Mass Effect 2, not one companion ever really acknowledge Kasumi, and she was never brought up except in her dlc and later dlc. while the rest of the companion all had a much deeper connection to the story since they were made with the story in mind.

It just comes down to. if they add a new character now, they wont benefit the story what so ever, and just be a one trick pony.

That's also the reason Javik, Shale, Sebastian all were in development before the game was released, because that means they can be made whilst the story is still being written, so they have room within the plot. I.E javik constant bicker with other companions about how their race used to be, mainly the mission on thessia. all of his dialogue and interactions would have been extremely hard to do post game.

It seems like the way people are crying character DLC will never happen again even if they fit into the story.

We've known this for quite a while. I don't think the game needs any more companions anyway. We already have a little too many as far as I'm concerned.

First people complain that the character dlc is cut out of the game, and now they complain when there isn't going to be any character dlc. What gives?

Thing is, Bioware can't please everyone, especially when people take up contradictory positions. They have to choose one side or the other, and their choice is clear.

Main issue with past games was that they needed to code the core game to fit the character (Mass Effect 2 people found partial code in the game for Kasumi long before her DLC was released, then Sebastian and Javik being Day 1 DLC... though Sebastion was free for people who pre-ordered) so a lot of people felt that Bioware was cutting content to sell later for more money.

So Bioware decided not to have DLC companions in Inquisition to avoid people claiming cut content (This is probably the main reason we have not heard anything about story DLC as they probably want some time to pass so people can't really bring up the "Cut Content" card....... though you know they will.)

You have to admit the party got some great dialogue out of making fun of him and Sebastion completely missing that he was being made fun of.
