Now if they could just fix the AI...
Played Origins again the other day and that just made me miss DA:O tactics/AI even more.
Just look at it! Look at all the options!

So if this patch really sucks and is super buggy can I blame the beta testers?
Sure, you can blame me if you first provide me with your DXDiag report and, a list of all running processes while the game is running and, it's something that is released with the patch bugging out on you. (meaning it was added or changed in the official patch notes). If nothing on your end is causing the issue as far as I can see, I'll take the blame. I can't speak for other beta testers though so, just me. ![]()

Yeah, blame DarkAmaranth1966

Yeah, like if they're gonna add something as complex as detailed AI in a patch....
They're adding 'The Black Emporium' for free. Let us consider ourselves fortunate already.

Yep, DA1966 doesn't speak for me. ![]()
Hey, our beta testers may be submitting every single glitch and bug that comes their way, no matter how small. Whehter it gets fixed is a matter of time, resources, and whether the programmers can reproduce it.
Plus, they closed beta signup so damn fast, I don't know if they have enough submissions to represent all the different computer setups.
EDIT: Alan, you're right. The beta won't even include consoles, because they need to pass cert (to make sure Live/Home/other overlays work and stuff).

Of course I'm not expecting them do add a detailed AI through a patch. I'm expecting them do deliver it via a message in a bottle as with everyithing else when it comes to fixing games....
May have missed it somewhere, but is there a time frame for when this patch is supposed to arrive?
Thanks in advance.

None that I know of. But expect mid-March or so, more or less.
Patch 5 have bug fixes too?
I don't think Bio would be allowed to give out a beta patch to consoles.
Bethesda did it with Skyrim's Dawnguard update on X360.

Never understood the fascination with this. Tactics was the every first thing I disabled as soon as I got a new companion.
And the AI in DA:O is completely sh*t. It's why the tactics screen was necessary to begin with, so you could program it yourself.
The AI in DA:I really isn't that bad if you set the targetting behaviour and skill preference properly. Oh and you gotta watch the ranged characters, the pathfinding and coincidentally the line of sight is utterly bad in DA:I. Is there a 2 inch/5 cm high stone in the way? Can't move over it, can't shoot over it. That's why they move so close a lot of the times. (other times they'll do it on purpose to make the best use of Leaping Shot... which is actually rather good)
I'm currenty running a squad with Cassandra, Iron Bull and Dorian, and I never have to manually take control of any of them, except for dispelling at rifts.
Cassandra --> Targets same as PC. War Cry preferred, Challange preferred.
Iron Bull --> Defends Cassandra. Block & Slash preferred, Mighty Blow preferred, War Horn (or whatever that skill is called) preferred. Not a single skill or passive taken in the vanguard tree to up guard.
Dorian --> Defends Cassandra. Barrier preferred, Dispel disabled.
PC --> Tactics disabled completely.
I'll have to try something like that out next playthrough.

I run something similar but why have Dispel disabled? I actually have it preferred and have yet to see a situation where the AI made a bad decision using it. The AI in DA:I is actually very competent especially when it comes to combo detonations. I usually bring a rogue instead of 2 warriors though.
Knockout Powder --> Dispel --> Nightmare --> giving demons a dose of their own medicine
The only reason I can think of is if you want to save the cooldown for using it on rift spawns but the cooldown is so short that it's irrelevant, I am more worried about having enough mana to cast it when the rift is spawning.
Is it too much or violating an NDA or something to ask if this patch enables face codes for your Inquisitors?
Thanks.

They can't talk about any specifics in the patch, especially ones that Bioware haven't mentioned themselves.
Yes! Will this same pacth be available for those on the PS4?
Yep, due out in 2016. ![]()

You have no idea how much I REALLY ****** HOPE THEY HAVE THIS! I want to take my main through another play so please bioware MAKE IT SO!
How about throwing the Qunari a bone? Qunari armors please.

My first Inquisitor was on PS3, Benjamin, and if/ when I get a PS4 I may want to do another playthrough with him on the PS4. As well as my second Inquisitor.

Tactics were great in certain situations to automate things you'd now have to do manually in Inquisition. For example, using AOE CC or nuking on groups of enemies was very simply represented in Tactics with the "groups of" target selections. Also, you could tell your mage to use strong single-target CC on the strongest enemies so you could focus on picking off the weaker ones. Additionally, you could tell your mages to cast buffs/debuffs upon attacking an enemy, instead of at the start of "combat mode." Having this option would minimize wasted Barriers (though the devs seemed to have realized this flaw, hence the Reduced Cooldown for Barriers that expire without being destroyed).
For things like spacing and positioning, those were things the Dragon Age AI never handled well, and you had to do yourself.
wrong thread.
But while my post is here I might as well post a point.
If they are listening I would love the ability to unlearn Specializations. After putting 40 hours into a toon I picked a Specialization that I really don't like it peeves me to throw away 40 hours game play foe one bad decision.
If they could add this to the patch it would be good.
First of all, cheers to Bioware for engaging with their customers and creating this patch. Just because you have a large budget and the capability of creating AAA RPG's doesn't mean you can't engage with your fans and use their input for actual production. Good move on your part.
I know this may not happen with this upcoming patch, but I would love to see more content in general. Even if it is a few extra camps or NPC's that give quests. Some of the areas feel so empty outside of spawning beasts and random encounters. I'm really just looking for more interactions with NPC's and interesting encounters in those areas. Even in Baldur's Gate 1, there were random NPC's in the middle of the wilderness areas that gave interesting quests. There were also numerous encounters that went beyond common enemies. You had to face assassins, wandering Ogres, deranged mages, etc. It spiced things up a bit and could do the same with DA:I.
Also, the message and looting interface could use an uplift. I'm in the middle of a fantasy setting, so when I find a letter left in an abandoned home, I don't want a black box with white font to pop on my screen. Show me a book, scroll or letter with handwriting as the font. The black box sort of ruins the immersion.
The menu is clunky. It takes several seconds to scroll through characters to equip weapons or upgrade their abilities. It would be amazing if the menu was more fluid and easy to use.
My two cents for what its worth.
In the meantime, this is a step in the right direction. I hope for more engagement between developer and customers.
