Anyone else find Skyhold's mere existence a bit...ridiculous?

Solas: "Oh, by the way Inquisitor, there's this abandoned yet very useable gargantuan fortress out in the mountains that is strangely devoid of squatters or rival occupation of any kind!  Have fun!"

I'm sorry, but what?

This would be like me in present day walking down a dirt road out in the country side somewhere and finding a slightly rundown but still very functional Lamborghini Diablo that just happens to not be owned by anyone.

I'm pretty sure I remember Morrigan saying that there were squatters. Something about the only inhabitants of the place for years and years until the Inquisition arrived being the 'decrepit and the lost' or something like that.

How she knows that I have no idea. Cryptic Morrigan stuff.

Damn, must have missed that conversation.

A better analogy would be if that Lamborghini Diablo had passed handes between magical, ancient elves who tried to reach the heavens in their car and failed, and then mulitple groups of humans who were attacked in the vehicle and abandoned it.

The place obviously has a shady past, and its existence is not commonplace knowledge. Solas only knew about it because he is an Elven god.

Not so much Skyhold itself, but I do find the lack of functional storage in a place of this size ridiculous. No closets? Not even an armoire? For real?

Must have missed part of that lore exposition too.  Guess I need to romance Solas or something.

You're worried about closet space and all I want is a bathroom.

Who needs a bathroom? Just fill the chamber pot and chuck it over the side of the mountain medieval style.

Oooh, did your game ship with some kind of bonus "realistic needs" feature? :o Cuz I just want a place to store stuff I can't use yet.

You mean your inquisitor hasn't been pissing on the kitche....oh wait sorry. I got it confused with the sims. My bad.

Actually I am shocked at how many people find storage to be an issue. I always have plenty of space, but then again I am the type of person who doesn't hold on to things. I even sold Cole's hat.

I want storage for the bloody teddy bear and things like that...I hate tossing it.  :(

Also, I want to know how all those flags were flying when we find Skyhold. They should have rotted long ago but there they are, waving in the wind.

I sold every party member's hat. It's not so much of an issue as an oversight, especially in such a huge space. I also think it's weird that there are no chamberpots or garderobes, but that might just be the house modder in me talking.

Store it all in one giant pot and when someone invades toss it on the enemy.

A bathroom in this time period would basically be an outhouse from hell, I agree with KaiserShep

That may be the most disgustingly brilliant idea I've ever heard on these forums

See, that's why we need Sandal in this game. He empties chamber pots in addition to his enchantment skills.  :)

If I remember correctly, it's Morrigan who dishes most of the backstory on Skyhold. I didn't romance Solas either, so can't comment on that front.

We could reenact the avalanche that destroyed Haven.

I want to know how people get up in there. The drawbridge doesn't have stairs at the opposite end, just a tower and the whole thing is set on top of some steep cliffs. There aren't even any roads in sight. Why are we even based there? There is no benefit, it must be extremely hard to get in and out, get supplies and food and converts and it never gets attacked or threatened. We should have had a moving war camp like Robb Stark in Game of Thrones.

Skyhold is "Protected from darkness" apparently.

Let's blame Solas. "Hey guys, I know this cool elf place,"

Man **** that guy. He got Lavellan knocked up and then dumped her so he wouldn't have to pay child support. :P

That would be the last time anyone ever attacked Skyhold. No soldier in their right mind would march under anyone who thought it'd be a good idea to attack again
