Usually play games in my native language but if I have the option (like with ME3, DA2 or DAI) I choose English dubbing and Polish menus and subtitles.

 

Most of the time original voices are better than dubbing.

I want to hear the original voice actors, and don't want to miss any untranslatable bits, like jokes and references. I'm more familiar with the English-speaking side of the internet community anyway.

 

I actually go full-English when it comes to gaming, I even set my consoles and laptop that way, so I'd get everything in English as default, it's convenient, I don't have to fiddle with stuff and switch settings. Finding out my copy of DE:HR didn't have the option of English in-game text and subtitles put me off the game so bad I never finished it to this day... But I'm an English major, and may be communicating in Shakespeare's language more often than in my native tongue these days.

I would imagine so. Brazilians seem to love video games. Same with Filipinos.

 

Well in Brazil we have fanboys like in any place of this world I believe. They are very stupid actually, but  I don't care you know? I just like to play

 

It's true that our ' Gaming Market ' is awful, the prices here in Brazil are high as ****. PS4 was released on Brazil costing 4K, and that's bullshit. But there is also the fact Brazilians are LOVED by STEAM/VALVE, the prices in STEAM are always awesome. And actually there is a something that made Brazilian Gamers very happy in 2015. The PC version of Grand Theft Auto V on Brazil, is the cheapest of the entire world.

Swedish (native) and english. I play in english without subtitles. I wouldn't play the game in swedish even if they paid me! I cringe every time I hear a cartoon or movie dubbed to swedish on TV....Yes they are that bad!

I always play in english with english subs. No to dubs or finnish subs, can't stand them.

I'm from Spain. I speak Spanish, English and a little Japanese. For gaming and for everything else, I prefer the original language, even if I don't understand it. I find that the nuances of a language (how they sound) are lost in many dubs, specially when the language is very different from your own like Chinese, Japanese, German, etc.

 

I always play in English to avoid bad subs and dubs. I've encountered so many games so badly translated and with such annoying voice actors that I stopped playing in Spanish years ago. I think Oblivion was the last one, the Spanish version was crap. All my consoles are set in English and I even buy my games in the UK to avoid games that only come with one language option.

 

As for subs, when I switch them on, I always choose the English version

english with subs (since i tend to miss things without them).  it's my secondary but main language that i speak (my first being cantonese).  other than that, i prefer listening to original language audio anyway, no matter what the language, as long as there are english subs too.

 

despite canto being my first language, i'm actually far less fluent in it.  i can understand and speak on a basic conversational level, but i can only read a little chinese (traditional only, i can't read simplified chinese) and i can't write chinese at all.  besides, a chinese language version would most likely be dubbed in mandarin and i only know a few basic mandarin words and phrases >___>

Chinese. But there isn't a Dragon Age in Chinese so I play it in English.

English, Bulgarian, Russian, Spanish, a bit Japanese.

I think it's always better to play games, watch movies and read/listen books in their original language, if I can understand it well enough. If not, original language with subtitles in whatever language I understand. Thank goodness they don't dub games and movies where I live.

I play games in their original languages and most of them are in english but sometimes I do need subs.

My languages are German, and then English.

I always play Bioware games in English with EN subs as I can't stand German (especially the dub, it's horrendous). I also don't like translations because a lot is lost in that usually.

I'm Finnish and I play the game in English without subtitles (don't need them). Same goes for other games.

I always play in English when I can. Watched French dub on youtube and woow it's mostly horrible. I was so relieved I had no problems with the language this time. DAO wouldn't install in anything but French and it was an appalling experience.

Though I do remember playing DA:O with Spanish subtitles. Translation was far from good.

I'm American, and only really speak English, and I guess what I would call toddler level Spanish.  While I would love to be able to learn another language, I just don't possess the skills or intelligence type to do it.  

 

I would be hopelessly lost playing a game in anything other than English.
