100% agreement from me. The only thing worse than the hair in this game, is the beards.

I agree, 50 shades of bald is about it, and 10 shades of short. Yes, I know animating hair is a bugger, and hair below the collar causes clipping, the longer the hair is, the harder it is to animate and, the more clipping it causes.
Okay, we know that so, give us two long styles, one put up in a pony tail and one loose for each race and gender. Yes the animation will be horrid or no existent and, there will be clipping. Some of us would rather that than no hair we like. I'd also suggest a proper Mullet style and, a true flattop style, a cute, neat shag that doesn't look like bed head (Sera Hair) might do the trick.
Those that can't deal with the lack of animation and clipping can simply avoid the longer styles.

Agreed... I hate the hair models in this game. I mean, a couple of them are okay but really BioWare? You didn't even give gender-specific hairstyles. Just the same bland crappy ones all across the board.

As long as they keep some of the "black" haircut styles. But hair and beards could be improved on. I'm sure that they know about this problem by now, and will improve on what they can offer. ![]()

I completely agree with the OP. I had a blast with Inquisition, but the hair could definitely use some work. I mean FFS, women have the exact same hair options as men, including the hipster come over and the dozen or so receeding hair lines.
I understand that hair is difficult to model, even CD Projekt complains about it, but come on.

Well... it works if you want your "femquisitor" to be a little on the rough side.

And some of the hair styles will give your female sideburns.
(Although there is a mod to get rid of sideburns, thank goodness).

Least it makes them look somewhat... unique. ![]()

It is a eastern egg, half of the dev team is probably bald too. They have a issue with people who have hair. ![]()

I see your beards and raise you the terrible, almost comically fake eyebrows.

100% agreement, OP. DAI's hairstyles are terrible. It bears repeating.

Hair is hard. I haven't seen any game do a fantastic job of it. Given the impressive work done on the character creator, I'm sure the developers are very well aware of it's limitations.

Judging only by CC, but Black Desert did a very nice job.
This is not about clipping or some other technical matter it's about the aesthetics, the fact that almost all haircuts have masculine receding hairline and the fact that these buzz cuts are very cheap shortcut, there is also an amount of juvenile coolness in some of the design decisions or just completely weirdnesss (the razor accident hair cuts and Ziggy hairdo) which would be ok if it was balanced out by more conventional choices and there are pictures floating around that show that conventional choices were part of the original plan.
BW either run out of time or thought it to be unimportant, or both.

Don't forget the receding hairline! There's one hairtsyle that would have been perfect for me (top half tied in a ponytail, bottom half loose)... except for the hair receding at the temples.
It would also be good if black eyebrows were actually black, and not grey/blue!

100% agreement from me. The only thing worse than the hair in this game, is the beards.
I think this one isn't bad, though it might look different on a different-shaped head, or in a different color (click thumb for full-size):
Unfortunately it's the exception that proves the rule. I don't know why the only goatee options all involve "guinea pig glued to face," it's huge:
One of the things I did in the CC was: as a last step, add the beard you want, then go back to the face or head sliders and start mushing the jaw around, and maybe also the nose. You'll never see the face without the beard anyway, so it doesn't matter how silly their chin or mouth looks. You can get some minor adjustments to the beard shape by doing that.
I really don't understand the frequently-mentioned 50 Shades of Bald. I thought my graphics were messed up, the first time I scrolled through the hair choices and found the multiple "shaved head" styles that are nearly identical? WIth minor variations in stubble pattern? It's deeply weird.
I have a sinking feeling that those silly minor variations were included only to let some manager delude themselves into thinking they were providing a higher count of choices. "See? We don't have 8 hairstyles at all! We have 18! So there, critics who say there aren't enough choices!"
/sigh

I've been wondering something... I use to play Sims 3 but I never made hairstyles for that game and I'm no programmer, so how big difference is it for game developer to make hairstyles for a Sims 3 simulation type game compared to DAI style RPG? I mean that game had some nice styles and they weren't animated either. Yeah, I know... this probably a very stupid question.

On what engine Sims 3 run? Perhaps people who incorporate hairs into the game didn't had time to adapt to Frostbite.
Actually if my eyes don't fail me Sera's and Morrigan's hair do move.

More like fifteen shades. Where's the ginger? Why am I orange?
...but then I suppose the reference would be a little more tenuous, and I got a good laugh out of the title as-is. Thanks OP. :'D
Agreeded. All the hair - scalp, beard, brows - are terrifying to varying degrees.
Also, I miss sideburns. I liked giving my characters kickass sideburns. Sideburns are cool. >>

It's been awhile, so I had to google but didn't find anything specific. In many places it's said that EA created their own engine for Sims 3. Not sure if that's true, though.
Edit: I just meant that I don't need the hair to move. It's a nice bonus, though. ![]()
