The goal of this thread is simple. Say which language you speak and what language you prefer playing Dragon Age. For me, it would go as follow...

My Languages: Canadian French (1), International French (2), English (3)
How I Choose to Play Dragon Age: Mostly English (audio and subs), then French (audio and subs) to compare.

I want to to see how many forumers here choose to go beyond their comfort zones to play these games or if they prefer playing it in English, since it's the original language used for them.

German. Play in German. English to compare (usually better).

I only know English, so that's what I play it in.

Unless you want to count things like C++ as a language, but it'd be really weird to have a conversation in it =P

My languages: English, French, Arabic, German.

I should technically count "Lebanese" since it's as much a dialect to Arabic as Portuguese is a dialect of Spanish, but I won't :P

I also won't include computer languages (Cyonan beat me to it).

How I choose to play Dragon Age: English. It typically has the best VAs (to me).

German,  German dub, because i prefer the german female voice (the one which represents the british english) over the english one.

Norwegian, English and technically French if you're being very generous.

There is no Norwegian sub/dub, and even if there were I'd sooner throw myself off a cliff than actually play it. We have like, 3 (maybe 4) VAs in the entire country and most of them suck. So English voice and text.

Swedish. Thank the Creators there's no Swedish dub. I play it in English with no subs. Even if my French and German were good enough I would still play it in English because why miss out on the stellar voice acting of the original VAs?

I'm a snobby purist, what can I say.

German, and I also know English and bits of French... and some Latin on the more useless side of things. I play in English whenever I get the chance unless the game in question was originally made in the German language like "The Book of Unwritten Tales".

I prefer hearing the original VAs. (And occasionally I get flashbacks of the German dub of Warcraft 2, my original reason to switch to English voices in gaming.)

Danish but no dub so it is English with sometimes subtitles.

I am curious to hear the other dubs.

I wonder if DAI was translated in Japan. I know they got the subs, but don't know if it got dubbed.

Finnish and English, little amount of Swedish and Japanese.

I play DA games in English like most of games, japanese games I play in Japanese. Sadly sometimes there isn't original version >_<

As subs, I use English subs in games. Games don't even get dubbed nor subbed in my native language so English it is.

French (first language), Dutch, German, English.

I play exclusively in English. I never played a dubbed game, as I want to hear the original voice-over artists and the original script. If subs, then English subs too.

Probably because I used to be a translator, mainly for films, I know how much gets lost in translation for lack of space (average reading speed vs time to read the subs before they go off screen) or lip sync time. English is a very short language compared to French or German, for instance, so unfortunately translation choices need to be made. And some jokes in particular are extremely tricky to translate, so you tend to miss out on puns, for example. There are some amazing translators out there, for sure, but to me now, original version is my preferred version.

It usually designates a neutral French accent if spoken, and a translation using non-local words/expressions if translated. So for instance, not a Canadian French accent. Or no expressions only the Belgian French speakers would understand. Meaning it can be used in all French-speaking territories, thus international.

There's also Parisian French.

That's a league all on its own :P

Finland. Finnish, Swedish, English.

There aren't finnish language options in the game. If there were I'd still do english. I base this on finnish dubbed movies which I hate when compared to the original.

I speak German (native speaker) and English.

I choose to play DAI in German (audio and subs) on my first play through, so I wouldn't miss anything important. By the way, I loved the synchronized version. They did an excellent job with it, in my opinion.

I switched to English (again audio and subs) on my second play through. Mainly because of the variety of different voices.

Edited to add:

And I can't stress out enough how much I loved it that you could switch the language so easily in the menu.
